This Guy

March 17, 2018 at 8:49 am by Claudia

This guy.

He’s worked so hard for the last year. He’s having a lot of fun. He can’t wait to get back to work today (they had the day off yesterday).

We took it easy yesterday and ate a late breakfast down the street from the apartment. Then we came back to the apartment and fell asleep on the sofa. Today, I head home for a bit.

It’s been really lovely. Opening night was incredible. Watching Don get interviewed by the press was such a treat! Feeling the happiness and joy among the cast and those who saw the show that night was a delight.

I’ve never seen an audience not fall in love with this show. I’ve never seen anything less than crazy enthusiasm and applause throughout the show. It’s not a traditional musical. It’s all about happiness and peace and joy and Jimmy Buffett’s music. It’s about a lifestyle. There will be those who simply don’t get it, and that’s fine. Heck, I hardly knew anything about Jimmy Buffett before Don started this journey. But I’ve become a fan – of him and his music.

I hope it runs a long time, but who knows? I do know that it’s the perfect antidote for these poisonous times.

I’m really tired – I’ve gone through several days with not enough sleep – so I’ll make this short. Also have to get ready to head home. Sigh.

I’m so proud of my husband! He gets to bring joy to hundreds of people every day. Every day. Sometimes, twice a day! Can there be anything better than that?

Happy Saturday.

I hope you know how much fun it is to vicariously experience this journey. I’ve been telling everyone that I follow the blog of the woman married to the man who’s in ETM! Didn’t realize I knew so many Parrotheads. I hope the run is historic, because, yes, we need fun and joy in these troubled times.

I heard Jimmy on NPR talking about the show on my way to work yesterday! They played a bit of the music and just hearing Jimmy talk about life and his music, I smiled all the way from driveway to parking lot. Congratulations to you and Don! I’m definitely going to try to get tickets.

Completely delighted for both of you! And so glad everything went so well Opening Night! Here’s hoping the show runs for so long that Don gets to hand his part over to another performer because he’s just tired of doing it and has zillions of other offers to field. It could happen!! Have a safe trip home – hope all the white stuff has melted by the time you get there. Peace.

Well, all I can share to that is, once, SO many years ago, I was at a Jimmy Buffett concert and although I’d listened to his familiar/catchy music on the car radio in my teens (he got a lot of air play in the 70s), I wasn’t AS aware of him back then nor had knowledge of his parrot-head/fins fans – – but it took me about a nanosecond to join in on the fun when I saw him entertain in person when I was in my 30s and I’ve loved the guy ever since.

I’m sure you can be in winter snow and he makes you feel like you’re in Gulf Coast sunshine. Forget your troubles in Margaritaville! It’s all about the ‘happy’ when Jimmy’s in the equation. And God knows, we can all really use a good dose of ‘happy’, especially in these times. There probably couldn’t BE any better, more PERFECT timing for this musical than right now in 2017, 2018 and for as long as it goes.

(Methinks Don could be employed for a WHILE yet!)

Again, many congrats and happy you two are happy, too!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
