Scenes from Home

Scenes from around the house this week – a touch of filter added. (Sometimes I like to play around with these things.)

Birthday excitement through Daddy’s lens.

It’s been a good week. My birthday was scrumptious in every way. We bought material for some shelves in the den. (Now I have to sand and stain the wood before we put up the standards and brackets.) I have a very interesting story to share with you next week about ‘getting out of the way’ and letting the answer reveal itself and it has to do with Don. But that’s a post in itself. Anyway, that happened this week. I’ve been a bit lax in my reading habits this week – too many distractions. But I hope to better that in the next few days. Scout has had some rocky days, but she’s slowly feeling better.

Thanks for all the stimulating discussion on the part of yesterday’s post that concerned Bill Cosby. The friend of a friend I mentioned, who first told her story via Facebook (as did my friend)? Her story has gained traction because she’s a fairly well-known actress. It’s now on several sites on the web.

I’m afraid, for me, the votes are in. Too many similar accounts. Too many women with no ax to grind, only a need to tell their own story in support of every other woman who has been brave enough to speak out.

And I know someone who had her own ‘experience’ with Cosby.

There are no winners here.

Happy Sunday.

Such beautiful images from around your cottage. I especially love the one with the piano and dollhouse in it, the light from the window is perfect.

I’ve seen the most recent news regarding Bill Cosby, and the actress you’re probably referring to. It makes me feel sick to think of all the women who were assaulted/raped by him. I’m sure there are many who don’t want to come forward for various reasons.

I have a feeling we’ll be hearing from more and more women.

“Monty in the jungle”. That made me smile.

At the risk of sounding vapid, photos of the dollhouse and MHC are what initially brought me to your blog. I like to think of reading MHC in the mornings as one of those small pockets of beauty/humour that help sustain me through the day at what can only be described as a grim job. Yesterday’s post caught me off guard, so I was probably one of the last to comment. Perhaps in part because I live in the remote north , I see almost daily the results of alcohol/drug abuse and violence toward women.

I applaud your raising the topic for discussion and I thank you for creating a “safe”place within the MHC blog where women from all over can “meet” and speak.

Oh, I talk about all sorts of things on this blog, Barbara. You’ve only to go through the archives to discover that. It’s not all dollhouses and pretty flowers, that’s for sure.

So happy you had a good week! The images are so special of your ‘nest’ and your loved one’s. I’m getting ready for Thanksgiving and trying to keep rested at the same time…sometimes impossible.

Claudia, Glad you had a good birthday. I like the pictures. I agree about B. Cosby….and it hurts at the same time…because some of us did not know and thought highly of him…he absolutely needs to apologize to everyone. Myself, I do not think there should be any time limits on prosecuting a crime. Hope you , Don and Scout have a great thanksgiving. xoxo,Susie

I know – the time limit does make it difficult. And I believe a lot of this happened before DNA was used in evidence. So….it makes it almost impossible to prosecute.

I was such a fan of Cosby, back even to his I Spy days. But have slowly, but surely, come around. Your info about your friend helped me as I so trust you and your ethics. Thanks for that, Claudia! The only puzzle left for me is Camille???? What she knew? And their poor daughters! He was such a voice for what I felt was positive change in the young black community. Wonder how that will change? Or Will it? In the meantime, here in MO we pray for a peaceful change in Ferguson – if indeed one is needed.

Puzzles, indeed, Dottie. I doubt we’ll ever know the whys of the whole thing>

I’m thinking of you in MO and praying there will be peaceful reactions to the decision.

The pic of the sunlight, piano, dollhouse, vase, artwork….such beautiful composition! As far as Cosby is concerned…despicable behavior. I used to have fond memories of the man…emphasis on ‘used to’. I don’t understand that mentality that certain men exhibit…..never will. But, it is reassuring to me, that women are binding together, standing up for each other, and coming forth. On another note…I’m curious to read about that thing with Don! ;)

Sorry I missed reading yesterday..was out of town at a family bazaar I go to every year..besides crafts and new things they also sell vintage Christmas items and old linens at very low prices..that is what I go for..a 45 minute drive but very worth it..I’m so glad that you had a wonderful birthday with your loving little family..As for Mr Cosby..it is a sad thing to hear of indeed..I have always thought of him as a wonderful family man..because that is the way he was portrayed on TV I suppose..it is so hard to accept that someone we admire is not what we thought they were at all..especially a crime as horrible as rape..just so sad..

Love the shot of the doll house and piano.
    Anxious to hear your story.
After I read what you said about Cosby, It was enough to convince me. I’m sure that the women were afraid to come forward. What a shame as he was looked up to as a role model. I’m glad the women are coming forward. Hopefully it will provide closure for them.
I hope the three of you have a nice Thanksgiving.

Lovely pictures Claudia, I especially admire the sunlight streaming in and shown in shadow on the wall. Brilliant!

I also want to thank you for writing about Cosby yesterday. I’ve so been wanting to connect with other women about issues such as this, that I recently began to consider starting a blog sharing some of my skills and discussing issues. However, as I looked around the web I thought it will never go because no one else does it. Then I go to feedly to check everyones articles and there you are having the kinda talk I’ve been craving. Thanks again!

I love seeing Scout. Hate hearing when she isn’t feeling well. I wish she would never have to have another pain. She is so loved–As is Riley.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
