Since we’re getting a lot of rain, I might as well take some pretty photos of raindrops on flowers.
And leaves.
Knock on wood, the sun is shining at the moment. I don’t know how long it will last (more rain tomorrow, of course) but I’m going to enjoy it while I can. I think some time on the porch sitting on the glider is the prescription for the day. Don is going to set up his photography stand at his usual local hangout and try to take some pictures today. Wish him luck!
I’m going to relax. And read. And check out the garden beds.
I hope you have good weather wherever you are. This cycle of rain that we have been having – and will continue to have, given the weather forecast, is driving us all a bit insane. The ground never has a chance to be anything other than wet and soggy. I comfort myself with the fact that our well must be nice and full. But really, enough already!
Which brings me back to the sun. I must get going so I can take advantage of it!
Happy Saturday.
Good morning, Claudia’s. We’re in our usual summer pattern of fog in the morning burning off to sunshine in the afternoon. The ground hardly ever gets soggy, as the ground here is so sandy. And it’s flat, so water doesn’t tend to accumulate. However, we did have a spectacular sight when every rainy season one could count on the same busy corner flooding, making the curbside lane dangerous and forcing drivers to move over to make very wide right turns. It was also dangerous since it was right on the route that school kids from two schools would use as a bike route. Something got fixed (either a wider grate to the sewer or the existing grate cleaned up) though and there hasn’t been a flood in that corner for over 15 years. Enjoy time on the porch. I used to love sitting on my grandparents’ porch at their house in Eastern Canada during summer thunderstorms, which were so much more thrilling than the rainstorms we got in California.
Porches and thunderstorms are a big part of my childhood memories. We’d see how long we could wait it out until we got wet! Loved it. Thanks, Wendy.
Fortunately, lilacs still look lovely with raindrops gracing their petals. Is that lobelia planted in that pot? Enjoy your day! ;)
Yes, it’s lobelia! Thanks, Donnamae.
beautiful pictures.
we’re having rain too. our ground is saturated. and it’s cool enough for sweater and jackets!
and the forecast is perhaps back up to 90+ next week! a rollercoaster ride this spring!
It’s been the craziest spring I can remember, Tammy!
Try to comfort yourself with the idea that Mother Nature knows best. Rain now, sun later.
Mother Nature has given us far too much rain. I told her that.
Finally!! The day is the most glorious ever. 70 degrees……sunny…….Red Sox winning!! I planted some of my plants in window boxes. I’m trying to practice mindfulness and enjoying sitting on the patio watching the birds. Lovely.
It was gorgeous, wasn’t it? Now it’s raining and 20 degrees colder! But yesterday was fabulous.
Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. Those photos of the raindrops on the flowers are lovely. Have a good week end.
Marilyn
Thank you so much, Marilyn!
as lovely as your photos are, i can imagine how much more wonderful it is for you to sit and look at those beautiful flowers and smell their scents. pat yourself on your hopefully-no-longer-sore back for a job well done! well, i know the work needed to keep a garden (like weeding and watering) is ongoing, but still, enjoy the results of all your hard work … it’s beautiful!
hope you have a great weekend.

It’s worth it in the end, because we get so much pleasure from the gardens.
A well-deserved break on the porch sounds pretty good! I hope you revel in all the tasks you’ve accomplished as you sit and enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of your garden.
This is one of those rare occasions in my garden when I can sit under the cherry tree and listen to my pond without thinking about what chore comes next. Everything is pretty thanks to bulbs and perennials (and the blooming sweet woodruff which looks lovely as it covers a multitude of things undone).
My sweet woodruff is blooming alongside self-seeded white violets! So pretty!
Oh, I hope you enjoyed that sunshine. For sure not something to take for granted these days. Hope Don did well with his photographer today as well.
He did okay. The season is slow in coming. It will really pick up in June.
