“Putzing” Around

January 6, 2025 at 9:36 am by Claudia

It’s very cold here with gray skies. Those of you in the path of the storm, keep safe, don’t overdo. Stay warm.

I spoke to Jan on Saturday, but she was very, very tired, so I didn’t talk long. I’ll call her again today.

Yesterday, I put the Christmas decorations for the dollhouses and Blythes away, which involved finding the boxes in the office closet, which is truly like the closets in cartoons: if you open the door, something will fall out. Much swearing was heard, I’m sure, as I tried to sort things out and re-organize the closet space. Such a seemingly simple thing, right? Not in this small cottage. The putz houses were also put back in storage. But the tree remains, making us very happy.

New video on my YouTube channel, which is: claudiathechroniccollector

My Putz Sheep

This is the only video I have on YouTube, by the way. I’m not interested in investing time in a YouTube channel. Back story: I did a little video of the sheep with Christmas music on Instagram, but I was unable to transfer that video – most likely because it’s the property of IG. It’s just 34 seconds long.

All of this – being my first time – took a lot of energy.  But it’s sort of cute.

I finished this book:

What an amazing read! It’s about 6 astronauts working on the International Space Station. I wrote that it was slow going, but only because there was so much descriptive content that necessitated a slowing down. Not a word was wasted. It’s simply beautiful. Deeply profound. It’s just over 200 pages long, but boy, it packs a punch. I’ve been thinking of it off and on ever since I finished it. Needless to say: I recommend it highly.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

I loved, loved the video! So cute and charming. I am looking forward to seeing more.
I do not do any social media, e.g. Facebook or Instagram so you posting videos on your blog makes me happy.

Greetings to Don and the both of you take care,
    Kaye

It’s cold here this morning…but nothing compared to other parts of the country. Definitely a time to stay safe. Your sheep video is darling! That’s a fun collection. I’ll have to check out that book…it does sound interesting. I echo your sentiment… everyone stay warm!

Loved the video. Now maybe you can add a sheep dog to guard and to keep them in line.😉

Oh, they stay in line. If they move every so slighly, they’ll fall off the shelf.

      Stay safe, Barb.

I still doing loads of wash from the bedding used by visitors during Christmas. I will get to putting the Christmas stuff away next.
I am reading Louise Penny’s latest and I can’t put it down! That’s why I’m doing laundry – I can pop a load in and then read, read, read! ;)

Cute video! I forget from year to year how many you have…quite the collection. Was the one with the hat in your header, the one that started you on this collection?

Cold here too…and no sun. That is quite the storm that’s moving through the center of the country. Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

I had to laugh at your closet story….I know I have a few places like that, too, so it was definitely a sympathetic giggle.

    Enjoy your day! ;)

I didn’t realize how large your herd is, Claudia! “Simple” yet charming (because of the subject ) video.

I’ll look into Orbital and probably add it to my stack of to-be-reads.

We have heavy fog so I’m waiting for my daughter to let me know she’s made it to work safely. Will the storm head your way? You stay safe and warm in your cottage.

No, the storm will not hit us. Though it’s snowing very lightly today.

    Love the sheep video!
Hoping the library list for Orbital gets to my name soon.
Crazy cold. slippery snow day. Just a tiny bit of snow to make travel and walking the dog scary. I just heard the sand truck come by my house…9:18PM. Very strange.

Sorry to hear about Kathy’s father passing away. I hope that she’ll be alright. My dad is so important to me. I try to see him two or three times a week.
I do so like the video of the putz sheep. I should show my shepherd friend that video – she’d laugh! Anna-Mart would agree that you need a sheep dog.
I’m really sorry about your friend Jan’s cancer. You must be super sad.
We’ve got a fair bit of snow. It’s not really cold yet, but I know that it’s coming. I think the last part of January will see us in the freezer. I love hot evening baths and snuggling into bed.

I loved your video just as much as I love your putz sheep collection. They’re wonderful. I have no idea how to put music to my videos. It’s very frustrating. My old computer had a program that made it quite easy but I’ll be darned if I can figure out the program on my current computer. So, not they seem like moving slide shows with no music. Maybe someday I’ll have the time to figure it out!

Music added to videos is easy on Instagram, but very difficult when I’m using the video elsewhere. I agree, it’s frustrating.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
