First: I’m shocked, as is everyone, at the loss of Representative Elijah Cummings today. He was a true patriot, a civil rights leader, and a man of great integrity. May he rest in peace. I’m deeply greatful for his service to our country.

Thank you for all of your incredibly supportive comments on yesterday’s post! I’m glad you understand and you clearly do. We’re very excited, of course, and have a lot to do before we leave, but it will all work out and we’ll soon be in our favorite city.
We had torrential rain yesterday afternoon, evening, and throughout the night – along with winds. There are a lot of catalpa leaves on the ground this morning and we have a wind advisory for the rest of the day. And maybe tomorrow, as well.
You know by now that I do not like high winds. Especially winds that go on all day long.
Looks like I can’t rake or mow the lawn. We’re due for more rain today. I’ll try to do both before we leave but whatever happens, happens. We did get the gutters cleaned out yesterday; in fact, it started raining heavily while Don was still on the roof. I told him to come down and he did. We also ran a couple of errands. I needed a new handbag that was big enough for the trip. Does anyone else still call it a purse? I do and I feel like I have to stop myself and say ‘bag’ or ‘handbag’ instead. But they’ll always be purses to me.
I also needed an ‘in-between’ jacket. Not winter-heavy, not early fall light. We found a nice one that was on sale. And there you go!
Now I have to do things like hold the mail, buy some travel sizes of things we need, find the timers for the lights, do laundry, decide what to pack, etc.

Looking forward to following you and Don on your exciting travels! In Europe we say handbag as a purse is a where a woman would keep her money but a man would have a wallet (hopefully not sounding too sexist😀!) Carry on calling it a purse, it sounds far more elegant!

that was a new term to me, too. guess it has something to do with how quickly the barometric pressure drops within a 24-hour period and how much wind and rain should be expected.

Many, many people lost power, but we didn’t. We’re lucky!

It’s a purse! We just went on a trip and I too switched to a bigger purse. We never handled our luggage through the whole trip so I had medications and valuables in my purse plus a book and my kindle!
I have noticed a lot of women don’t carry purses at all anymore. I couldn’t function without mine. I don’t think my husband could either. I am always shoving his stuff in there too and he always knows I have tissues, ibuprofen, etc. when he needs something.
I have loved purses since I was a little girl, Kimberly. I used to stand in the purse section of every department store we visited. The one we got yesterday is my favorite ever!

A very sad morning, indeed.
Maybe it is an age thing ~ but I still call it a purse. So wonderful when you find one that is a good fit for the wallet, phone, and all other things we ferry around, with a bit of room to spare!
We had the wind for 2 days, also. It wears me out. Hope you crossed things off of your To Do list today!!
It wears me out, too. It was so strong today that my porch plants were falling over. I felt like I was in The Wizard of Oz.
I’m crossing things off. More to do, but I feel good enough about everything at this point in the day that I’m going to relax now.
We had heavy rain and high winds,too. I went out this afternoon to clean up a lot of twigs and branches. It was quite a job. I call handbags pocketbooks.

Another purse person here! I,too, always loved purses as a little girl.Sometimes ,after waiting patiently while my dad looked at tools in Sears, I’d convince him I needed a purse! So happy for you and Don. xo

Claudia , I wish you and Don safe travels and a wonderful trip to your beloved Paris. I will be visiting France next summer, so I am anxious to see your photos and posts. I remember my mom and grandmother calling their purses Pocketbooks and I love that.
