Puzzles and Egg Cups

February 8, 2022 at 9:36 am by Claudia

Dickens puzzle in progress. I spent a fair amount of time on it yesterday. It’s very engrossing, which is what I need now.

We ventured into the neighboring college town and I bought some boxes and bubble wrap and tape. Since we live in such a small house, I’ve learned not to hang on to boxes because we just don’t have the storage space. We recycle all that cardboard. I did have a bit of bubble wrap on hand, but I needed more. Then we came back to the house and I proceeded to wrap each egg cup in bubble wrap, placing sheets of it between the layers of egg cups. Country Living sent me a UPS label and today I’ll drop it off for shipping. I have to say that that the woman I’m working with couldn’t be nicer. She completely understands my worries about the egg cups in transit and during the time that CL is doing the shoot. Since this is what she does for a living, I think all will be well.

A lot of the ice on the trees and plants melted yesterday and more will melt today. But in the meantime, it’s gray and foggy out there.

We’re watching the Olympics, as we always do, and are grateful for the distraction. I’ve been a bit distracted myself by my worries about the weather and the need to package up the egg cups and send them off so they arrive in time for the shoot. Once I drop them off today, I’ll breathe a sigh of relief.

I’m gearing up to do some work on the exterior of the English Cottage. I want to seal the stones with Mod Podge and then add some mortar. The process will be messy, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I realize that the stones will look more realistic and aged that way. I’m excited about it.

Okay, my friends. I have to get going.

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

That puzzle does indeed look to be a dickens!

High anxiety, gray days, and too cool temps around here lately. A new cancer scare for Mr. Wizard and a ticking time bomb in my furry baby’s chest. It’s doctors and technicians and meds for us all day every day. Is it all supposed to be so hard?

I’m hoping for the best for you and your egg cups on their journey to and from the magazine. People will love to see them, just as we all have done. You are great to share them.

    Stay warm.

I’m so sorry, Shanna. Praying for Mr. Wizard and for your baby. I wish I could give you a hug in person.

      Sending love.

So happy you got the egg cups wrapped and sent off. I’ll look forward to seeing them in CL. I’ve enjoyed the Olympics also. Needing a distraction this time of year. I know we are both remembering our sweet furry one’s that passed six years ago. Big Hugs!

Your attention span is much longer than mine. I rarely spend more than 10-15 minutes at a time on a puzzle and usually only a couple times a day.

Sounds like you packed the egg cups well. It will be fun to see them in the magazine.

It’s grocery adventure day here. Always interesting to see what the store is out of today.
    Take care

I was up too late watching Nathan Chen. Which was worth it! But a slow morning. I can see why you are concerned about the egg cups but they’ve been around the block on guarding things more than a few times. I’m sure it will be fine. I’d worry more about the posting than the use on site.

I just finished “The Madness of Crowds.” That may be one I’ve enjoyed most, although that’s always a hard call. Now proofing a friend’s novel, which isn’t bad but I’d rather be reading something else! Have a wonderful day.

You sending off your precious egg cups reminds me of when my late husband sent off some of his vinyl records and other memorabilia to be included in the California Museum’s exhibit for that year’s Hall of Fame inductees. My husband was a huge Beach Boys fan, and got to know various members of the band, so when The Beach Boys were inducted into the Hall of Fame, my husband was approached by the museum to loan some of his items. I’m glad he got to go to see the exhibit a few times. Sadly, he died before the items could be returned to him, but I was able to contact museum staff and the items returned home safe and sound. Your egg cups will soon be safely home, too.

How lovely for your husband (and you)! That must have meant a great deal to him.

      Thanks, Wendy.

Oh no – just 13 of them. I have too many to feature in a magazine!

      Stay safe, Linda.

I understand your feelings as you mail off those sweet and precious egg cups!! Most especially in these days of USPS adventures. But, as you and others said, CL has been doing this for many years. So nice to deal with someone you trust.

This puzzle looks much more do-able than the previous one! Glad you are enjoying. The Olympics have been fun to watch. The skating last night was beautiful. We were switching between that and the Canada-US hockey game. Have a great evening. Snowboarding and skiing tonight. Take care.

Well, they traveled via UPS, which is more reliable, so all should be well.

We watched snowboarding last night and were laughing at the young commentator’s overuse of the word ‘massive.’ MASSIVE! And ‘funnest.’

      Stay safe, Chris.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
