The Ongoing Planning That Goes On In My Head

4-27 books3

The sun has finally come out this morning after a day of rain yesterday. I can still smell smoke from the wildfire. I hope the rain helped to bring it under control and that what I’m smelling is just the residual smoke that will be hanging around for a while.

I sat at my desk yesterday, staring at the TSP, and got absolutely nothing done. I did come up with an idea for a desk, so it wasn’t entirely a bust, and I decided to hold off on the final paint color for the deck/porch until I add some stonework at the base of the building. See? Even though nothing seems to be accomplished, I realized later that I did  in fact accomplish something, even if it’s simply sorting things out in my brain. Planning.

I finished the first book in the Harry Hole series, The Bat, by Jo Nesbø, which was excellent. Uh oh. I’m hooked on another series. Next up is Cockroaches. So I just might be taking a little drive to the bookstore today because once I’m hooked, I’m hooked. I have to get a dowel from Michael’s (which is right next door) and maybe some raisin bread from Target…

I just started That Darkness by Lisa Black – which is in the form of an eGalley from NetGalley. It was officially published yesterday, so I’ll write a review when I finish it. So far, so good. I’m thoroughly engaged.

What else? I’m trying to juggle the demands of Anastasia’s  schedule with a couple of other small projects. Since I don’t know when they’ll want me to come into Anastasia  next (this is all very complicated) and rehearsals in the rehearsal room will be winding down next week, I’m assuming I’ll be going to Hartford to watch a run-through on the weekend or early next week. But I have to wait for them to ask for me as I am contracted for only a certain amount of days. In the meantime, I have to go into the city sometime this week or next to consult on another project (about Martin Luther) so I think I’m going to try to get there tomorrow. And then I have to decide whether I want to take two days to go down to Washington D.C. to watch a performance of the other project (about C.S. Lewis) that I’ve been consulting on. That would be toward the end of next week.

This is the kind of stuff that is going on in my head most of the time, along with all the work I have to coordinate on the TSP. Planning – if only in my head.

Back to Jo Nesbø. If you like police procedurals, I think you’ll like this series. Extremely well-written and engrossing. I sat in my little old chair and read for several hours yesterday – completely into it – and had to shush my husband several times as I headed toward the end of the novel.

Happy Wednesday.

    Good Morning, Claudia,
If you’re in the DC area, maybe we can meet for a cup of coffee and pet Miss Bella! I’m about an hour away…If it’s possible….

It wouldn’t be possible, unfortunately, Patricia. I would be in and out of the city pretty quickly.

I have days where I feel like I get nothing done, but often times I do make some decisions so that is a plus for me. Today is a busy day. A little more cleaning this morning, then meeting two people for pick up of some items I sold and then taking Mom to the dentist (she gets her new dentures today). Tomorrow my house guest will arrive! Looking forward to the weekend.
    hugs,
    Linda

Sounds like a busy few days/weeks ahead…and they do require planning. I find starring out at my bird feeders from the kitchen table, let’s my mind wander…and I figure things out with better clarity. Although currently, I don’t have much to ponder, which can also be good! Enjoy your day! ;)

Yes, sometimes when I get in what I call a Zen state (which is really sort of mindless mind wandering) solutions come to mind. Have a good day Donnamae!

LOL – a perennial truth for sure. The need to shush one’s husband is ALWAYS indicative of a darn good story, and a riveted reader. I LOVE stories like those. Enjoy the rest of that one yourself… ?

Whenever the planning in my head gets too crazy, I take a shower and I usually come to decisions/solutions by the time I’m done. I think the white noise helps.

It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on and sometimes days of planning for it all is just what is needed. Our son is home from Japan for three weeks for a surgery he just had yesterday on his foot. He is now bed bound for a week with only bathroom privileges.
I had an MRI of my brain this morning. What an ordeal. Because of my pacemaker, I had an entourage of cardiologist, cardiac nurse, two “regular nurses and the radiologist and tech. Wires everywhere while they turned my pm off. I felt like “@%&%” the entire time my pm was off. So glad it’s done and I’m home. After some knitting therapy and rest I’m planning to work in the garden a little today. I have rhubarb ready to harvest already!
    Blessings always Claudia,
    Betsy

Oh Betsy, what a day you’ve had! I hope all is well and that you’ve treated yourself to some knitting therapy. Thinking of you, Betsy. Prayers are being sent your way.

Happy Wednesday to you! I have been deep cleaning the bedroom and I am exhausted. Where does all the stuff come from! I haven’t hit the closet yet but I will save that for another time. Now it is my time to read and relax.?

Having trouble seeing the screen so will be brief. Your work sounds exciting. Very challenging, too. I hope you can fit it all in and not wear yourself out. That’s the mother hen in me. :-)

    Praying fires are history.

I’ll be fine. It’s not a whole lot of work, just trying to schedule it.

Pondering is always a very good thing. It is when I skip that step that I usually have issues with a project. One would think I would learn!!
And reading is always a good thing. I had 3 books come in from my hold list at the library this week. Crazy. Thankfully only one of them is a 2 week book and the others are 4.
Our weather has turned much cooler, but we still haven’t had any rain. Hopefully tonight there is some on the way.
I hope that you are having a wonderful Wednesday!!

The worst scenario is when 3 or 4 books come in and they’re all 2 week books! Been there. I never win!

Why do you think the title of my book blog is “Just Let Me Finish This Page…?” I’ve done that since I was little kid! xo

I finished the Netflix series called River that you recommended. It was very good, although sad. Sure reinforces the impermanence of life, As if either of us needed that. Thanks for the recommendation.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
