Don: Keep Out!
It seems to be a weekend for TSP posts. What can I say? Things arrive in the mail and I get excited. Kits arrive in the mail and I finally have time to make them.
First up, the item that I couldn’t photograph yesterday morning.
It’s still a challenge, but here it is. This is from MiniMyEye on Etsy. The owner of this shop uses postage stamps as art and frames them. This is a Middle Eastern stamp with a lithograph by Frederick Remington: The Cavalry Officer. Perfect for the Top Secret Project. Don has a fondness for the westerns we used to watch on television when we were kids; Wagon Train, Bonanza, The Rifleman (my personal favorite), etc.
Cool, right?
I spent yesterday morning putting together two kits that I purchased for this project. They are from feYerwerks on Etsy. I initially clicked on the shop to look for something else (which I found) but when I got there, I saw these kits. And I had to have them. (I’m getting another one for Hummingbird Cottage.)
Yes. Don is going to get an Adirondack chair/rocker in his house before we get a life-sized one here at the cottage. (I won’t even go there.)
Isn’t this neat? These kits are laser cut from MDF. This is an exact replica of the Loll Designs modern version of the Adirondack Chair – ferYerwerks is an authorized reseller of the miniatures.
There aren’t any instructions included, which left me wondering how the heck to put this together. But when I messaged the seller, he sent me photos of the steps involved and it all made sense.
I also made the chair.
Oh my goodness. These are adorable.
I’m going to paint them, but I haven’t decided on a color yet. In the meantime, here’s where they are going to reside.
And another shot.
Interesting view inside the studio: mini chair, life-sized chair and cabinet. When worlds collide.
I am so tickled by these chairs. I really love the chance to make something from a kit. It feels a bit more like my creation, though I obviously didn’t create and design the various parts.
The kits are very well designed, by the way.
Sigh. I had such fun making these.
We took a two-mile trail walk yesterday on a gray day, where it looked like it could rain any minute, but never did.
Things are so lush and green around here.
Happy Sunday.

Those chairs are just perfect.
Claudia says
Thanks, Tammy. I think so, too!
Linda @ A La Carte says
LOVE the chairs! Lucky Don and Caroline to have them (although Don must wait for the large size before he can sit in one). They look great. My heart did a little happy dance at the cowboy (stamp) picture. I have a fondness for Cowboy shows since I watched them growing up also and they were my Dad’s favorites! Happy memories. I’m exhausted but happy that Mom is now next door. Not all of her stuff is there yet but will be by the end of the week. Now to unpack all those boxes!!
hugs,
Linda

I know – I love nothing better than watching old episodes of The Rifleman, Linda! So glad your mom is now right next door to you.
Barbara W. says
Love the chairs – they remind me of summers in Muskoka. I’m sure you will choose a ‘happy’ colour for them. We are in the midst of a long weekend with rain forecast until we go back to work, but no one is complaining. Finally some relief from the smoke!
Claudia says
I’m thinking a spring green color that I have on hand, Barbara. I’m glad to hear you’re getting some relief from the smoke, finally!
Doris says
The wall art and the chairs seem to finish it and now time to move in!
Claudia says
Almost time to move in, Doris. Just a few more things to add!

Those chairs are just too cute for words! I think they fit in perfectly! Lucky Don! ;)
Claudia says
I know. I’d like to be sitting in one of them right about now!

How clever to frame stamps for mini-art! My brothers and I watched Westerns growing up, Have Gun Will Travel, Wagon Train, Bonanza, etc., but The Rifleman was my favorite. My daughter now watches it on MeTV, and it’s her favorite too. Did you know The Rifleman has a huge fan site with every episode told in story format? …..http://www.riflemanconnors.com
Love the Adirondack chair and rocker. They come in so many colors now, you can go wild, and if you don’t like the color, it’s convenient that they can be repainted.
Claudia says
Yes, I’m familiar with that site. I love that show. I was lucky to meet Johnny Crawford several years ago. He has a band now – is quite an accomplished musician – and they were playing at an Old Globe gala, so I went up to him and introduced myself. I was a bit star struck!

