Roses

October 13, 2022 at 9:36 am by Claudia

Surprise roses from Don. They’re really beautiful! It’s so dark here this morning that I had to resort to lots of editing in order for you to see them. We’re going to have some rain today.

We had a low-key day. Don made an apple pie for our little celebration. We toasted each other with sparkling cider. It was just perfect.

And now, on to 25!

Don’t forget, by the way, that the January 6th Committee hearing is today at 1 pm! We will be watching.

I’m officially done with my coaching now. That’s it until January, when I’m supposed to work with Darko, though that has yet to be worked out. A Man of No Importance  is so inventive, so wonderful and funny and beautifully staged by John Doyle, the director. The cast is excellent. It’s filled with love. It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long, long time.

The dialects aren’t exactly where I’d like them to be, but the director is quite pleased, so that’s good. There’s only so much I can do in the amount of time I’m allotted and that’s something I always struggle with – I want them perfect and perfection is a foolish goal.

Mae found an acorn. She’s wearing a hat made by Hilary of Moshi Moshi Studio in Cornwall, England.

Mae was customized by my friend Natalia of VegaDolls. She is so beautiful – she sort of takes my breath away.

What am I going to do for a background when winter comes along? This setting , on the porch picnic table, has been ideal. Do I want the bleak background of winter? Do I want to stand on the porch, shivering, while I take a picture? I’ll have to experiment and see.

Okay, my friends. Thank you so much for your lovely messages yesterday. I appreciate every one of them. As we were getting ready to go to sleep last night, Don said that he thought our parents would be proud of us, of our 24 years of marriage. He’s right. They would be. I hope they’re smiling down on us as we move into our 25th year of marriage.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

sounds like you and don had a lovely day yesterday … good! i am sure your parents are proud of and happy for you two. and yes, forward onto another year together!

the show sounds good, too. might you and don go see it?

when winter arrives, you will have other photo spots … mockingbird hill cottage is full of sweet backdrops for the girls. :)

we missed out on rain yesterday. it wasn’t a big chance, but it’s too bad … we need some rain. the clouds were incredibly beautiful, but high winds just pushed them by too fast.
cooler here and to be expected … almost the middle of october!

working on my plan to go through absolutely everything here and either shred (more papers) or give away things i don’t want/need. the process is taking longer than i’d like because i am very sentimental (and i am not a minimalist). also i’m not home much for enjoying time with family and when i get home (usually after 8:00 pm), i’ve run out of energy. it’s okay.

January 06 committee hearing is on today (1:00 pm eastern time, I think).

hope everyone has a good day. stay safe!

Not every winter day is freezing! You’ll think of something!

Glad you are done coaching for a bit and can get back to the business of home and the girls. And, that puzzle in the background!

I’m also thinking of the bleakness of the landscape.

      Thanks Jeanie.

You and Don had a lovely anniversary celebration yesterday. As you say, on to number 25 plus.

Mae is so cute with her treasured acorn and cute hat. Snow might make a fabulous background for pictures of the girls especially if one of them is wearing their new red swing coat. They would look like a little red bird in the snow.

Claudia, I ordered a lamb pull toy for Jessie from a vendor on Etsy. When it arrived it was a full size pull toy for a child. I was so surprised! My fault though, for not checking the dimensions. I had Googled “pull toys for Blythe dolls” on Etsy and when it came up I just assumed it was a miniature. Sadly, I know no small children that might like it. I think I’ll return it to the vendor in Florida and tell her she can re-sell it and that I’m not requesting a refund. I just want it to go to a good home.

Any sign of the Susan Branch calendar? Hope it’s not lost in the mail
    Hugs, Elaine

      Sorry about the pull toy!

The calendar may be here, I just haven’t had time to go to the post office yet, Elaine.

      Stay safe.

A great friend of mine lost her ex husband in September. He was to turn 81 in a few days. Ohio. His son died in Florida this week…right before his 52 birthday. Some people, like my family, have lost so so so many the last few years. This is why whining does not agree with me. I just can’t read some blogs because of the complaining. That is why I love this blog.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
