I took it easy yesterday as the extreme change in the weather left me feeling not-so-good. Today, as I knew it would be, is better. It’s also quite cool out there this morning. I’m going to do some work outside today – there is much to be done.
So I’m going to keep this brief – just a few views of the property.
The transformation of my nemesis, prickly brambles, into wild roses. This is on the edge of the woods. There are mounds of pretty little roses everywhere and since they climb, they’re also up high in the trees.
My yarrow has started to bloom. The gift that keeps on giving – it has self-seeded in surprising places. I love that.
An early morning view of the secret garden.
Have a lovely day.
Stay safe.
Happy Sunday.

glad that the weather is a bit more cooperative and pleasant, especially if there is yardwork to do or you want to sit outside. also glad for you to have so many nice areas to sit and such beautiful views.
by 8:00 this morning, it was already over 80 degrees (bleh) so will take a walk soon and plan to get up earlier for future walks. for now, though, i am in a comfortable room (spent the night with members of my family) and can see a big swamp oak just beyond the wall of windows, making the view all green. there is a breeze that makes the leaves look like a churning green ocean … beautiful. :)
happy sunday, everyone! stay safe.

I hate it when it gets hot that early in the day!

Your secret garden is a lovely, quiet retreat from everythingβ¦and beautiful as well. Just so charming!
We have slightly cooler temps here, too, today. Finally. Which is very fortuitous for us, since today was designated mulch day, a few weeks ago. My sons and their significant others, are coming later to help spread 50 bags of mulch so everything looks nice for the wedding.
Hope you have a good gardening day as well! ;)

The wedding! When is it, Donnamae?

It’s lovely, Claudia. Today is quite cool here, too. My wren is hanging close to her nest so I’m guessing there are still eggs in there — if they were in the first place. I love that song!
Claudia says
Oh, so do I!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Your woods and gardens look so beautiful and peaceful. I’m a wild flower fan and have learned so much from you featuring them here. It’s been a week since Dean left for Thailand and is now in Singapore. He’ll be back Thursday for one day then leave for Toronto and DC for another week and a half. That means I’ve assumed all outdoor duties. It was cooler today with hardly any humidity so for a change the morning watering was pleasant and led to much general weeding all over the property.
We have a humongous Linden tree in the front yard. Now that all the leaves are out along with the seed pods, I noticed the walkers ducking their heads as they pass the house. So I tried to imagine I was six foot as I walked down the sidewalk pruning the lower hanging branches in the natural archway they form. People have commented how much they appreciate it on hot days when they come to this shady stretch of sidewalk. And I love the privacy the lower branches on all sides of the tree give us. I was quite proud of myself when I was finished and looked down the long walkway. It’s the simple things…
Take care,
K.
