Almost forgot to post today! Don is off to a gig at a Farmer’s Market. The protests weren’t scheduled yet when he booked it. So we’ll be protesting virtually, as he has our only car. And I’ll be praying for storms in the DC area.
I’ll keep this brief.
An indication of the size of the spirea, but it’s also misleading as it surrounds the hydrangea, so from this aspect you’re missing the fact that it goes way back. I’ll try for another photo when it stops raining. It was a tiny little bush when I purchased it and I had no idea it would spread so much. I need to cut some of it back.
Another of the wildflowers that pop up near the big garden bed. This one is so exquisite! If anyone knows the name of this one, I’d love to know.
If you missed yesterday’s post, Audrey made her debut. She’s a Little Keiko doll and I did the face up. Not perfect, but pretty good! Her eyes are green, by the way, but since I purposely took a moody photo on this rainy morning, they look darker than they are. I was sure her eyebrows were going to be darker than they are and that would have been fine, but they match her hair perfectly.
I’m praying for the safety of all involved in the marches, and of everyone at risk in this insane assault by EYEC (purposely misspelled.) We will overcome.

i’ve only ever known white spirea, but the pink sure is pretty too.
i looked through our midwest “kaufman’s field guide to nature” to try to help identify that pretty wildflower. so far the closest possibility i’ve seen may be “claytonia virginica / spring beauty”, but it’s hard to say from a small photo in the book showing a different angle than your own photo. good luck with solving the mystery.
also good luck with and prayers about the weather and don’s gig, and to everyone out at “no kings” protests. stay safe in every way.

fed earl and the birds, and went for a walk well before 8:00 … already quite humid here. grateful for air conditioning and curtains, among many other things.

Being an Army veteran, the protests that is happening on the 250th birthday of the Army makes me sad because of hatred for one man..
No one is protesting the Army.
But the responsibility is on him. He commandeered this day and the army’s birthday because he wanted a parade – for himself. I’m sorry for the Army. They deserve their own celebration that is not linked to a tyrant and draft dodger’s need for attention. He called service members “suckers and losers.”

it’s unfortunate that flag day and this parade are the same day as you-know-who’s birthday. i think his purpose for this parade clearly shows through his other actions and that he’s made no mention (that i’ve found anyway) of the navy and marine corp getting parades for their own 250th anniversaries this year. what a shame, to put it mildly.

Beautiful wildflowers! You did a great job with Audrey! I just got back from our local protest…great turnout, probably close to 300 people! All very peaceful!

just got back from NO KINGS protest on Port Jeff Long Island. there were many of us in the rain with signs and with the exception of a few trump flagged cars we got lots of support. It was peaceful and reassuring that there are likeminded people who value the Constitution and are opposed to trump and his illegal tactics. Yes trump is part of the tick problem we have. He is a lunatic. I had a tiny nest in a hanging plant….they hatched and left and now I am taking my plant back. Poor thing needed a repotting but seems good as new. As I write this I am watching a chubby chipmunk about to scamper under our shed….his summer home.
My air conditioner died…two weeks after the Warranty period. Too costly to fix. Not sure what we will be doing. I am tired. Do not want to think of anything now….love looking at your plants and the dolls and your fairytale cottage.
I hope Don doesn’t have bad weather. I know how those roads can be. I lived in the Hudson valley most of my life. The area is beautiful but lots of winding roads. I miss it.

Our No KIngs protest in Naperville, IL was terrific. We had a huge turnout with wonderful weather. Police were all around keeping us safe and there was never any trouble at all. Everyone with great signs, chanting, marching – cars driving by honking and waving to support us. Felt so wonderful to be there.
