It’s a low-key weekend. That’s good and bad. I have a three day expanse of time with very little happening. Good. And Don isn’t here. Not so good.
His show opens tonight. Jimmy Buffett has been there all weekend and he rehearsed Margaritaville with the cast and made a surprise appearance at Friday night’s curtain call. The audience went wild. He’ll be there tonight as well. His band is also there with him.
If you remember, Don auditioned for him and Jimmy was also there at the start of rehearsals. Don tells me that seeing the show for the first time was very emotional for Buffett. It’s the first time he’s heard Margaritaville sung live by someone else, as well as the rest of the score. Tonight promises to be very exciting for everyone involved.
Happy Opening, Don!
And Happy Sunday.

Happy Opening Don! Enjoy, enjoy!
Claudia says
Thanks, Tana!

Yes, Happy Opening, Don…and Jimmy! Wish I could be a fly on the wall. The older I get, the more I admire Jimmy Buffet. DH has been a big fan for a long time.
Your flora and fauna photos are so pretty and I envy you your hedgehog and bunny sightings. What is the pink, spiky, cone-like bloom in the first picture?
Claudia says
It’s Veronica, Shanna. Also known as Speedwell.
Linda @ A La Carte says
I love your yard, so many wonderful things growing there. So excited for Don and I know you wish you could be there also. I’m a big Jimmy Buffet fan so this show would be awesome to see. It’s a slow weekend here also. I did do a lot of work in my spare room and it felt good. I have been sick for so long and now that I’m feeling better I want to get back to getting my home more organized.
I’m watching Annie Belle watch the birds at the feeders this morning. She just enjoys looking at them as much as I do! Oh she headed for her bed, nap time I guess…all that ‘watching’ made her sleepy. She is a cat after all! Hugs!!
Claudia says
And cats love to sleep, Linda!

Exciting night for Don…wishing him a happy opening! Love your pics this morning…is that first one in the memorial garden, speedwell? I bought some this year…and the tag had that name on it…can’t find the tag now. Cute bunny pic…gotta love those ears! No real agenda here today…guess it’s a good day to enjoy the day! ;)
Claudia says
Yes, it’s Veronica/Speedwell, Donnamae.
Donnamae says
Ah…thanks. It’s in pots right now with other plants. I am going to transplant in early fall to a garden bed. It is so pretty…it was irresistible! ;)
Claudia says
Same here. I couldn’t resist!
Dawn Brasfield says
Thanks for posting about Fleabane. I have it in my yard every year and never knew what it was.
Enjoy your blog. Dawn in Georgia
Claudia says
You’re welcome, Dawn. (I had to research it in order to discover it was Fleabane.)

Break a leg, Don! Do you think the show might tour, Claudia? Or rights given to other playhouses? It would be great if my local community theater can perform the show.
Claudia says
It won’t tour until after it opens on Broadway – I think it’s going to Broadway, but don’t know who will be in the cast – Tours don’t usually start until a year or so after the Broadway show opens and the rights for other theaters to perform it will be well after that.

