What a difference a good night’s sleep makes! Both of us sacked out around 10:15 and we slept straight through to 6:15 this morning. I’m still a bit groggy, but I feel rested.
I did my usual thing yesterday – when I am sleep deprived, I often feel the need to get outside and take on some chore. Yesterday, it was weed whacking, which I couldn’t do for quite a while because of the weather. Very therapeutic! Then I came back inside and took it easy the rest of the day.

Rose of Sharon. (Hibiscus)

Zinnia. Our impudent little groundhog has nibbled on some zinnia buds, which makes me frown. But, what can you do? Some years, deer are really destructive and in other years do little to no damage. Same with groundhogs. Henry, our much-missed groundhog was a true gentleman and never got into the gardens. He stuck to the grassy areas.
I have to do some work on deductions for our taxes (we always file an extension.) And I have to do some prep work on the script for Darko’s Agatha Christie adaptation. I’ll be doing that every day for the next week. The lawns will have to mowed sometime next week; growth has really slowed down, as it does every summer, but especially when we’ve had so little rain. The end-of-summer flowers have started to spring up everywhere. There’s a patch of goldenrod, some purple loosestrife, and some Queen Anne’s Lace.
Okay, time to make that second cup of coffee! Don has come back in the house after practicing guitar up in our woods. It’s rather magical up there.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

How nice for you to get back to work again. I’m sure you feel so good about using your skills and hope it leads to more jobs for you.
Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you, Ellen.
Stay safe.
glad you had a good night’s sleep.
and super-happy for you to have this work opportunity to use some of your skills and help what sounds like a cool play to be even better.

Thanks, Kathy,
stay safe.
I always learn something from your blog—never knew that Rose of Sharon and Hibiscus were the same plant. We planted one when we first moved here, but it didn’t make it.
Finished that newest Jane Casey, so…that’s all I’ll say about that.
I was disappointed in the ending. I’m not sure what she was going for, but it didn’t work for me.
Stay safe, Shanna.
I haven’t written in my diary/journal for about 6 months, So strange. I slept until 2:00, and and to rush to pick up my friend Amritdeep.
I phoned Roger, my brother. We’re so close in age. He taught me to climb the trees at the river, keep safe on the downtown streets late at night and lots of stuff. I caught a fish once with his help. We spent lots of time canoeing our beautiful river.
I went to my favorite park and found the perfect fallen tree to read and look at the turn of the river against the backdrop of the majestic coulees. I walked on the old less used trails. It was hot and lovely and the cottonwood trees’ leaves have their own rhythm. It was soul-soothing and I didn’t see anybody. Roger and I used to ride our bikes to this natural reserve park sometimes and take a sandwich.
Kathy, I quite like frogs, but not crickets. Let’s be clear, crickets and all bugs are just gross and need a shoe at them.
Our Anniversary dinner was so yummy! My husband has been helping so much outside and I’m trying to keep up with the house and cooking. I watch art videos every day but I can’t paint anymore. I’ve promised to paint the fence. I’m sad that things may not go well with my health, or better with Mike and other family too. What about my old dad? I’m too young to be sick. I’ll be 61 in October.
It’s great that you caught up with much needed sleep, Claudia. I look forward to this blog every day. Say hello to Myoshi from me. =)
Thanks, Irene.
Stay safe.

hej, irene. :)
i am glad you like frogs (every person, every creature needs love and attention, support … including the ones that kind of freak me out). and i’m glad you have happy memories, walks, watch art videos, enjoyed a nice dinner … happy belated anniversary!
i pray for everyone here, but will add specifics about your worries and health. i hope you feel better, stay cricket-free and can get back to painting soon … and not just a fence!
sending hugs (if okay).
