This post will be rather short. Someone who lives in this house with me neglected to contact our security company about a low battery warning we had on a smoke detector, even though I asked him twice, and at 4 am I woke up to non-stop beeping/chirping.
Needless to say, I am not in a good mood. I was already sleep deprived and this has sent me over the edge.
He knows he’s in trouble and he’s steering clear of me. Wise choice.

Phlox in the big garden bed.

More of the big garden bed.

Rose of Sharon.
I’ll be back tomorrow, of course. Hopefully, I’ll be feeling much more rested.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

drats and feel/sleep better!
gorgeous flowers. glad you have them to look at and enjoy. saying without pressure intended that those photos of yours would make beautiful greeting cards, look inspiring on seed packets and i think they’d do well if entered in your state fair’s photo competition. :)
last night went to a new event center in a smaller town west of here to do something different. been to lots of authors’ talks/book readings, but this was watching a movie that was followed by a discussion and questions with the lead actor (something i’ve not seen offered around here before). it was “high fidelity” with john cusack. not my favorite movie of his, but had a good time. arrived home about 10:30, got out of the car just in time to see a frog or a toad hop into the garage. ):( did a little screaming (not in anger, but in my fear of jumping creatures), grabbed a broom and spent what felt like way too long trying to get him out of a corner and back outside without him jumping at me. finally succeeded (by prodding and a bit more yelling, not hitting or touching him) and could go inside, knowing he would not be stuck in a very warm garage. helped me sleep better (better than you did for sure) … but phileas’ cousin needs to stay outside!!!
now, on to a long to-do list. best to tackle in the morning anyway (for me) … it’s going to get hot again.
hope you, don and everyone else have an easy day and stay safe in every way.
kathy
Thanks so much, Kathy. I’ve seen that Cusack is on a sort of tour. I like him.
Stay safe.
Oops! Hopefully you can catch a nap later? Take care…and enjoy those garden views! ;)
Didn’t get a nap, but I slept a lot overnight so I feel better today.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
This reminds me of something that happened at my parents house. We (various kids/inlaw kids) started hearing about a cricket in their laundry room and how it was driving them crazy and they couldn’t find it, didn’t want to get exterminators in for one cricket, etc. It was reported to be very intermittent time wise, so sometimes they hoped it was gone but it always came back. They named it Jimeny, of course.
None of us paid much attention, its always something, right?
Then my husband and I were over there and WE heard it and went to look in the (cluttered….but none of the clutter could be disposed of, they might someday need a thousand paper grocery sacks, etc). Anyway, we found a radon alarm, still in the box, that was beeping because its original battery was on its last legs, but not very loud or very often.
Problem solved but we still laugh about it. Probably too soon for you to get a chuckle, eh?
Ceci
Love that they thought it was a cricket!
Stay safe, Ceci.
too funny story! I was frying sausage for supper last night and must have had the burner on too high. Went downstairs, going through papers when I heard the fire alarm. The kitchen and living room (all our house) was smoking. The dog was cowering right near the alarm, maybe she wanted to attack the alarm. I ended up throwing away the pot holder. Mike heard the alarm and ripped the alarm off the ceiling. I was mad at Mike because the alarm is so cheap. Now I realize we didn’t replace the fire extinguisher when we had the kitchen refurbished 2 years ago. AGAIN I was mad because Mike hasn’t bothered to pick one up. We ate shrouds of burnt sausages. Mike went back to the garage in silence and I cried.
Today I’ve stayed in. My hair color turned brassy and I think I may have jaundice. Aunt Sarah wants me at the hospital, but I don’t want to if I can help it. I can get an ultrasound in a larger city Aug 18. The one here was for Nov 3! I’m afraid of surgeries and hospitals altogether. I was going to say the prayer last night , Now I lay me down to sleep. I think that’ll do it, don’t you? Tomorrow is our anniversary, I may just have to hold onto that prayer for a couple days.
I sure hope you feel better soon, Irene. May good health return.
Thinking of you.
Stay safe.
