The trouble with going home is that you don’t want to leave.
I awoke quite early this morning and that’s when I snapped these photos. The weather is beautiful, but still hovering slightly between winter and spring. Last night the temp went down to the thirties and today it will rise to the mid-seventies. Don and I worked outside most of the day yesterday. He mowed the back forty and I weeded the garden, hauled some things out of the shed and used the two bags of mulch I had that were leftover from last year to mulch a few of my garden beds. The day started out cloudy but turned very sunny and warm and, though my back and hip ache, oh, how glorious it was to be outside, working and tending to my garden.
I feel a bit as if I have come out of hibernation.
The stresses of our life seem to be holding steady; trying to pay the bills while freelancing and living paycheck to paycheck, wondering where and when the next job will come while trying to remain positive and open to miracles. Somehow, working outside helps me to forget all of that and just be for a few hours. Sometimes, even for a day. It’s the best kind of therapy and is certainly a lesson in gratitude.
Now I have to pack up my things and get ready to hit the road for Hartford. And not think about leaving my little girl again.
Happy Wednesday.

The best therapy ever – working outside and being thankful! Have a good week in Hartford.

Thank you, Betty!

Lovely photos, Claudia! I know the feeling of money-stress!
Working outside is very healing, even if you get “all stove up”, as my mom used to say!

It’s very healing, Paula.

Beautiful pictures Claudia. I can see why you like to be home. It looks so peaceful, cozy and serene. I think a lot of us are in that paycheck to paycheck mode and the stress doesn’t ever seem to lesson does it? I’m glad you’ve enjoyed your time at home and pray that the time away will go quickly for you.
Blessings,
Betsy
Claudia says
No, the stress seems to be ongoing, Betsy!

Your yard looks beautiful. Great job! I hope you’re aches diminish soon.
I’m married to an actor as well and for years, we had to be so careful to budget for future months as projects were never guaranteed. Now that he’s moved more into film making, we’re stable but I still find we are always putting funds aside “just in case” as the industry can dry up so quickly. I love how you’ve discovered working in the garden helps to put those worries aside. Very therapeutic!
Best wishes as you savor the last moments at home with your family and travel back to your second home for now.
Claudia says
It’s a very fickle industry, Chy, isn’t it?
Beverly says
There truly is no place like home. And, your home is filled with love.
Claudia says
Thank you, dear Beverly.

Thank you, Judy.

When I am away for any long period, which is extremely rare for me now, I am such a homebody, I try to count the time passed instead of the time still to go until my return. It helps me. These days it is more likely a few days to pass, and even more recently I spent an entire day away from the house and felt relief when I returned. It’s why I feel it is so important for folks to make their homes a place of refuge, a safe place to yearn for, whether a world traveler or day tripper.
Claudia says
I do the same. I’ve been in Hartford 2 weeks tomorrow. That leaves a little over 3 weeks left. And there’s lots of work to be done in that time, Z!

Bet it’s just as difficult for family and Scout to be “here today and gone tomorrow!”
At least you hug and love sincerely!

I think Scout is fed up with all our comings and goings!

I love all your photos but the red shed speaks to me!
Claudia says
We painted that shed right after we moved in. It simply had to be red!
Robyn says
You have a really beautiful home.. The photos are perfect.. Forgetting about life’s stresses is something we all need to do more often for ourselves or else we get burnt out.. I can only imagine how rough it is to be away from home all the time.. Hopefully something will come soon where you can stay at home? Im not sure if this is how the work you do goes but that would be so nice for you..
Claudia says
Work almost always seems to be away from home. It’s the nature of working in regional theater, unfortunately. But I can hope!
Cranberry Morning says
Lovely scenes of home. My favorites are Scout and those darling jumping jacks!
Claudia says
That Scoutie is awfully photogenic!
