Hello, everyone! Welcome to the second Reality Shot Thursday. It’s all about letting everyone in on a glimpse of real life in our homes every Thursday. I’d love to have you join us.
Remember how I described a Reality Shot as what is just to the left or right of a staged, pretty photograph? Here is my example this week. It’s not pretty.
You’ve all seen my dollhouse.
It sits in a corner of our den. I always crop every shot of the dollhouse for reasons which will be abundantly clear when you look at the photo below.
Eeek. Starting in the lower left hand corner: a big old tub full of dollhouse furniture, etc., the room air conditioner that my husband put in when I was away and sealed with blue painter’s tape. No, you’re not seeing things. Honestly, that tape is so ugly that I no longer see it. I’ve put on blinders.
Continuing the tour: two bags from Trader Joe’s full of dollhouse building and redecorating supplies, a box of coffee stirrers to be used in some future project in the dollhouse, a mug full of pencils, foam brushes and paint brushes, a can of paint, and a basket full of supplies.
Attractive, isn’t it?
I’ll give you one more shot of the air conditioner artfully trimmed in blue painter’s tape:
In my defense, I got home from Wisconsin in July. Don had already put the air conditioners in. I promptly got sick and had two surgeries. By that point, I just didn’t care anymore. And so it has remained.
We’ll be storing them away for the winter very soon. Bye, bye painter’s tape.

What a hoot, Claudia. I don’t know what we’d do without our crop tools!
Happy Thursday.

I never knew Don was so artistic… does painter’s tape come in turqoise or pink?!
Hugs,

Glass half full here, but I think it’s nice that tape coordinates with the lid on the bin. :-) This post gave me a huge smile. Thanks for keeing it real! xo -amy

Beautiful shot Claudia!
LOVE the blue painter’s tape…that looks just like something my hubby would do. Those men sure do love their tape, don’t they? lol
Karen says
Hey, it worked, right? :0)
Mary says
Well at least it’s prettier than duct tape! Men think you can stick tape on anything in life and fix it temporarily – but they always forget to remove it!
As for leaving Trader Joe’s bags around – great idea because they are always the coolest designs…………and show that you know where to buy to best food AND wine, lol!
Glad to see Maggie in Normandy has joined us, she’s a great blog friend whom I’m hoping to meet some day soon. You will enjoy ‘living the French life’ vicariously through her.
Happy day dear Claudia.
Hugs – Mary

At least you ended up with a working and cooling AC. Even with the right tools and supplies, my husband’s attempts would have required repairs by a paid professional!
Love everyone’s reality shots. Makes me feel normal, for a change. Maybe next week I will get brave enough to pick up the camera and not crop!

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that puts painter’s tape around the air conditioner!!! It’s usually the only thing I have close at hand.

Love your Reality Shot idea, can’t wait to join in.
Had to chuckle about the doll house supplies, painter’s tape, etc. Look at the photo again . . . there is at least a ‘blue’ theme going on in that corner! ;)

Hi Claudia! Now this is reality ~ I love it! Reminds me of when Jamie Lee Curtis posted the un-airbrushed pics of herself. I so wanted to join today, but it’s so dark and dreary that I can’t even get any reality shots that would show up. I’ll be working on it though.
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Fun idea. I joined in because of Maggie at Normandy Life’s post.
I think that all the coordinating blues in your photo make for an engaging shot!

You’re a Real Hoot, Claudia.
Reality, indeed.

Honestly I see “life happens”. Things like this never bother me…Mr. C however…drives him crazy and must be eliminated! Happy Reality Shot and thanks for sharing…

That is just so funny and the blue painters tape just adds to the ambiance! I love this – makes me feel a little less inferior with all those beautiful stages photos out there. Love, Linda

My heart swelled with joy and sisterhood and this! My hubby is crazy for that stupid painters tape – he thinks it’s the answer to every household problem, so we have it all over (light switches he wants left off, leaky window, it’s everywhere). And of course, as a crafter, I have tubs and piles and stacks of goodies all over.
It’s a lovely house, and sometimes I wonder if I’m nuts to have all those little pockets of chaos around. I’m so happy to see a fellow crafter who lives with it too. Sometimes it seems like all my friends live in “magazine ready” homes!

Claudia, I am laughing so hard, I’m just so glad I went to the bathroom before I sat down to this computer. I have a dollhouse too, and a plastic container full of the fixings to decorate the whole thing, but hon, you are one step ahead of me with that ac unit and the blue duct tape. I will have to join this group, this is the real world, and I know it well. I have that new Rebel camera and have yet to take 1 pic with it cause I am sure the dust will show up big time, so do I need to dust before I take a photo, probably! So maybe I should stick to outside pics of nature and just stay out of the house. Since my hubby got sick last Christmas not much gets done around here. yes, this group is right up my alley!

I need to do this with you, Claudia! Oh, do I have some reality shots to share. ;-)

Well, it seems you have struck the right chord with so many of us. I have always loved ‘reality checks’ and this is soooo fun. I remember singing Mockingbird Hill when I was a child.
