Waiting

June 27, 2026 at 8:19 am by Claudia

An older photo of the kitchen in progress just to remind you I am still waiting for the replacement wallpaper – this seller is so SLOW! Again, a tracking number has been issued but nothing has happened since. And that was 5 days ago. I always suspect she hasn’t dropped it off at the post office yet. I’m trying to stay calm, but it occasionally drives me nuts. I can’t do anything until that arrives. I also can’t do anything until I decide on the hallway wallpaper and I can’t figure out what I want. Since I will be papering 3 floors, I don’t want a wallpaper that’s too expensive.

I can’t seem to make a decision.

But, that 3-D printed “mini Stella”  that I commissioned has been shipped to me and should arrive on Monday! I can’t wait to see it in the kitchen.

So, I’m just in waiting mode. I’ve done a lot of work outside this week, but the grass hasn’t grown enough to mow yet – it’s very dry here. I painted Don’s birthday present, which took about 4 days from start to finish. And now, I’m out of things to do!

I’m attempting to read Maggie O’Farrell’s newest book, Land. As per usual lately, my attention is scattered. But I’m going to make myself sit down and read a chunk of it today.

And vacuum.

That’s it. That’s all I’ve got for you today.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

I find it ironic that you can commission a stove that has to be designed and then fabricated, then completed and packaged and mailed and have it arrive Monday when something probably all pre-printed and flat, easy to package, ordered about the same time takes longer. I wish there was another supplier who provided the same quality or designs and actually took their obligation seriously.

I adore that photo. Just want to move into that kitchen.

Meanwhile, just finished Chita Rivera’s memoir. It’s very good.

It’s maddening. She issues a tracking number, but either the post office in Washington DC is the most inept post office in history or after she issues the tracking number, she neglects to get it to the post office in a timely manner. No one else offers such beautiful wallpaper patterns.

      Scream.

      Thanks, Jeanie.

      Stay safe.

i freely admit to not always being very patient … but i also agree with what jeanie said (very well) about the difference in sellers and their shipping patterns … some prompt, others slow as molasses … and the slow-as-molasses ones are so frustrating! hopefully your wallpaper will arrive soon, and you can also find other, faster sources.
will be fun for you to get mini-stella, too. :)
glad you have books to read in the meantime.

going to our big art festival this morning and very much looking forward to it … art to look at and maybe buy … if i can find a simple handmade bowl … no shipping delays there! :) and we’ll hear an author talk about his ten years as a guard at the metropolitan museum of art. starting tomorrow, we are facing at least a week of temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s (heat indexes around 105) … ugh. right now it’s overcast (we walked in a lovely mist) and it’s not to reach higher than 81 today is definitely the day to go!

    happy, safe weekend to everyone.

Yep, we’re getting the same weather. 99 and 101 (and this is without the heat index) on Wednesday and Thursday.

      Have a great day, Kathy.

      Stay safe.

Papering walls is frustrating enough, without all the extra drama. Scream indeed.

Our grass needs mowing every 4 days around here. My husband wanted to get it done before the heatwave descends upon us starting Monday. 90’s with high humidity…ugh.

Hope you get some reading done….might as well relax while you can. Enjoy your day! ;)

We’re getting a high of 99 and 101 on Wednesday and Thursday, plus a couple of other days in the 90s.

      Yuck.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

Waiting is so hard! I hope it comes soon. I’m doing pretty well after some medical procedures and new diagnosis’s,. I Sjogrens Syndrome which is an autoimmune disease. It explains many of my symptoms such as fatigue and joint pain. I’ll be starting a new med which I hope will help. The low iron issues seem to be resolved and for that I’m thankful. One step at a time.

Oh, I’m happy to hear they finally got a diagnosis, Linda. Praying that new medicine helps you so you can finally feel better!

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
