Sunlight and roses. That only lasted a few minutes while the sun was fully rising this morning.
Don is going to the farmer’s market this morning to take photos. It’s the first time he’s been there in quite a while. He thinks he can handle it since he had that cortisone shot. If it becomes painful, I’ve made him promise to leave early.
I have a lot of laundry to do today. Exciting, right?
I was going to attempt to make a dress for my girls yesterday, but my skills need a great deal of improvement. It’s quite difficult to sew on such a small scale. Plus, my sewing machine is not working right, so that was frustrating. I haven’t tried the Featherweight because I know the tension needs adjusting and the last time I tried to do that, it didn’t work. A very frustrating morning. Plus, I tried to replace some eye chips on one of the girls and I couldn’t get the original chips to come out.
The only thing that did work was an adjustment on Lucy. She has a neck joint that I’ve never liked. It worked for some positions, but every time her head moved backward, it became very wobbly. So I thought I’d take her head apart again and see if I could fix it. Nope. Just as bad. Then I remembered that I had an extra neck joint on hand, so I unscrewed the ball joint from her neck and replaced it with the new one and Lucy is a very happy camper.
So, the score is one success, two sort-of-fails. I’ll try again on the sewing and the eye chips, but maybe not for a while.
BUT, I do have a new puzzle to start today, so that’s exciting.
Stay safe.
Happy Sunday.

I love that puzzles are so zen for you. I’m reading and working on a handmade journal. I’ve had the best week with my daughter here from Vancouver. She leaves tomorrow so one more big family gathering today. I try not to be sad but I always cry when she has to leave.

How wonderful! I’m so glad you had the chance to spend time with your daughter, Linda!

you tried and will try again and succeed … that’s not failure in my book!
hope it goes well in every way for don at the farmers market and that you have a good day, too. laundry isn’t fun for me (i’d feel that way even if i did have my own washer and dryer), but it sure feels good to have clean things!
just like your gutters. glad that is over for you and don.
those roses from your sweetheart are looking lovely!
busier day here today for a sunday… celebration of life service for a nice man who passed on too young, then grocery shopping, then prepping my place for landlord to take out the (window-style) air conditioner tomorrow. first will go for a chilly walk with members of my family, then we will watch church online and have lunch.
hope everyone has a nice easy day today. stay safe!

I hope it goes well for Don today!
Laundry is probably not exciting, but I do think of laundry like I think of weeding. It’s therapeutic, and everything looks so nice and fresh after that is done.
We’re having a family brunch today…always fun to see my kids…well…,two thirds of them at least.
Enjoy your day! ;)

His camera isn’t working right. Darn it! He’s there, but he can’t take any pictures. We’ve had a tough couple of days. On top of that, his eye doctor has covid, so his appointment was canceled and he is having trouble seeing, so he needs a shot.
Stay safe.

Well…that’s not the news of Don’s day that I was hoping to hear!! There’s been a lot of bad luck going around lately for a lot of people….hope it breaks soon for ALL!! ;)

Doll clothes are quite difficult, and I say that as a quilt maker and full sized people sewist. All those tiny seams and curves…. Maybe start with something like an apron sewed onto a ribbon sash? Or a felt pinafore made all one piece? Do you have a pattern you are using? Some are more appropriate than others for a first doll clothes project!

I am also a quilt maker. I started with a pattern that is meant for beginners, drafted by one of my favorite people. She makes beautiful clothes for Blythes.

Deb in Phoenix says
Well, we are back in Phoenix after the funeral in San Diego. I have never been so happy to get home. It was overcast the whole time we were there. The service at the Veteran Cemetery was very nice. My in-laws will be buried together. My mother-in-laws birthday was the day they were buried together. She would have been 96. We also got to see 2 of my nephews that we have not seen for a long time. That was wonderful. While we were there my sister let us come to their house for a get together. That was nice too until the next morning she called me and said her husband tested positive for Covid…oh know!! He just went through some major heart surgery not long ago, so he is a high risk patient. With that we decided to leave SD a day early…..big mistake!! We have never driven through such fog and heavy rain EVER! There were rollovers and accidents all the way back to Phoenix. Finally we are home safe and sound. So today is rest, get some laundry done and look at the pile of mementoes we have from my in-laws. They saved everything! Oh well, may they RIP.
Claudia says
My goodness! What was already a stressful situation became even more stressful! I hope your brother-in-law weathers covid and that you and your husband stay well. Glad you’re home safely!
Stay safe, Deb.
Elaine in Toronto says
Oh, dear, sorry to hear of Don’s troubles at the market. It’s a good time of year for picture taking as they make excellent Christmas gifts to loved ones. Business will pick up soon and Don will be ready. Hopefully next week will be better.
I hear you about the tinyness of Blythe doll clothes. I’d love to sew some, too, but I’m thinking I might be better at knitting although the sweaters are pretty tiny, too. Jesse wants to show you her new coat and boots. I’ll send you an email. Hope you and Don have a good week. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
The market only runs a couple more weeks, unfortunately.
Thanks, Elaine.
