Twenty-One

July 4, 2015 at 8:57 am by Claudia

First – and foremost – it’s the 21st anniversary of the day I met Don.

Happy Anniversary, my love!

7-4 CTC

And of course, we open Our Town  this afternoon, and the party will commence afterwards at the lake. Don’t know how long I’ll be there, since I have to get it together, i.e. pack, for my departure tomorrow morning.

Last night’s preview went very well indeed. It’s a lovely production. Everyone is doing beautiful work. The audience loved it. We’re opening this afternoon instead of tonight because it’s the 4th. Have to say it’s weird opening on a matinée performance!

Some views of the lake:

7-4 dock

7-4 chautauquabelle

The Chautauqua Belle, a paddle wheel steamer.

I managed to speed walk to Chautauqua Miniatures late yesterday afternoon on the only break I had all day. It was hotter than I thought and I was exhausted afterward, but I roused myself enough to buy a few more minis.

7-4 cushions

Some cushions for the green ‘wicker’ chair that will go in the rooftop garden.

7-4 minfoliage

Mini Foliage to work some magic in the garden.

7-4 frame

A lovely little frame – made by the same company that made the miniature Roseville Pottery.

7-4 flowers

Potted hydrangeas.

7-4 dhfind tablechairs

And these. Need I say how much I love them?

Happy Anniversary to Don and me, Happy Opening to everyone in Our Town.

I, too, want that aqua se for MY patio! It’s gorgeous. I’m always amazed at how detailed minatures are. The patience it must require to make them.
Safe travels home to Don and Scout and Happy Anniversary!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Thank you so much for taking us along on your trip to Chautauqua, and especially to the miniatures store. It’s so fun seeing all the lovely cottages in an area of the country I’m (unfortunately) not likely to visit. The patio set is adorable!!

Hi Claudia, I’m just now getting a chance to get caught up with your blog. Loved hearing about Our Town (I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never read the book nor seen the play – I would love to see it!) and seeing all the beautiful houses that you’ve showcased. You found some wonderful miniatures for your dollhouse…that patio set is amazing! I would like that in real life, please. :-) Happy the-day-we-met anniversary to you and Don!

Caroline is going to love all the new things her very-creative designer has picked up for the house. Can’t wait to see where everything get placed. Here’s to a very successful run for “Our Town” too. I bet a thundery, dark afternoon would be a great time to see a matinee of this play. Very atmospheric. Safe travels home too. :>)

It was a problem with the permalink. Thankfully, a reader emailed me right away and I came back to the apartment and fixed it. Comments were working by 11 am.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