LOL…what a fabulous memory! A little off-topic, but I had to share that yesterday, I applied to adopt three 1-year old kitties from the local feline rescue association. The kittens were so precious, but my daughters and I discussed the adoption and decided that the older cats are more difficult to adopt out, especially the black ones. So we asked for the two gray and white sisters, and the black foster brother from another litter. My daughter said she’s seen the sisters a few weeks ago at the weekly adoption event and fell in love with one of them. We didn’t want to adopt until my other daughter returned home from college. Fortunate for us, the sisters were still available. We’re excited!
Claudia says
I’m so happy for you, Wendy! And for your daughters. And for those lucky, lucky kitties.
Sue says
The chairs are a fabulous addition to the TSP. Can’t wait to see them painted!
You have a terific Sunday also!
Claudia says
I’m going to put a base coat on them today or tomorrow, Sue.
Patricia says
Love them! They’re so perfect for this project– I also love the artwork! It is really special and I’m sure Don is going to love all the tiny details of things that he likes. You truly know your husband. I must say… You’ve done a fantastic job of decorating for all his likes– and it does NOT look tacky! It is done very tastefully… Is what I mean.?
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Patricia! It’s been so much fun!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Just one word….. and I do NOT use it very often,,,,,, “perfect”. Those chairs are just perfect!! I can absolutely picture Don in one chair with his guitar, and you in the other either reading or doing some slow crochet project!! Yep….. perfect!!
Now to find some you could actually sit in. We just bought 2 for our front porch….. but obviously not actual Adirondacks. Is that what you want and are saving for?? I know they are expensive. Ours are just Target specials!!
We are enjoying a wonderful weekend. Planting, planting, and then we plant some more!! Rain from Tues. thru Sat. ahead of us. It will shower all the planting we’ve done, and that is a good thing.
Have a great day!
Claudia says
I’d like wooden Adirondacks – I wouldn’t mind finding a deal, but that’s what I’d like.
They keep telling us every day that we’ll have rain, and it never materializes. I think Tuesday looks more likely.
Janet in Rochester says
Well, I don’t get a vote of course, but if I did, I’d say those Adirondack chairs just have to be ORANGE! Because you almost never see them done in orange…. And it would go with the TSP… And it would make them very visible [and pretty] when used out on the lawn… And because orange is the color of creativity! I read that somewhere eons ago, so it MUST be true – haha! Enjoy this sunshiny day! ☀️
Claudia says
I like the idea of orange but that would be a major color clash with the red on the front porch. I think they’re going to be a bright spring green. At least, so far!
Vicki says
Nice to have such a scenic place to walk; nothing like that near to me.
The chairs are wonderful and the TSP is pretty much perfect!
Claudia says
We’re in the country here, tucked in between rivers and mountains. There are a lot of trees and the rail trail goes right through our little town.

Great Hunting and Gathering Claudia! :D
The cowboy print is a real treasure. I kinda reminds me of John Wayne sitting astride that galloping horse.
I remember when Cowboy shows were all the rage on t.v. and like you, I was a fan of the Rifleman ( with Chuck Connors) , and Bonanza ( Adam Cartwright was my favorite son- my mom liked Hoss) , but I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, Wagon Train (sponsored each week by 20 mule team Borax ).
I don’t know if you ever saw the movie- Westward the Women? Growing up, it was always one of me and my mom’s favorites. It starred Robert Taylor who leads a wagon train of mail order brides across the country; west to California to marry men they’d never met. It showcased the indomitable courage through the onslaught of obstacles which the women endured, in pursuit of a new life. If you like romantic westerns, it is well worth watching.
Always for me, t.v.’s Wagon Train and Robert Taylor (who later hosted the t.v. show) , go together like a horse and a saddle. :D
Also LOVE your new chairs! I think that they are not only the right shape, but fit the space on front porch – perfectly! I greatly admire the eclectic mix of styles you have. A classic rural barn structure , with a 20 and 21st Century urban vibe inside – Yippeee Yi Yo Ki Yay!
Claudia says
I think those 20 Mule Team Borax commercials were hosted by Rosemary DeCamp. (I can still hear her voice.) I have seen Westward the Women, but many, many years ago. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it so I can watch it again.
I’m glad you like what I’ve done with the TSP, Elizabeth! It’s been awfully fun!
Linda P. says
I especially loved the look of the chairs against the red siding.
Claudia says
Thanks, Linda!
Nancy Blue Moon says
The chairs are so right for the TSP deck..I also like the way the deck looks with the stones around it…
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Nancy!
