Raking and Yet More Egg Cups

March 27, 2026 at 8:28 am by Claudia

We worked outside yesterday because it was very warm – one of those lone warm days in the midst of much cooler temperatures. There was lots of raking going on, especially of fallen pods from the catalpa and all of the Item 4 (gravel) that was tossed on to the grass by the snowblower. We were tuckered out. We’re not used to that kind of activity!

Here we go:

Bucket egg cups with the message: What came first, the chicken or the egg. These charming cups were a gift from my friend, Judy. The live on top of the egg cup cubby cabinet.

Four double egg cups from the Harlequin line, which was produced by Homer Laughlin Pottery, the creator of Fiesta Ware. They also live on top of the cabinet.

Two morning glory egg cups that I found at the Flea Market in Paris.

Two egg cups from the gift shop at Abbey Studios in London. I mean, how could I resist?

Two lovely egg cups from my cousin, Eileen. She was with her husband in an antique shop in Mississippi, saw them, and immediately texted the photos to me. Beloved family.

The first was made by Royal Stafford English Bone China in England. This dragon is one side, and some flowers are on the opposite side. The pattern is Dragon Blue.

A Peter Rabbit egg cup made by Wedgwood. There’s a large group of these delightful Beatrix Potter egg cups out there. Still available.

More tomorrow. We’re winding down the tour as we head toward Easter.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

thanks again for sharing your egg-cups with us! nice to see them and learn their stories.

am sure it feels good getting all that outside work done. hope it meant you slept well last night.

cooler (31 degrees) here so today’s walk was extra-enjoyable. we’re supposed to have similar weather tomorrow … perfect (to me) for being in a crowd at a “no kings” rally downtown. will go, just need to make my sign and grab my whistle.

hope you, don and everyone else have a nice day. stay safe in every way.

Of course, you just had to get those two from Abbey studios. Why wouldn’t you? It would’ve been a crime to travel all that way and not get them. So cool. And the Beatrix Potter? There’s your next hunt possibly?

We have quite a lot of warm days coming up…perfect for continued yard work. I cannot remember being able to get outside this early before in Wisconsin. It’s bewildering to me.

I’m sure you are tired from yesterday’s yard activities…I know we were. Hopefully you can rest up. Enjoy your day! ;)

My daughters have the Beatrix Potter egg cups too! After they were born, my Mom bought them full sets of Beatrix Potter dishes. They remember using them on “special occasions” , though in truth, I made up the special occasions so they could use them, but not every day. Mom was very disappointed when Wedgewood stated making dishware outside of England. All the dishware Mom bought are made in England.

BTW, thanks for giving me a little of Don’s music background. What kind of music did he play when he was in the Samoan band?

Oh gosh, Wendy, I don’t know. But he played lap steel guitar.

The he was in a Beatles style band and they made appearances on television in Southern California.

      Then he discovered acting.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
