Thanks for all your supportive comments about the new sofa! The cushions need to be broken in and that will take a while. I’d rather have to break them in than have something with not enough support from the get go. We sit up much higher than on the old sofa – much better for our backs and knees. We don’t have to try and haul ourselves up from the sofa.
It’s really beautiful and we’re thrilled with it. The color is exactly what I wanted, but we saw so many slightly different variations of it on the computer screen that we weren’t sure just what we’d get. I thought it might be a bit brighter, which I would have been fine with, but secretly, this is the color I wanted. This soft spring green; almost the exact shade of the base of the lamp that sits on the table, the same as the softer green found in McCoy Pottery, and the same as the green found on the glass lamp shade on the floor lamp. It is perfect.
It was a spectacular day yesterday – sunny, low seventies, a gentle breeze. We sat out on the porch a lot. Bird song, bunnies, green grass – except for a couple more plants to pot, everything is where I want to be and that realization brought a lot of satisfaction. All of the work is worth it, because we now get to bask in the beauty of our property for the next 3 or 4 months.
The very last lilacs – these little blooms. The scent was a strong as ever, but I think that they’ll be gone in a day or two.
Wild honeysuckle up in the back forty.
Lamium – yellow archangel – in the big garden bed. Full of yellow flowers and the bees love it.
Our bridal veil spirea.
A little bunny munching on grass right by the funky patio.
I spent much of the day cleaning yesterday. You know how it is, you bring in something new and suddenly you are vacuuming, swiffering, straightening up and dusting.
Today, I’m going to run an errand or two and then enjoy my gardens.
Happy Saturday.

Actually, I think your new sofa is the perfect backdrop for all your many varied collections. I can see why you and Don chose that color. It is perfect.
Your hard work has certainly paid off in the yard. There’s nothing like that feeling of satisfaction of a job well done. So….enjoy your gardens this fine day…you’ve certainly earned it! ;)

We’re going to enjoy them all weekend long! You, too, Donnamae.

It sure feels like a slice of heaven, Jeanie. Enjoy your weekend!

I haven’t had a chance to check in here for a couple days, but I did see and comment on the sofa on IG. It’s just beautiful. May you have many years of snuggling on it.

Thank you so much, Kay!

You’re so brave to pick a color without seeing it! It certainly was a great choice, though1

It’s exactly what I hoped it would be! Thanks so much, Cara!

I saw the picture on IG. A lovely shade of green and definitely looks like there’s a lot of cushion there. My poor love seat where I am currently sat needs some more stuffing since it currently has the shape of my butt. :) Glad to hear you are enjoying some lovely weather. Your yard is looking beautiful. Porch sitting is one of my favorite things to do.
Claudia says
That sounds like our other sofa in the den! Same thing.

I love the color of your new sofa. You have me rethinking the beige sofa I was going to buy. Enjoy.

Thank you, Kay!

Sounds like you’re feeling better inside and out! The couch is lovely, spring cleaning is always a lift, and spending time on your porch, knowing that days to come will allow time in the secret garden and other special spots around your little plot of heaven are just what you and Don deserve. I know you’re taking today off. It’s a beauty here in NW CT so I’m hoping it is so for you, not far away. I’m thinking about the dead from our previous wars and those being deployed now starting the whole cycle again. As my friend posted, “when will they ever learn?” I wish some the current singers would pick up and make some of old peace anthems new again. We could use them. XOXO

Such a gorgeous day, wasn’t it, Nora?
We need more Peter, Paul and Marys, Pete Seegers, and Bob Dylans!
