An early morning shot of the office, where I seem to be spending most of my time lately. Between the blog and my research for the play, I’m seem to be ensconced in that chair. Too much to do in too little time. But I bet everyone is saying that during this holiday season – I’m just adding a move to Hartford into the equation.
I looked at my contract yesterday and it looks like I assumed I was off on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day…but I’m not. For some reason, we’re working on those days. They do happen to fall on normal rehearsal days – Saturday and Sunday. I was sort of counting on going home for the New Year. To be honest, it’s not like Don and I really do anything on New Year’s Eve; we’re usually in bed by 10! But I’d like to bring in the New Year with my husband. So we have to rethink that. Don may have to come to Hartford! Looks like the tree here in the cottage will be up longer than we thought – I’m the only one who knows where everything goes!
Today, because I’m running behind: Act 5. Then I’ll be done with my initial work on the text.
We’re due for 3 – 5 inches of snow this evening and overnight and Don has to get into the city tomorrow for an audition. The weather also looks dicey on the day before I leave for Hartford – with 8 inches expected here – along with ice – in the Hudson Valley. So I’m going to have to keep an eye on the forecast and maybe leave a day early if I have to. Winter, you can be a pain in the tush. Already.

Do not like ice. Don just had a friend come over and help him with our snowblower as it wasn’t starting. It’s okay now. Yikes!
Bokeh just brings a magical view of Christmas…world of elves and fairies! Love the little bottlebrush tree and pearly ornaments. And that antique lamp! So pretty! Keep warm in your Winter Wonderland.

I’m required to do a lot of overtime these next two weeks in preparation for the year end at work – thank goodness I can walk to work with the roads in this state. Fingers crossed for clear roads to and from Hartford. If Don can visit you there for New Year’s, perhaps you could think of it as a mini holiday together.

Our first snowfall last week melted…so we never got to shovel or snow blow at all. I don’t think we’ll be that lucky this time! Hopefully, you can make it to Hartford on dry roads! We’re supposed to get 8 inches with ice the night before I have to leave for Hartford – next Saturday – so I might have to leave a day earlier.
I think that tree is vintage….I found it at an antique shop a few years back. Just not sure how old it is!
It looks vintage….they don’t seem to make things like that any more. 8″ with ice is horrible…leaving early seems like the smart idea! ;)

I wouldn’t have to pay, I’d be doing them a favor by making sure I’m safely there for the first day of rehearsal!

Sorry to hear you won’t get home for New Year’s. I agree Don needs to visit you! Your bokeh photos are pretty! We are cold here and getting rain tomorrow. I don’t like the ice but winter is here. Hugs!
It’s just started to snow a little – I cleared off the cushions on the porch, put some things away, cleaned the downstairs, and Don got the salt and the shovels out of the shed.
You KNOW how I feel about the “s” word…. but ICE is in a category all by itself. Not only is driving in it horrific, but trying to walk on it and worrying about falling just makes this time of year such a joy….. ugh. How I wish Christmas fell in the summer. I have not one iota of a need for snow to enjoy the holidays. I will say an extra wish & prayer that your and Don’s travels this week are worry-free.
So glad that he will be able to join you for NYE. Will be like a mini get-away!! And so glad you don’t have a real tree this year to worry about. I can’t imagine my husband trying to take Christmas down on his own, He could, of course, do it. However, I am sure I would not ever find most things again in my lifetime.
My daughter and I baked together all day yesterday (as the snow fell). I still have 2 batches of dough in the fridge that we didn’t finish as I wanted her to get back to Madison before the roads got too bad. I hope you have a super Sunday and get much on your lists completed!!
I got stuff done in preparation for the snow, and I cleaned the downstairs looking for an earring that has disappeared. That’s another story. I agree, I no longer have a need for a white Christmas, especially when I have to travel back and forth to Hartford. I never got around to the final act because I did so much work outside and downstairs. Tomorrow.
Ugh, snow and ice…. I never have to worry about snow and there is only the occasional black ice, but the fog can get bad and reduce visibility. I hope the drive to/from Hartford is uneventful for both you, and Don. Fingers crossed he’ll be able to join you for a few days. I forgot how long you have this gig? Having Don visit will help break it up a bit and it’s always nice to come home to a loved one after a hard day’s work, no matter how much you love it. I had to look bokeh up in the dictionary. I love learning a new word that evokes such beauty!
I’m there until January 21st. Now we just have to hope that this isn’t one of those winters where it snows all the time or I won’t be able to get home very much!
YUCK. Winter would really be such a nice time if it weren’t for the snow and ice. I could easily handle hibernating inside, warm and cozy on dark winter days. Time for indoor projects, reading, cooking. Maybe even some extra sleep. I’d happily accept 4 solid months of freezing temperatures – ZERO even – or 4 months of dreary daily rain. IF — it meant NO snow or ice. Nothing that required plows, shovels, scrapers or rock salt. Only good things about it – the snow usually replenishes the water table. And makes me appreciate being able to walk outside, get into my car, insert a key and drive off without 30 min of prep work first. Enjoy your Sunday! 🎄
NO snow and ice would be perfect. I don’t need to hassle with it this year when I’m driving back and forth from Hartford. Well, of course, it won’t be all the time, but it’s a worry that I never used to have when the Shakespeare was done in Fall instead of the Winter.
