The End of the Tour

April 5, 2023 at 9:21 am by Claudia

Okay. This is the last egg cup post. I haven’t included every cup on this tour, but that’s only because a few of them are very basic and not really worth noting.

Three of my larger double egg cups:

• On the left, a Hankscraft egg cup, made by Redwing Pottery in Wisconsin. Vintage. This is solid and heavy and I love the vertical lines that evoke a bit of Art Deco to me. Made in the 1940s.

• This cup was a local find. It’s made of glass and has distinctive orange markings. I have no idea who made it, it could any one of a number of glass companies. I fell in love with that milk glass/orange combination.

• I’m not sure of the maker on this one, either, though I suspect it’s Johnson Bros. It’s a lovely transferware pattern and I had to have it.

Three new egg cups:

I bought all three of these on our trip to Paris and London.

• An egg cup designed by Emma Bridgewater, bought in her shop in Marylebone/London. I’m a big fan of Emma Bridgewater and have several of her pieces. Had to have this one!

• Of course, we visited Abbey Road on that trip, as well as Abbey Road Studios. I discovered this pair in the gift shop. IMMEDIATELY bought them! I mean, they couldn’t be more charming or more perfect for two Beatles loving people. That’s not a crack on the base. It’s some wax, which I use to secure the cups in the cubby. Same stuff I use for my miniatures.

And there you have it.

I’m not actively searching for any more cups, but if I run across one that I can’t resist, I’ll add it to the collection.  I haven’t added one for a while.

Experimenting with the right colors for Ella:

By the way, she has two little teeth. Impossible for you to see, but I can!

I am going to have to go into the city tomorrow, though I still feel sick. But the remaining time in the rehearsal studio is waning, so I have to be there. I’ll have to go in on Friday or Saturday, as well.

The thought of this is exhausting, of course. Sigh.

So I won’t post tomorrow.

So happy when I see a lifelong criminal arrested.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

oh, was hoping you’d have woken up this morning feeling noticeably better and, if not, that you could stay home a few more days before heading back to work. sorry.

i hope you keep taking it easy and can let chores, etc. go until absolutely necessary while you heal. same with posting here and same wishes and prayers for don, too.

thanks very much for the egg cups tour … fun to see collections and hear the stories behind them. glad you have them and the perfect cupboard to display most of them.

don’t know how much rain we got last night, but it rained for a couple hours (loved it). had thunder, lightning and marble-sized hail, too. the worst of it (baseball-sized hail) was east and a bit north of us. hope everyone and everything is okay.

will be relieved to get my taxes done tomorrow. first time ever using a professional tax person’s help. i made a $138.00 mistake last year that meant i didn’t get my federal refund until last month (which is why my taxes are getting done so late this year) … sure don’t want that to be repeated! also will be more complicated with employment, unemployment, starting on social security and a pension. will be good to have them done!

hope everyone has a nice, easy day. be well and stay safe!

    kathy

ps … ella wears green well.

criminals should wear orange (sorry to the color orange).

This show only rehearses for 2 1/2 weeks. We’re already halfway through the second week. I have to go back.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Wait, is Ella new? I bet she would look great in rust or olive as well as this more blue-green?

Love the egg cups….thanks for showing them, it’s been so fun!

Sorry you’re still not feeling well. I have several family members who also have been sick with flu symptoms…and it’s lasted for a while. Hope you feel better soon!

A week for me so far. I imagine it will hang on for several more days, maybe not as intense, but still there.

      Stay safe, Barrie.

Yay for the arrest—too bad he didn’t have to wear the orange jumpsuit that would have blended so well with his coloring and would have made him almost disappear…something a lot of us have been wanting for nearly a decade!

Thanks for the Egg Cup Tour. So many and so varied. That milkglass one with the stripes may not be Pyrex, but it would be perfect with my vintage pyrex collection…just sayin’.

    Healing thoughts and virtual hugs.

Would have even been better with handcuffs and ankle chains. And a shaved head (ala Murdaugh on his way to permanent incarceration).

Thanks for taking the time to do the egg-cup tour; I enjoyed it so much. A nice Easter gift to your readership.

Hoping each day finds you in better health, Claudia! Maybe you can have a restful, healing, lovely spring weekend; I hope so.

Green just might be Ella’s colour. I wish we could see her little teeth. I love the milk glass egg cup with the orange strips. So fresh and pretty. It’s rained here all day with thunder and lightening. Strange weather for April. But it was the perfect day to make Don’s appe pie. It’s the third time and it only gets more delicious each time I make one. So thanks again, Don, for sharing your recipe. Wish I could drop off a couple of slices. Safe travels tomorrow. Hope it`s not too harrowing a day for you. Hugs, Elaine

I’ll try to get a closeup of the teeth sometime.

We definitely need some pie, but Don sure isn’t feeling up to it at the moment.

      Stay safe.

Ella is a beauty in green. I happen to love curly hair-good thing since my hair is curly! Love the Art Deco cup and the Beatles~ so cute.
I am so sorry have not recovered. Hopefully, there will be hot tea and honey available near the theater.
Very glad the court is giving Mr. Orange a hard time. Such an awful man.

    Hi Claudia,
Just wanted to let you know that Red Wing Pottery is in Minnesota, not Wisconsin. The town is also called Red Wing. I’ve enjoyed your egg cup tour—thanks for sharing. I love the cabinet you keep them in, too!

Yes, thank you Robin. I know it’s in Minnesota, but this particular pattern is apparently made in Wisconsin – in some offshoot facility, I guess.

      Stay safe.

Rest and rest some more…..drink water…..tea…..and EVENTUALLY this “cold” will improve. I actually slept for 6 hours….(without coughing). Love the egg cups….but Ella stole the show. Love that crazy hair.

Wishing you and Don a relaxing and healing day.

I’m sorry you’re still not feeling well, what a long slog, especially with the work going on. Ask for the effort of getting out your cups and giving us a tour. They’re so whimsical, and I really wish that I would boil an egg and use An egg cup every morning. Very cheerful on the tables toast triangles and a little spoon. Your new girl is adorable! Hope you feel better soon

I love the art-deco beige cup. Over all the years you have shared them, I don’t recall seeing that one.

Hope your working won’t wear you out, but feeling sick surely doesn’t help, does it? Hope you and Don are both feeling better soon. There is a lot of crud going around. We are supposed to be in the 70’s next week, and opening all the windows and letting fresh air into the house sounds fabulous.

Safe travels for you and take care.

This crud has been plaguing Don for over two weeks! He’s so frustrated. Mine has been a week and a half and I’m so tired. No energy.

      Stay safe, Chris.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
