Spring Fever

February 28, 2018 at 10:17 am by Claudia

It was so sunny and warmish yesterday that I opened the front door.

And now I have spring fever, even though the calendar tells me it’s only February 28th.

I can’t help it, though. Today will be even warmer and then the temps will drop back to the forties and it will rain for a few days. Again. We’ve had so much rain lately. But it will make for a very green spring on the property and in the garden, so there’s that.

Anyway, I’ll enjoy this while I can!

Our chippy chair. I’ve never attempted to fix it because we like it the way it is. It reminds me of Hansel and Gretel. Or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Don has two shows today and then has a 5:30 am call at the Today Show on Thursday. Luckily it’s only a few blocks away from the apartment. (Better him than me!) I’ll just sit back in my chair with a cup of coffee and watch.

Opening Night is March 15th, so it’s not far off. I have to find something to wear, a task I dread nowadays. Next week, I’ll start looking. Wish me luck.

In case you’ve been missing her.

I talk to her every day. Between Stella and the plants, I have a lot of conversations going.

Happy Wednesday.

oh, there is nothing to “fix” on that pretty green chair!

best wishes on the clothes shopping for that very special occasion! hope you will include a photo or two (please and thanks).

i have spring fever, too! we have a twenty degree drop in the high temperature from yesterday to today, but it’s still beautiful and mild enough to get out and enjoy it. plus there’s the start of daylight saving time on march 11 (i sure wish they’d change it by a half-hour, then leave it that way permanently) … hooray!

hope it’s a good day for everyone.

I’ve gained weight, so I’m not looking forward to the search, if you know what I mean.

Good to know when we switch to daylight savings time! Soon!

i do know what you mean … and it’s no fun, is it? fortunately, warmer weather and more daylight after work means i can get outside more. when exercise is something fun, i am more likely to do it (plus being in nature is restorative for me). i am not into trends about anything (in fact, the skirt i am wearing right now was made for me by my beloved mother 30 years ago) and, especially for turning 60 next month, the clothing options seem fewer and far between … but you are close to nyc with lots of choices so i am sure you will find the perfect outfit for that wonderful event … a broadway opening in which your husband is a principle … yay!

as a casual person who likes to wear skirts, t-shirts, flats/tennies … i detest clothes-shopping.

as a renter at present, i don’t have a lawn for gardening … and that’s okay; it’s not one of my things. instead, i walk and run and feel almost free. :)

but i wish i could just go outside and clip some flowers for a vase or two. enjoy that and i am sure you will find just the thing you want to wear at opening night!

More chippy chairs! I love yours as well as mine. From where I sit at the table/desk at the shack, I spy several different styles and colors of bentwood chairs, all found and painted at different times and places, by me. Most are chipped—well, maybe all of them! A couple aren’t even painted yet, though I will paint them eventually. And I will enjoy them as they chip and become more suited to the shack decor (?) like their shackmates.

Happy to hear you had some sunshine although I feel likes it’s a tease at times. We are having rain for a few days. Makes for a pretty spring I hope! Stella is so gorgeous. I’ve never had an appliance worth talking to, but Stella is more then worthy! Good Luck with the shopping, I hate trying to find clothes right now (yes my weight is up also). I think I’ll paint a little today!

The coloring on your chippy chair grabs my heart every time I see it. I threw open the front door myself yesterday…glass storm doors and all…but the sun was glorious. Not as warm as you…but I take all that I can get these days.

Ah…dress shopping. Say no more…I feel your pain. I just don’t dress up anymore. Most occasions in my life call for jeans…and at most, a fancy top. The odd wedding….that’s where I get hung up. So…I wish you well on your search! ;)

Love the chippy chair; it is just perfect the way it is. Stella is beautiful as always. I am looking forward to being able to work outside. That’s the way I get exercise. Well, I do housework, too, but I am not too enthusiastic about it. Certainly do not keep house like I once did. I love to work outside in my flowers! At least it is the last day of February. Spring, we are so ready for you. Please come quickly!

We had a beautiful day yesterday as well. Went shopping in a spring coat!! That was my spring tonic. Today is cloudy and not quite as warm. BUT, the snow we were supposed to get tomorrow is going south (!!?) of us, so some rain will be fine instead. And if March come in as a lion, we have that lamb to focus on for the end of the month.

We will be watching Today in the morning. Have a great Wednesday.

Yes, we’re getting rain tomorrow and maybe rain/snow on Friday. Rain for sure, not sure yet about the snow part of the equation.

Claudia, Enjoy the warm temps while you can! I also hate clothes shopping, especially for dress up occasions. I’m a jeans and tee girl too. Your chippy chair reminds me of two bamboo chairs my parents found on the sidewalk years ago on their daily walk . Mom rang the doorbell of the house and the owner said he was discarding them, so Dad made two trips to walk them home. Even though the chairs were in bad condition, my parents saw potential. Dad tightened the joints and sanded and applied wood putty (he was a self-taught hobby-ist wood worker). They painted both with black enamel and Mom sewed deep burgundy seat cushions. I love reading about your furniture because I love rescue pieces.

Almost every piece of furniture in this house is a rescue, save for the sofas (which are well over 20 years old), my blogging chair and our bed. The rest? Rescued.

Clothes-shopping – yuck! Since retiring anything I bought was purchased online. Clothes-wise that is. Easy to do when all you wear are tees & jeans though. And you’ve found the perfect jeans. But you need serious evening wear here. Best suggestion I ever got in that regard was “Don’t look at anything that isn’t black or navy blue…” Served me well [not that I shop for formal wear very often]. But it did help save time. And it could be worse – it COULD be swimwear. Have fun shopping [if possible]. Peace. đź’›

My idea of dressing up is buying black slacks & a white blouse….usually from J. Jill. Of course my dressing up has never included a Broadway opening unfortunately. Wishing you much luck.

I, too, have a serious case of Spring Fever. I see chives and sage in my herb garden and that gives me hope. Maybe your rain will start those green plants poking their heads up in your yard. We’ll keep our fingers crossed!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
