Thank you, dear friends, for all the birthday greetings! I seem to spend a big chunk of time on my birthday responding to birthday wishes on social media! Between this blog and instagram and facebook, my cup runneth over. Friends from elementary school, from high school, college, grad school, community theater, various places of employment, theater, theater, theater – the list goes on! I’ve met and worked with a LOT of people over the years – one of the joys of the kind of work I do. To hear from so many people is a blessing that wouldn’t occur without social media. So, even though I curse it occasionally, on my birthday it is simply marvelous.
Yesterday was a simple, easy day. Thanks to Don, it was just what I wanted. I’m not one for a party these days. I am not comfortable being the focus of attention. Besides, our friends and family are truly scattered all over the country. Don made a wonderful birthday dinner. I’d asked for a beginning set of watercolors and some brushes and he delivered. We’ll see how that goes…
Today, I have to run a few errands, as does Don. I set up the little Christmas tree we have in the den yesterday afternoon. Next up will be the porch lights.

Here’s the puzzle I finished a few days ago. “The Romantics” – all about Byron and Shelley and Wordsworth, etc. It’s another of the puzzles from Lawrence King. The quality is top notch. I’ve started another one, but just barely.
Thank you again, my friends.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

It’s nice to think about how many lives you have touched in a positive way, Claudia! Hooray for you!
Thank you, Ellen!

Sounds like you had a perfect birthday for you….and that’s as it should be. It will be interesting to see how the watercolor painting goes for you.
We decided that because we are expecting Sunday to be in the 50’s, we will be putting our outdoor lights and decorations up then. They won’t be turned on til the day after Thanksgiving…but it will be frigid by then. And it’s absolutely no fun decorating when it’s frigid. And it’s been so gloomy, that the Flameless candles go on today. Enough…I need twinkles.
Hope you enjoy your day! ;)
I might set up our outdoor lights today, as it’s a bit warmer than it’s been.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
sounds like you had a wonderful birthday spent with your sweet don. i’m glad for you both!
hope the errands are done soon so you can put up more decorations … and have fun with your new paints! i am definitely a novice and will probably always be a novice at them, but am okay with that … i just love watercolors and watching them do their thing. :)
the puzzle is beautiful! i’m slowly looking into other types of looms … and hoping that online searches will be enough about weaving for me right now. it’s not the best time for me, and i don’t need another hobby … … but last week i did order a smaller jigsaw puzzle. haha.
happy, safe weekend!

Good for you on the jigsaw puzzle, Kathy.

Hi Claudia! I am glad you got some watercolor paints to try out! They are my primary painting medium, but always with pen and ink as I am more of an “illustrator” than “painter”. I never liked the process of wet-on wet that is the hallmark of so much watercolor work. And I prefer very saturated pigment, but really love the translucence of pure watercolor paint. Have fun and experiment like crazy at first. There should be no “wrong” way to paint! :)
Thanks for the advice, Betsy.

Claudia, I’m so glad your birthday was quiet, yet abundant! Your puzzle had a lot going on, busy and fun. Enjoy your new watercolors.
Thanks so much, Barrie!

Happy birthday Claudia!! You looked great five years ago, and i’m sure that you look great today.
It sounds as though you had a really nice day.
I didn’t know what to gift a couple people this Christmas and I came upon a massive toy and game store in a small town. I went upstairs in that old building and there were thousands of puzzles! So I purchased a couple really nice puzzles, and that’ll be Christmas.
Thank you, Irene.

Sorry I am sending you belated birthday wishes. I was not on Social Media the last couple days. It sounds like it was a good day and Don made it special. Best wishes to you!
Thanks so much, Deb!

I’m so glad you had a wonderful, relaxing birthday. And that you are joining the watercolor world, my passion! The puzzle is gorgeous. I’ve got to get back to puzzling, but probably after Christmas! Happy rest of the weekend!
Thank you, Jeanie!
