I took these photos late Sunday afternoon when the sun was hitting the rooms in the dollhouse. I posted them on Instagram Stories, but not all of you do IG, so I thought I’d post them here. The text on the pictures is a result of posting them on Stories (the equivalent of a caption.)

I love this house.

There. I’ve said it.

Sunny this morning after the fog burned off, but rain is coming this afternoon. Oh joy. I know we need it, and I’m grateful for it, but with the soil and grass continuously soggy, there’s not a lot that I can do out there!

We watched part one of the third season of Unforgotten  on PBS. It airs on Sunday nights at 10 pm here (the NYC public television station.) Too late for us, so we watched it on demand yesterday. I love this series. Nicola Walker is consistently excellent in everything she does. We’re big fans. It centers on cold cases. Very well done.

Today’s egg cups:

Little boys – and a dog, to boot. These are favorites of mine.

And, as we watched the end of Shall We Dance  with Ginger and Fred early yesterday evening, I saw this:

I ran out to the front porch to capture it. Gorgeous.

Happy Tuesday.

The dollhouse looks lovely in the afternoon sunlight – great photos!

Unforgotten is broadcast here by PBS on Sunday evenings. I love that series although I feel like I’ve been through an emotional wringer by the conclusion of each season. (I suppose getting that invested in the characters means the actors did a stellar job.)

It looks like rain here later today, but at least we don’t have to shovel it. Can’t wait to be able to fling open all the windows..

Yes, it’s a tough one, but worth it.

I opened some windows this morning. Trying to get some air circulating before the rain comes!

I loved seeing your doll house up close. The room with the blue book case is my favorite and there is even a tiny Afghan over the sofa! Thanks for blogging and sharing. Enjoy the Spring day!

Yes! Unforgiven is a favorite of ours. Looking forward to Fosse/Verdon tonight on FX.
Caroline’s copper is soooo much better taken care of than mine! We (I) have given in to the low maintenance beachy look of green and brown, splotched and dotted copper cookware around here. But that shiny-bright stuff in Caroline’s kitchen is pretty wonderful!

That might be one of the reasons I avoid copper pans in real life! I would not take good care of them. Fred is so sweet – he sent me a link to some Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs merchandise on Craigs List. xo

wowee … what a beautiful sunset! can’t help but say “thanks, God!”

your parade of egg cups at eastertime makes me smile. thanks, claudia!

great work on the dollhouse, too, and catching that sunlight!

thanks also for sharing what new shows/movies you watch and books you read. my “to be watched/read” list is very, very long, but i always add on your suggestions … they sound great!

except to learn the weather in winter or if there’s a big event happening, i don’t watch the late news (and sleep better for it), but for several years my family and i lived far enough east of here to be in the eastern time zone. don’t know how anyone does it, watching tv shows so late and the news doesn’t even start until 11:00 pm! :0 i cannot do it.

hope everyone has a good day … and has their taxes done! said as someone who e-filed yesterday and just got the notice today that my tax returns have been accepted by the irs and the state. whew! don’t know why i put it off … i am happily, thankfully getting refunds! i hope the numbers are in your favor(s), too.

We always file an extension, but nevertheless, this will be a dicey year for us. Performers, actors, those in arts – (Plus a whole lot of other people) have been screwed over by the Tax bill. Don can no longer take deductions for the commissions he pays his agents, for union dues, for out of town expenses (nor can I). That bill has done a lot of damage for those who freelance (such as actors and myself) in the arts. Don’t get me started on how angry it makes me.

oh, sorry to hear that for your sakes, another friend and for my dear brother (they freelance, too)!

i would very much like to hear why those who vote for such things as that tax bill make their decisions, what tips the scale for them, how they justify forcing hurtful, hardship decisions on the rest of us that somehow benefit them. don’t know that they’d like to hear from me!

still i hope the returns come your ways.

i understand how some lobbyists influence votes and that most people (even politicians) worry about job security, but what i’d really like to hear from politicians is how they can – within their own hearts and minds – honestly justify voting for bad bills (“bad” can be subjective, i know) to constituents, to their family members and friends, to themselves …

i pray for better things, including changes in “leadership” and for seeing the big picture, not just voting along party lines or for what may get someone to help fund their upcoming election to keep their job. and maybe they will soon finally at least get rid of filibustering.

I am looking for seasons 1 and 2 of Unforgotten, I don’t use on demand or Hulu but I have Prime and Netflix. Is season 3 a stand-alone? Loved the sunset on IG, so pretty! I mailed a big ol FAT check to the IRS….I almost put “demand accountability! ” on the memo line!

Yes, it’s a stand alone. They’re all stand alones, so wherever you can start is okay.

The doll house looks lovely and such fine detail in the contents. I watched the third series of Unforgotten last summer. It’s very good. I’ve just started on Line of Duty series 5 – the whole series are excellent and so gripping. It’s from the same writer as the Bodyguard (not the Kevin Costner film). I hope they’re available to you.
I’ve also watched a really interesting four part travel documentary series with Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) called Islands of America where he starts in Hawaii and finishes on an island off the coast of Maine, visiting both huge and tiny islands that lie off your coastlines.

The light in the dollhouse is beautiful. I fear we are having rain again today. I am still coughing like crazy. I do think it is what you and Don had. Takes forever to get over. Therapy this morning and now back in bed. I’ve been getting lots of rest and it’s the only thing I can do. I have never watched Unforgotten but it does sound like something I would like. Maybe add to my bedridden sick list of things to watch. Ha!

Beautiful sunset. Hummingbird Cottage has the same cozy eclectic feel as your own cottage. You asked if anyone else does not get email notification of your response to blog comments we leave. I’ve noticed that I have to check the box “subscribe to comment’ each time I leave a comment. I think it saved that setting in the past and now it needs to be checked each time.

    Claudia,

Lovely dollhouse! I really enjoy the close up detail you have shared in each room. The little crocheted blanket on the sofa is a sweet touch. Did you make it? I am not sure I could choose just one favorite room, as they each have something special. The wallpapers, the colors, the textures and the little wall of plates, everything you have done is just charming. Do you add to this house or is it “done?” I really need to work on mine. It is just a tiny little house, much like the one you recently rescued.

Thanks for sharing about “Unforgotten.” Did you happen to watch Mrs. Wilson on PBS?

Your sunset was very pretty. I love to see the variety of sunsets through the seasons. Ours are especially dramatic during the winter months.

It’s pretty much done. It took me six years in total.

We want to see Mrs. Wilson, but so far, PBS is only offering Part 2 & 3 On Demand and obviously we want to see it in chronological order.

“Unforgotten” is exquisite — so well acted, directed and written. I really admire the team that is part of this series and I’m glad it’s back.

Your dollhouse is wonderful. I especially love the den — I think I could move into that room now, if only I could shrink down like Alice!

I’m surprised PBS Passport doesn’t have all three parts of Mrs. Wilson available for streaming. Which reminds me, they have some things streaming that haven’t aired on stations. I need to catch up.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
