Reading, Movies, Dreaming

March 30, 2019 at 10:28 am by Claudia

The daffodils are shriveling and it’s time to let them go. Everything else – tulips, alstroemeria – is still going strong. And since it’s a cloudy day, I’m grateful for their lovely splashes of color.

I finished the book I was reading, which I’ll review in a couple of weeks. What next? I’m not sure. I have lots to choose from as my TBR pile grows daily. The question at the moment is non-fiction or fiction? Hmmm…

There’s not much going on here at the moment. Everything is in a holding pattern. Don did put the snow blower away in the shed, and it’s going to be much warmer here today, so I may attempt some porch clean up. One thing that I’m loving is the birdsong I hear each morning. Oh, what a blessing that is! It completely changes the way I greet the day. Soon, I’ll be hearing peepers at night.

Spring, you’re taking a while, but it’s worth the wait.

We watched Dial M for Murder  last night on TCM. Nothing better than Alfred Hitchcock.

Oh, I have to tell you something sort of funny. Yesterday morning, I woke up with the end of a dream still playing in my head. You know, that moment between sleep and waking, when you’re still not fully awake? Well, I heard the words, “Rebecca of Lunneybrook Farm.” Clear as day. And yes, you read that right. In that moment of half-sleep, my brain struggled with what I’d heard. Lunneybrook? That seems wrong. Lunneybrook? And then I woke enough to say “It’s Sunnybrook, not Lunneybrook!” I wonder what the rest of the dream was about?

Dreams are strange things. That one gave us both a chuckle.

Happy Saturday.

Claudia, dreams are funny. I used to have dreams where I’m being chased. I’d try to outrun them but could not. So I’d stop the entire action and tell everyone in my dream, “This is my dream and you all have to do as I say.” Then they’d all fall down.

It is a lovely day here except the pollen count is so high it’s scary. My cold is starting to break up. I’ve not had this kind of cough in a long time. I’m ready to feel better. I ran some errands yesterday and it wore me slap out. I haven’t seen the Grands in two weeks and I’m missing them. I may do a little visit tomorrow. Mom has not caught this so far and I’m so grateful. So more rest and praying for me, our country and so many other things. Hugs!

I can feel the pollen count rising here. My stuffy head tells me so. And nothing is blooming yet!

I hope you can see the grands tomorrow, Linda. This sounds like the sort of thing we were coping with. It was a pain in the tush!

I think that is where we now live …. Lunneybrook. A world full of Lunneys. That makes sense!

We had the nice weather you are having for the past couple of days. It is sunny today, but about 15 to 20* colder. Typical disappointment of spring.

Have fun cleaning up your porch today. Our snowblower was put away today, too. Hopefully that won’t jinx us.

I’m back among the living again. Tail end of the cold still in my head but count myself luckier than a friend who says it keeps moving from her head back to her chest and back up again. This one really knocked me for a loop. Will take me a bit to get my full strength back.

We were looking forward to getting outside and doing some garden clean up but it is cold and cloudy today so that’s out. There was one day this week when I didn’t hear the furnace run until early evening. Imagine that. The potted miniature daffodils I bought a week ago are about done so I plan to get more flowers at the market today. We get our cheer where we can until Mother Nature fully cooperates.

Glad you’re feeling better! I had the chest/head/chest thing and it drove me nuts! Take you time getting strong again.

Mother Nature is a bit up and down here as well!

The last few days were spent outdoors…we began our spring clean up. Today…it’s chilly…Spring seems to have disappeared again.

Those flowers are gorgeous…glad they are doing so well. They’s Look great with your new compote as well.

Have fun cleaning up the porch. Our snowblower was put away over a week ago…I thought it was too early, and might jinx us. But…so far so good! ;)

I haven’t really started cleanup yet. It’s been too cold (except for today) and it’s going to rain tomorrow.

Well…I haven’t actually uncovered anything yet. By clean up, I really mean trimming back bushes, hydrangeas, picking up fallen pine cones and twigs. It is still too cold here, too…and I don’t want to take any chances, especially when it comes to my hostas. ;)

That IS a good dream blip! Very real, apparently! And yes, Dial M is wonderful.

The flowers look lovely and I hope you had a most productive outside day. It sounds as though your today was our yesterday. Hope your tomorrow isn’t our today with rain, cold and gloom. Will it never be full-out spring? Well, I went to the market and bought daffs and primroses and ranunculus today and my joy quotient noticeably improved!

Dreams can be such fun. I feel a similar joy as I also awaken to bird songs and just saw a flicker of color by one of my hummingbird feeders. We did not have a winter this year. Yet, we will pay for this with a scorching summer.
I pray that I’ll be up north with my daughter and grandchildren in May. I have friends there also and perhaps I can meet a few for coffee. You are rich in so many ways. Your supply of books is one of the ways this is shown.
Enjoy your porch when it is ready.
    Best regards,

    Mary

I am rich in things that don’t cost a lot of money – or any money. Books, music, flowers, garden and my husband.

I just inherited a dollhouse from the 1950s from a relative. It’s in rough shape but still quite lovely and very solid. Will you be doing a post soon on your dollhouse? Could you give me some tips on how to begin a restoration/renovation? It really needs painting. Do you have any affordable sources for furniture online? We no longer have miniature shops or shows anywhere close to me. The only reputable shop that I cam even think of is in Frankenmuth MI. That is just too far from Detroit and too expensive for my budget. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
