Trails and Evening Skies

September 28, 2015 at 9:22 am by Claudia

Don walks on our rail trail almost every day. He’s getting very disciplined about it. I, unfortunately, am not so disciplined, but I’m trying to change that.

9-28 trail walk

We live about a mile from the rail trail, which runs right through the middle of our town. At any given time, you’ll see walkers, cyclists, joggers, and riders on horseback. It’s very popular and it’s beautiful.

Yesterday afternoon, I suggested we take a walk together and it was lovely. It felt good – a reminder reminder that I always feel better and more relaxed after a nice, long walk.

On this particular stretch of the rail trail, you can see horses in paddocks, farms, and the beautiful mountain ridge that we can also see from our front yard.

Lovely.

Then there was this view, seen as I let Scout outside early in the evening.

9-28 last night's sky

I took this picture, left the camera on the table, reminding myself to go back once more and get a shot of the sunset – but I got distracted. In the blink of an eye, it was too late.

Ah, well.

I’m feeling much better, but the cough is lingering on. It’s annoying, to say the least.

Today is my dad’s 92nd birthday. When I spoke to him yesterday, I mentioned that I would be calling him again today. He said, grudgingly, that it was no big deal that he’d made it to 92. I responded that ‘making it to 92’ was cause for celebration.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Happy Monday.

92 is a very big deal! Happy birthday to your dad! I walked this morning. Still hot at 100 F but bearable. Of course, since then I’ve had a headache, probably from the heat. I’d love to have a wonderful rail trail like yours. Get out there and enjoy it while you can.

I will, Tammy. I’m determined to use it more often. When will the heat begin to lessen where you live?

Well, we are slowly cooling down. At least its 104 during the day and not 124. Makes a difference. Once we get down to the 90s during the day, then we know that Fall/Winter/Spring are finally on their way.

Happy birthday to your Dad. What an accomplishment to become 92!

The trail walk sounds lovely. I live in an area with man made lagoons, but I’m also just a handful of minutes walk from San Francisco Bay, and there is a nice Bayside trail. I should take advantage of that more often than I do.

Lagoons and walking along San Francisco Bay sound like heaven, Wendy.

92!! Certainly worthy of a celebration! And it IS, indeed, an accomplishment!
We have a diamond of a day here today in the upper 70’s, and the forecast is for sunny skies and temps in the 60’s for the remainder of the week. Lovely!
Hope you can enjoy another fine walk today.

So nice that you have such a pretty place you can walk. We have a bike path in our town, shared by walkers, but there are sections of it I unfortunately would not call safe if I was walking alone. Isn’t that too bad? I don’t like the feeling of being ‘the vulnerable woman’ and have often felt jealous that men can go and come in the world where sometimes I cannot.

Were you able to see that red moon? We couldn’t; too many clouds.

92 is quite the accomplishment! Happy Birthday to your Dad! Glad you got outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. A cold front will be coming through later…60’s after that. Still perfect as far as I’m concerned. Were you able to see the blood moon and eclipse last night? It was pretty cool…all our neighbor’s were outside last night moon gazing! ;)

Unfortunately, though we looked at the moon earlier in the evening, we completely forgot to go outside around 10:00!

Those rail trails are so nice…when my son was a kid we used to talk long walks together…we loved to walk around the lakes in the state parks a lot…I wish I could do it again but the diabetic neuropathy tells me no you can’t…I love to see those big puffy clouds…
Happy Birthday Mr Hill…I wish you many more…92 is awesome…I hope I can make it that far!

92 is pretty amazing, considering he had a couple of heart attacks when he was in his forties.

Dear Claudia’s Dad, with all due respect, reaching your 92nd birthday is a VERY big deal, and an accomplishment few people can claim. You should be as proud of yourself as I’m sure Claudia is of you. Have a WONDERFUL day! ?

Happy, happy birthday to your dad! Reaching age 92 is a huge milestone. What a blessing to have been able to see so many things/changes in his lifetime. A simple birthday phone call would not have happened 92 years ago!

92 is HUGE! I’m so glad that you are able to visit with your Dad still. I miss my parents who have been gone quite awhile now. Your walking path is lovely. How nice that it is so close to your house. I’m getting ready to take my Chloe on a walk on this lovely fall day.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
