Walking in the City

February 21, 2018 at 8:00 am by Claudia

Just a quick post this morning as I have to get ready to leave for home and we’re leaving at 10. It’s been a lovely time here in the city, though Don has had – understandably – to be at the theater a lot of the time. But we catch time together when we can and for that we’re grateful.

After our late breakfast at the Diner, I took the subway to the Upper West Side and stopped in some bookstores, as well as The Sill (shocker: I didn’t buy any plants.) I just walked around for about 20 blocks, but after a while I headed back to the apartment. It’s all great, but it’s much more fun when I’m exploring with my husband. It also takes a while to get used to the pace of the city.

Almost too warm today, given that every business still has the heat on! But, I’m not really complaining.

Along the way:

A church under the – finally – blue sky.

The entrance to an apartment building. Love those doors.

Some window boxes that are ready for Spring.

Happy Wednesday.

i always enjoy your photos, including those of nyc. i’ve been there five or six times and (as with another fave, new orleans) love the architecture, the food, people-watching, unique shops and paces that are different from where i live. thanks for sharing, especially when you could be with don, have to pack or just want to enjoy a leisurely breakfast somewhere. have a nice trip back home. hope the ice and snow are gone.

also, yesterday they announced jimmy (does he need a last name at this point? not to me; ha) is coming to des moines in may!!!

I am so glad to see you got some sunshine and blue skies yesterday. I ran a few errands and even managed to get my hair trimmed (it had gotten so long). Of course it wore me out, but felt good to do a few things. I’m enjoying the Olympics and reading this week. Day by day, I seem to be getting a smidge more energy back.

My hair needs trimming, too. It’s way too long! So glad to hear your energy is coming back, my friend.

It is fun to walk around the city with you!! Thanks for taking us along.

I have to ask if you finished A Constellation of Vital Phenomena yet? It just came into the library for me and I just started it. Wondered what you thought.

Safe travels as you head homeward bound. Bet Stella will be happy to be useful again!

I’m still having a problem with reading. It seems I can’t commit, though I’m trying. It’s a very, very good book, though. So go for it.

Next time go over to the Meatpacking District and take a walk on the High Line. Took a tour of the NYC Library one time and found it very interesting. The Neue Art Gallery and the Frick Art Museum are my favorites. All the museums have days and times that have reduced fees. Have fun! Loved your photos. My daughter lives there and I’m a frequent visitor of NYC. Enjoyed seeing the sunshine for it snowed and was freezing where I am today.

I love the High Line but I’m going to wait on that until Spring. Much prettier then!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
