Thursday and Friday were intense days weather-wise. It rained Wednesday night and all day Thursday. We’ve had very little rain, as you know. Friday brought a wind event with relentless high winds all day long and into the night. We had no internet for several hours on Friday.
All of that rain and wind unfortunately caused a terrible accident in our community. It occurred on the main road (a county road) that goes through our town. We drive it all the time, in fact, Don was driving on that road yesterday morning. A local couple was driving east and a tree fell on the cab of their truck. The man, aged 79, was severely injured. The woman, aged 77, was killed. It is so awful and sad. A few seconds more or less and they would have made it through that section of road.
Don had been driving there about 30 minutes earlier.
My heart breaks for that family.
This morning, after winds all night long, we woke up to see a truck on our next door neighbor’s property, apparently repairing their electric line. Lights were flashing in the dark. There was another truck on the road, repairing the lines on the pole. And we had no internet or cable this morning, but it has since come back on.
I think we’re going to take it easy today. We’re grateful we’re safe.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

i’m glad you’re safe, too. will be praying for that family.
hope you enjoy a restful weekend.
had a busy week here, too, so am grateful for the weekend … no appointments to keep, no business-y calls to make, no errands to do (continuing with promise to my retired self to avoid stores on weekends). there’s still stuff to do here, of course, but weekends thankfully provide more time to relax (i’ll probably knit or watch a movie). already went on a longer walk with my sister this morning … 41 degrees, met a very sweet and wiggly pup. :)
hope you, don and everyone else have a nice weekend and stay safe.

Have a lovely weekend, Kathy!
Stay safe.
What a tragic accident. It reminds us to enjoy life while we can as we never know when it might end.
Yes, indeed.
Thanks, Ellen.
Stay safe.
Such a sad, tragic accident. My heart goes out to the family. Life can change in an instant. Glad you and Don are safe from the elements. Have a peaceful weekend. Hugs, Elaine
Thank you so much, Elaine.
Stay safe.
What a sad and tragic accident. I’m so very glad Don made it through before that happened, that you are both safe.
I just love that blue on the doll house. That blue and white is so fresh, it just makes me smile.
Lay low today. You two deserve it.
Thank you, Jeanie.
Stay safe.
So happy to hear you are safe. Bad storms are so scary. I know several years ago my daughter had a tree come down on their house, no one was hurt but wow. Take care of yourselves.
We will. Thank you, Linda.
Stay safe.
