Yesterday was gorgeous: warm, sunny, breezy. Interestingly, both Don and I remarked at the end of the day that it was too warm…too sunny. I think that means we weren’t quite ready for such a big change. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the day.
I walked around the property. Another old and dead tree had fallen up in the back forty. The shingles on the back side of the shed roof are being destroyed by high winds. Time for a tarp, because we won’t do anything to repair them until we have to replace the roof on the house – then we’ll do it at the same time.

There’s a heck of a lot of cleanup that needs to be done, but I’m not uncovering the garden beds yet. I’ll give it a couple of weeks.
I will say that by the end of the day yesterday, Spring Fever had taken over. I’m almost happy that it’s going to rain today as it’s too early to do anything out there and I need to tamp down on that fever. Heck, we still have the snow blower and shovels on the porch because we don’t want to jinx things.
Today? Cleaning the tub. As we have hard water, cleaning anything involving water is a pain in the tush. But I’m in the mood, which is rare, so I’m going for it.

This is birthday weather for us. Even though I know it is still technically winter, I’ve always felt I was born in the spring. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

It’s nice to see your greens peaking through the earth. I haven’t seen anything yet, here. But our yard is quite mushy still…so I hesitate to venture out into the yard.
It is sunny here today, so even though chilly, it gives the grass a chance to green up. I’m growing 3 silver maples…started from seed…in a pot. It’s been in the garage all winter by a window. And yesterday I noticed all three seedlings have new leaf buds on them. It’s kind of an experiment…but, I am thrilled, nonetheless.

Yes Spring is almost here. We still have the snow shovels on the front porch. We know it can snow in April. Our late friend’s son was born during a snow storm in April. We ave a lot of cleaning up to do in the back yard.

I sort of don’t feel that we’ve “earned” spring this year. But we haven’t really had a spring in a while, so this year could be special if we don’t go right into hot, humid summer. Are you sleeping any better? The last week has been hellish for my sleep and my husband reports that he too isn’t getting rested. It might be too warm in the house or it might be our brains spinning from too much scary stuff. I hope to see some forsythia popping open soon to brighten the landscape.
I’m sleeping better, but I still wake up a lot during the night. Too much scary stuff and, in our case, definitely too warm in the house. I heard Peepers last night, so spring is here, Nora.
