Rainy Friday

November 11, 2022 at 9:21 am by Claudia

Current puzzle. Don gave me this House Plants puzzle recently. It was a little surprise because I was feeling down. It’s a lot of fun and rather difficult, to boot!

We’re supposed to get a lot of rain later today and tomorrow – the storm/hurricane that hit Florida is moving up the coast. So far, it’s dry out there, but the rain should arrive around noon. Don has been doing a lot lately and I’ve ordered him to take it easy today. That should be far easier to do if it’s raining.

Mid afternoon yesterday found me searching for a new outfit for Sophie to wear.

This fox sweater was one of the very first things I purchased when I got Sophie. I often forget that it’s there – but that color is perfect for Sophie. I was chatting with Sophie’s creator – CandyFlossRose, who lives in England – on IG yesterday. Turns out Sophie was the very first Blythe that she customized. She apparently had a large collection of original Blythes – too many, she says – so she decided to try customizing one of them to sell. Hence, Sophie. I loved hearing that story. It just makes my first girl even more special.

I’m reading Jussi Adler-Olsen’s newest – The Shadow Murders – and I’m really enjoying it. I got it via our local library system. I am on the waiting list for the newest Anthony Horowitz, which is coming out later this month. And, after writing a note to our neighboring town’s library, I’ve learned I can get a library card there, in addition to the one I already have. I always wondered why we weren’t eligible since we pay hefty school taxes there. It didn’t seem fair. The head of the library wrote me back and said she had brought that very issue up to the board last year and now it’s a done deal. Hurrah! Our neighbor to the north is a university town and has a lovely library.

Okay. Rain on the way. Second cup of coffee. Puzzle fun. Reading.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

    Good Morning Claudia,
We have rain here too. I have been wanting to suggest to you a book I have recently read that I thought very interesting. I hope that it is ok to post a site that would do a better job of describing the story and maybe you would be interested in reading it. I hope you have a beautiful day.

I love that fox sweater on Sophie. It is raining here and temps are dropping. I’m snuggled in my house reading and resting today. Recovering from the tension of my states election. Now to the run off and hoping for a good result! Hugs!

… indeed, kathy; I just put out my porch flag in honor of both my father-in-law (a veteran of both WWII and Korea) and my father (WWII), my uncle (WWII including D-Day and Battle of The Bulge), HIS father-in-law (who was a veteran of both WWI as well as WWII), my other uncle (WWI; a veteran who was a victim of getting gassed in battle, but he survived it), my longtime neighbor now passed on (WWII; was a POW in Germany when his plane got shot down) and my brother-in-law (two tours in Vietnam in the 1960s) … what they all went thru for us …

Good news about the library. I lived on county line road in Indy…the best library was in Greenwood…the road divided Indy and Greenwood…the first thing I did when I moved there…went to Greenwood paid the fifty dollar fee for being out of county…two miles away…lol…it was fine…one granddaughter got volunteered there…one started working there…summers and college break…I am still in touch with her boss…I loved the library…all the newest books…saved them for me…delightful people…also had others come in and do our taxes free. Well worth the money…here…no comment…thank goodness for Netgalley and hundreds of books. Enjoy today…we had the rain and storm yesterday…palm trees swaying in the wind…

I’ll be interested to see what I can find there. But that community is very smart and very well read, so I imagine I’ll have to fight to get a copy!

      Stay safe, Brenda.

A new library to explore. How exciting. Love Sophie’s little fox sweater. She looks warm and cozy on a wet, rainy day in November. We are watching the Remembrance Day service from Ottawa. Lest We Forget.

    Enjoy your day. Hugs, Elaine

I usually mention Veteran’s Day as my dad fought in WWII, but I’ve noted it for many years in a row.

Good news about the library. Gorgeous sweater Sophie is sporting today.

It is quite cold here today compared to yesterday, and we got quite the rain yesterday. Today is put the hoses away, before the frigid weather arrives…all four of them. I really don’t like that chore…it also signifies it really is the end of the growing season around here to me.

I am anxious to see your new puzzle completed. Sounds like a good day for it. Enjoy! ;)

I think as of tomorrow night or the next night, the temps will be so low at night that I will no longer be able to save my porch plants.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

Well, stay warm with the rain; I wondered how the Florida event might affect you further north.

I forget to tell you how much I enjoy seeing the Blythes (you’ve made them grow on me!) and how you dress/stage them. Each doll has unique personality; expression. I can’t imagine what a treat it must be to finger their little clothes; very tactile, with their teeny and gorgeously-made shoes or the fuzzy, lovely sweaters; the fine fabrics and craftsmanship. I think I can see how very satisfying this collection/hobby is for you because I’ve enjoyed something similar with other doll lines who are known for beautiful details in both doll and accessories (isn’t it great to have a lot of this out there; we girls do enjoy our dollies [Mother loved her dolls til the day she died at nearly age 90!]). It feels good to have appreciation for excellent workmanship on such a thing. You’ve made a good investment in the Blythes because you really know how to choose which, on both doll and clothes; is just a wonderful set so far, Claudia. Thank you for sharing it/them.

Hope you and Don have a cozy weekend!

I loved dolls when I was a kid but after that, I couldn’t have cared less about them. That’s why the whole Blythe thing is such a delightful surprise!. I’m so glad to hear you enjoy seeing them, Vicki.

      Stay safe.

Just watching Kamala giving Veterans Day speech. Was wondering why she did not get much coverage campaigning. God Bless our veterans. My dad was a paratrooper in WW11. Jumped on D-Day. So proud of him. Love that fox sweater! So cute! And of course we are still waiting on Arizona numbers.
    Trying to be patient!

My dad also fought in WWII. He saw a lot of horrible things and he never fully recovered from that. War takes a terrible toll.

It sure looks like Kari Lake isn’t going to win. I hope so. And I think Mark Kelly is about to win?

      Stay safe, Deb.

I put our flag out in honor of my father, who was in the Navy, as well as other family in the service. The holiday makes it feel like Saturday. I looked at Sophie’s sweater quickly and thought it was a heart at first, then saw the fox….very cute! Nice hearing about her special history! Also nice that you get to use the nearby library. It was similar where I am a number of years ago…the library was going to start charging $80 a year for those in a different city, though same county. That didn’t last long…. fortunately. Enjoy…

That sweater is adorable. I love that you are enjoying time spent with your girls. Each one truly does seem to have a personality.

We were at 71* yesterday, and the temps dropped 40* today. The highest temp over the next 7 days ahead is 38*. It has been such a nice Fall, but I guess the inevitable has arrived. 2″ of s#>w expected on Tues, and you KNOW how I feel about that.

Hope you have a good weekend and you both get some rest. As you said, rainy, cold days do tend to help make that happen. Take care.

We are right behind you. In the mid-sixties today and then the temps plummet. I find it very depressing.

Good news on the library card! I just found the last Horowitz (A Line to Kill) at costco the other day. Love his writing. Are you watching Magpie Murders? It’s a good adaptation but I think just as much I love his five minute commentary at the end of the episodes! Lesley Manville is having quite an amazing year.

Your new puzzle sounds like it will be great and pretty — and all the nicer because it was a surprise from Don. Lay low and have a good weekend. It’s getting cold here — High in the 30s. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised — but I wish the “nice” could go on a little longer!

Not watching the Magpie Murders because I’m very protective of the world my imagination created when I read the book. I love Lesley Manville, but I don’t see myself watching it.

I’m not ready for the weather change, nevertheless, it’s coming.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
