Taken yesterday morning. I love seeing the morning light emerge through the trees. It’s one of my favorite things about our property.

It’s been a hectic and stressful week and I’m ready to relax a bit today. That had been my plan for yesterday but we had a zoom table read of the script and I was communicating with the director and with Ben (later in the day) so I had a lot on my mind. (I loved seeing Sally Field. That was neat.)

So, today  will be a day of rest. Sort of. I have to wash the sheets and do some cleaning, but none of that has anything to do with the movie, so I consider it a day off.

We had a storm in the late afternoon/early evening yesterday and the temperature has really dropped. Though there might be a few days this week where we hit seventy, basically, we’ll be in the sixties and fifties. I’ve heard and seen Canada geese every day this past week, flying in huge Vs as they take off for the winter. Though, for some reason, some of them hang around here and we’ll often see them by the river in the winter.

And, while I was outside yesterday, I saw a surprise visitor:

I’m so glad we have zinnias in bloom for this beauty. It’s getting late in the season and there aren’t a whole lot of flowers blooming. It was getting windy as the storm was about to hit and the monarch was doing its best to cling on to the zinnias. Hope we provided the nutrients you need for your journey south!

I think it was about this time last year when we witnessed our little monarch emerge from the chrysalis. Another late-in-the season monarch.

I ordered a jigsaw puzzle to take with me to the city. I think it will be good to have one going so I can work on it in my spare moments here and there. It’s zen-like and very relaxing.

Okay. Time to get some things done around here. This week will be for making lists of things to take with me, things I have to buy (everything in the city is much more expensive) and things I have to do before I leave, including showing Don when and how much to water the plants on the porch and the houseplants as well. How to situate the blanket when making up the bed. How to empty the vacuum cleaner tank. How often to fill the birdbath. And on and on….

And good news – the strike has been averted with both sides coming to an agreement.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

you have lots going on so i am glad if you take time to rest and relax.

and will have a puzzle to enjoy if you don’t have hours to read in nyc.

and have your sweet husband who will tend the plants and everything else in and around your home while you’re away working on the film.

and that you saw a monarch in the middle of october.

you are blessed (i know you know that … i’m just saying i’m glad you have all those things).

    i am blessed, too.

    happy, safe sunday.

Beautiful sunrise through the trees and brush. The precious monarch’s appearance, so special. With all the rain this past summer, I would be surprised if any had been noticed

    Happy planning and relaxing.

DH in Santa Fe got a Covid-notification (NM has an app to track exposure). Guessing it was when he went to FedEx (double-masked) to send his signed tax pages home – can’t depend upon the Post Office with quick delivery. Yes, we were forced to file by mail this year and DH always wants to do the ‘real signature.’ Thankfully, no symptoms, but he was told to quarantine for 14 days from date of exposure.

No question, I understood you. Your remarks are always taken the most sincerely. XO

It’s a bit ironic for DHthat he was ‘exposed.’ He moved to Santa Fe because of his fears of the prevalence in California. Then the Texans invaded Santa Fe – he knew then it might not be so easy there.

Oh no! What a drag. Fearful of that with the movie. If I was exposed to someone, that’s two weeks work lost! But I’m really careful as your husband is – if he was double masked, it would seem there’s no real threat – hopefully!

      Thanks, Martha.

Yes, and, hate to admit behind his back, DH can appear to be a bit of a hypochondriac. Hoping he stays calm and carries on without interruption.
Just had a conversation with CT daughter who was talking about how she missed weekends in NYC. I miss visiting her.

Your adventure is such an opportunity. Hoping you find safe bubbles to live and work in.
I will join with others keeping the faith, saying prayers to keep you safe, Claudia.

I’m nervous about the whole thing, but, at the same time, I’m excited.

          Thanks, Martha.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
