The Pack

A certain someone is ensconced in that yellow chair as I write this.

A dog, who is usually in my tunnel, is sleeping next to him.

It’s a sunny and beautiful day and the Mockingbird Hill Cottage pack is back together again.

I drove to New Haven and landed at the theater in time to meet Don at the stage door as the closing performance ended. I chatted with the cast (such lovely people) and then joined them all onstage for a final toast with the Artistic Director, who also directed Our Town.

Then we loaded up the car and drove home (with a stop at Trader Joe’s, of course.)

Scout was thrilled to see her dad. It took her a moment or two to realize it was him, but then…oh, such a happy girl!

Since we had grabbed a late lunch on the way home, I scrambled some eggs and Don made some toast and that was dinner.

We were saving room for a decadent chocolate cake we bought at Trader Joe’s. We had to celebrate, don’t you think? It was so incredibly good that I’m still thinking about it.

Meanwhile, Don was suitably awed by the new television and we watched a great documentary on Netflix, 20 Feet from Stardom. It’s about backup singers and it won the Oscar last year.

I recommend it highly. Very moving. Beautifully done.

Happy Saturday.

Isn’t that a fascinating film? I was fortunate to see Lisa Fischer perform live with The Rolling Stones some years ago. Quite astonishing.
It sounds as though you have a perfect weekend in the making – enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Oh, the book is A Confederacy of Dunces – one of my favorites. Don was reading it.

So glad your pack is complete again. It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? The world spins in the right direction once more. Celebrate with a thick slab of that chocolate cake and a big cold glass of milk for lunch! Of course, you might need a sugar nap in the afternoon, but that’s OK too. And have a great weekend. :>)

Oh, we loved ’20 feet….’ The same rainy day we watched the Muscle Shoals docu. You may have seen it because of Don’s musical background. It was fascinating also, this tiny town had such an impact on pop music! We loved this, too. I love docu’s like these, so entertaining and educational. Glad you are all together again. Are you all in place for the winter? Snuggle, movie, book, relaxing times! We are in Fl. doing the same things, only add morning pool time to the routine.

Good to know about Muscle Shoals – it was on the recommended list last night, so we’ll watch it tonight. We are, so far, in one place for the winter…but if a job comes up, that might change. Have fun in FL!

Cake sounds like just what was needed after the long time apart.
I will have to check out that documentary. Sounds interesting.

Thanks for the reminder about 20 Feet. I just got done watching it, and it was excellent. Many of those girls have been a big part of my life for over 50 years, and it was fascinating to hear their stories. And the music! Oh, the music!

So happy the pack is back together. It is such a good feeling.
Don’t you just love TJ’s?? Just made a run the other day. Always so much fun and coming home w/ all those goodies is the best! Have you ever tried their ginger snaps in the round container? Best cookies ever! We are making a package of their pumpkin scones for breakfast tomorrow.
Bet Don was amazed by the picture on the new TV. Glad you are now enjoying it together.

Glad the pack is all together again. 20 Feet from Stardom is on my watch list. I remember seeing a preview of it and have a feeling one of the finalists from a couple of “The Voice” seasons ago is in it too. She has an amazing voice.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
