Signs of Life & Square #12

March 12, 2010 at 8:42 am by Claudia

Ah. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. The last few days have been sunny and (relatively) warm. The massive yard and garden clean-up has begun. The first thing I do is look for signs of life, camera in hand. Raking the winter cover of leaves reveals little miracles. They are there – peeking out of the ground, buds emerging on bushes like my little lilac. Every year I am amazed at the rebirth of the garden, the grass and the trees. Small signs; but they give me hope after a long winter.

Square #12:

My version of a shabby chic chair…..

We’re in for 4 days of heavy rain. The sunny days are leaving for a bit but the temperature each day is getting warmer. I have a lot to do outside before I leave for San Diego. A lot.

Have a great day.

LOVE your little blue glasses!! That was a clever square! I’m having so much fun following along with the 39 squares! I think I will start this with my daughter when she comes home from college for the summer!

    Hi Claudia,

Your squares are really coming along. The chair is ever so cute. By the way, I’m using the white hankie you sent me on the Tussie Mussie I’m making for the swap. I’ll send you pictures.

Claudia, that chair is so cute! And I’m hoping that our poor grass will return. Florida grass is funny when it’s not used to being frozen three times for long periods and when it was sick before. I hope.

If you get a chance, pop over to see my leprechauns. I want you to see the mugs because I think you would get a kick out of them.

Just want you to know that I will be MIA for the next two weeks because I’ll be getting ready for Claudie’s visit (major cleaning) and then the visit itself. Wish you could be here to play with us, Claudia. Several Pinkies will be. Please don’t forget me while I’m gone…

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

the shabby chair stiching is wonderful.

How lovely to see some signs of life. We’ve had a cooler than normal winter but things are coming up now.

Just wish they’d hurry up and bloom so I can see what all these mystery plants I have in my garden are :-)

After seeing your post I took a walk around my garden. Our snow is melting but not many signs of spring yet here in western NY. I love your shabby chic chair.

    Hi Claudia,
Love those signs of life! I read that freezing temps yield more blooms on lilac bushes. I hope so.
    Have a nice rainy weekend,

Now how long did you say you’d be gone? You can email if you want on that one. You’re doing great with these squares! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one out there with a stick softly moving things around in the dirt looking for green life! And your new banner is lovely, Claudia. I’m playing catch-up now on my blog reading. (Thanks for the sweet comment. Brought tears to my eyes.)

    Claudia,
first I have to say I love the new look! Great background and header.
How sweet you found some green peaking out. The rain you are expecting will help it all along. I love your sewing basket too. You are such a busy girl. I see you have gotten more squares done. How many will there be?
Thank you for your kind words on my post.
    Blessings always!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
