The Eagles Have Landed

May 1, 2024 at 7:20 am by Claudia

Yesterday, we were out on the porch doing a few chores – really, timing is everything – and I heard a screechy bird call. It reminded me of the sound from the bald eagle we saw last year. I stopped everything and searched the neighboring trees and, sure enough, there was a bald eagle on top of a very tall fir tree on my neighbor’s property. He was quite vocal! We watched him for a long time. Eventually. Don crossed the street to look more closely and he returned with the news that there were two  eagles up there!

Well, I had to fetch my big girl camera.

I cropped the heck out of this, so you could see them.

Magnificent!

We have a river right across the street, so that’s why we see them. If we hadn’t been outside at precisely the right time, we wouldn’t have known they were there. So grateful.

Don is filming today. He’ll be working on a set in Brooklyn, so he took off early this morning.

I’ll be potting a few more flowers today.

Pru is dressed up and ready to party.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

You are right…it’s all about timing, as are many things that occur in our lives. Still a terrific pic. Thanks for getting out your big girl camera.

We visited two nurseries yesterday. I had a gift certificate, so I thought maybe I could get some perennials. And I did. I’m excited to plant them today, but will need to make more nursery trips to get annuals for my containers.

I’m sure Don is excited to be working again….I really hope this is a new beginning for him. Enjoy your day…and planting! ;)

what incredible creatures!!! so glad you and don were in the right place at the right time and could see them. thanks for going back inside for the camera to take such a detailed photo for us.

too fancy for me, but i still love the fabric on little pru’s dress.

and i’m so pleased for don to have more work. i hope this job has a big ripple effect for him and for you, the start of something (else) great for the two of you.

there are eagles occasionally seen in the metro area, usually by a pretty little lake on the edge of downtown, also along the mississippi riverbanks. here, at my parents’ deck, we see lots of blue jays, cardinals, doves, three kinds of woodpeckers and starlings. also lately a couple of huge crows. earl and pearl, merle, too. deer. and more recently red-winged blackbirds have returned, also robins on deck. finches, chickadees, and the occasional canadian geese and (once) two mallard ducks. and pretty birds with a funny name … brown-headed cowbirds. they’re all beautiful in their own ways and we love watching them.

hope your hand is feeling better and that you and don have a great, easy day. same for everyone else here and around the world. stay safe in every way.

      Thanks, Kathy.

I love Eagles. I watch a pair in Big Bear Calif and they are amazing. Fun to have them local. Enjoy your day potting plants. I’m still unpacking and sorting…will it never end???

Just magnificent to see the eagles! It’s been in the sixties today so I managed to clean all my patio pots of the weird moss- like stain and planted out some alpines.

    Happy Wednesday

Wow, you don’t see that every day and how lucky you were to have seen them! I’ve only seen eagles in the wild once on a drive in western Wisconsin along the Mississippi. You really don’t realize how big they are until you see them in person.

    Take care,
    Kay

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
