The first in a small series re: the Burning Bush. It was a bit cloudy when I snapped the picture this morning. I’ll get one with the sun shining on it later today. As I always say, the bush has become huge and it’s sometimes a pain in terms of the garden. But it provides shelter for the birds and nests are built within its branches. And of course, the big payoff is this glorious red. What a gift!

The sunlight hitting the dried hydrangeas this morning.
Well, it’s Friday and that means the World Series is starting tonight. I love the Dodgers (at least this version of the Dodgers,) but my family comes from Canada (except for my paternal grandmother) and I have deep ties to that country. And let’s face it – Toronto winning the Series would drive the clown mad. Anyway, we’ll be watching every game because we love baseball.
I’m in the middle of Clown Town, Mick Herron’s latest in the Slow Horses/Slough House series. He is such a wonderful writer. We watch the series on Apple+ and you know I rarely watch a television series based on books I’ve already read because I’m very protective of the characters that have been firmly established in my brain. But I made an exception with this one, as I’d read everything Herron has written in this series well before it started to air. It’s so well cast and very true to the world Herron has created. The actors are brilliant. Anyway, Clown Town doesn’t disappoint.
Next week, Louise Penny’s latest, The Black Wolf, will arrive on my doorstop. Will I delay reading it as usual, or will I dive in?
We’ll see. I suspect it depends on the state of the world.
I’m going to do a little repair work on the Beacon Hill today. Don and I are in self-protect mode, so we’re laying low for the day.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

glad you have so much to enjoy and, of course, being with your don. :)
here? more sorting and organizing, but also chillier walks, “the waltons”, “andy griffith”, a bit of knitting, and a teeny tiny pumpkin on the dining room table … good on their own and also helpful distractions.
stay safe.

Any helpful distractions are welcome, Kathy.
Stay safe.
The tree across the street from me is finally changing colors and I’m enjoying the view. Love your red bush. I will check out Clown Town. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks, Linda.
Enjoy yours, as well.
Stay safe.
The Black Wolf is on my Christmas list. And who knows — instant read or wait a bit? I’m goin gfor the Blue Jays, too. Just because! Your bush is beautiful and the hydrangeas, too. It’s such a gorgeous time of year!
It is! Though the wind and the rain have brought down a LOT of leaves.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Hope you both enjoy the World Series…I probably won’t watch, but I’ll be rooting for Toronto just because, lol.
We escaped yesterday to the Mississippi River…the Fall color report looked positive. But, it was not. Hardly any color to be had. But, we did find a new to us Apple orchard…so it all worked out.
I understand your indecision regarding the new Louise Penny book. I buy the book…and then it sits there just waiting for me to pick the perfect time to read it. It’s the anticipation I guess lol.
Enjoy your day…and good luck with the self-protection mode! ;)
Thank you, Donnamae!
So far, so good on self-protection. That could change at any minute.
Stay safe.
Enjoy the day and have a lovely weekend, too!
You, too, Cathy!
Stay safe.
Claudia, isn’t autumn incredible. Beautiful pictures. Our trees our pretty spectacular this year. Nature is such a part of us.
Well, I wouldn’t mind if Toronto won so the trophy doesn’t end up in the white house.
Have an lovely day!!!
Yes. Although, it probably wouldn’t because T hates California and Los Angeles.
Stay safe, Verna.