Beautiful photos from around your cottage. When I saw the fleabane, I showed it to Brian and excitedly said, “So that’s what’s growing in our ditch!” Years ago, we filled the ditch in front of our house with daylilies, but this year, a daisy-like plant with a pinkish-purplish tint appeared in front of the lilies and we were wondering what it was. Now we know.
I love Jimmy Buffett…Margaritaville sounds so exciting! Would love to see it. Happy opening, Don!
Claudia says
I don’t know who will be in the cast but it is going to play in Chicago in October, I believe. They’re taking it to a few cities before it opens on Broadway (at least they say it’s opening on Broadway!)
Vicki says
And so you don’t know…yet…if Don is going to part of a continuing/traveling cast? I think we touched on that before. But it must be hard to plan; like, it certainly sounds that your trip to England and Paris is on hold.
Claudia says
We don’t know. No one knows. There are a couple of months between the end of this run and a few short runs in Chicago and New Orleans and one other city in October. Then Broadway, or so they say, in 2018. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about theater, film and television, it’s to just live in the moment. There are no guarantees. There have been several times in the past where Don has been promised something only to have it taken away. And Broadway is a whole other animal. Then you get producers by the bucketfuls. And name recognition. So…who knows?
Vicki says
I like that Jimmy Buffett is so hands-on with the musical! He’s certainly tried a lot of different things in his life, from writing books to opening stores, etc. (besides his musical career).
Fun to see your bunny-in-motion photos. Long legs!
Yesterday, I broke a hard rule with myself. I drove by an ‘estate sale’…and stopped. I never go to yard sales or estate sales; I had to curb that awhile back; I already have too much stuff and am trying to purge. But I knew the house; near where I used to live. I knew new people had moved in. They were very nice. Tables and tables of things. I asked for the backstory. “Dad” had passed; child of The Great Depression. A borderline hoarder although I think that word is overused/abused. Sounded more, to me, that he was a avid collector/saver. He’d wanted to open an antique/secondhand store with his first wife but she died fairly early in their marriage. (He moved on and had a long life with a second wife who didn’t share his interest in collecting.) So he put it all in storage and there it safely sat for 40 or 50 years. Now, the daughter is having to deal with all that stuff (she’s in our age group). She apparently brings in loads at a time, tries to not get overwhelmed, recruits the neighbors, goes thru it, has a yard sale or does freecycle; donates. I’ve missed her other sales; didn’t know this was going on (not a bad thing; I’d probably want too much). Gosh, even a lot of the cardboard boxes full of things…the cardboard/printing itself…was true vintage. Most of the ancient furniture needed repair but, oh gosh, so many ceramics and a lot of glassware/stemware/crystal. I am sometimes drawn to pottery from the 20th century, anywhere from 1920s to 1950s, of amateurs…pottery painters; ladies/homekeepers doing that from their kitchen table (paint your own). The pieces were often somewhat big, for a dresser or tabletop or shelf. I’ve read that sometimes a lady might even own her own kiln. But this was totally a hobby, not a profession/career; was popular also in the 1800s with ladies of refinement. Anyway, I did pick up a ‘pretty’ piece of this pottery (there were a half dozen; sure looked like 1940-ish), which was a bashful young woman with beautiful eyelashes holding a basket of flowers; perfect condition (whereas sometimes these things of old are so chipped/cracked). Kind of a sweet thing. Like I needed it…but she spoke to me…and it’s very detailed with nice, compatible colors; some woman out there, probably long since passed, spent a lot of time carefully painting the piece. Maybe it helped her de-stress; was a way she self-expressed or brightened up her home…made her feel productive or accomplished…but I admire the output!
Different subject. Claudia, you know how we’ve had several discussions here on the blog about it, any of us…about what happens to a blog when the blog owner just suddenly vanishes after posting regularly for years and years…and it leaves the dedicated readers just hanging, fearing something terrible has happened to the blog owner, the whole thing being so sudden and abrupt; like if you, Claudia-yourself, just cold-turkey stopped your blog with zero explanation? Well, one of the first blogs I visited, ten years ago I imagine, has had this occur. She just never came back one day. Pffttt; gone. No lead-up to it. No hints. Now, I see that after going an entire year awol, she’s back to her blog although less frequently. Her only explanation was that she’s been busy. Which is fine, I get it, it’s her blog and I guess she doesn’t even need to explain…but don’t you think out of courtesy, after developing a loyal audience over years, she could have come in ONCE over the year to say, “Hey, I didn’t die or get sick or have something horrible happen; life is just busier and I don’t have enough time to keep up the blog right now.” As readers, we would have understood. It may be cyber, but it’s a relationship! So, short and long of it, I read a few of her new posts from the past weeks (is just recycled content/photos) and I find I’m just not interested anymore; I don’t feel the same way about her. Am I weird? Taking things too personally?
Claudia says
No, I don’t think you’re weird – I totally understand. As I see it, if you are a blogger and you know you have followers, you owe them an explanation. Taking into account that some time might elapse where one might be too busy, or ill, or any one of a number of things – at some point, the blogger must write a short post explaining. At the very least, this would allay the worries of readers who think the blogger is terribly ill, or even dead. I think it’s selfish and rude.

Such pretty photos Claudia. I love little Henry!
It looks as though Spring is alive and well at your home.
I know that is a pleasure seeing your hard work to life every Spring~~~
Love,

PS~~ what’s your guess on a chance at a Watergate type happening in DC ? Just wondering…
Pence is NOT my cup of tea nor is cold hearted Ryan, if Trump got the dump……none care , really care about the poor, the sick, the needy or aged. It’s an act. (or used to be but now they do not even hide it!) I am a professional Social Worker and I assume at times all of us can tell, but I think working with that population from the past, it really makes one want to choke. gag.
I make it a point to watch Fox for a few minutes and gag, listen weekly to a short piece from limbaugh. ..no wonder those viewers were snowed. HATE has a long history.
Claudia says
I think a lot of people are going to be indicted and will go to jail. From what I’ve been reading on Twitter and in other places, sources predict that Pence will go down as well as Ryan. That’s why you see people talking about President Hatch – because apparently Orrin Hatch is next in line. Personally, I think that because the election was illegally stolen by collusion with Russia, that Hillary should be President. But I don’t think there’s anything in the Constitution that allows for that.
Although we’ve never had anything like this happen before. It makes Watergate look like child’s play. But the same thing holds true: “Follow the money.”
