Still under the weather with, I think, the flu or some sort of virus. I’ve had a slight temperature off and on, congestion, coughing, blah, blah, blah. Last night, I went to bed at 9:00 and slept until 8:00 this morning. Eleven hours! That never happens unless I’m really sick.
The good news: I was supposed to go into NYC for rehearsal today. But, as I looked at the rehearsal schedule when it arrived in my email last night, it didn’t seem as if I was needed, so I contacted the stage manager to see if that was the case. My fingers were crossed, as the thought of a four hour round trip journey in and out of Manhattan was daunting, to say the least. She wrote me back, confirmed that I wasn’t needed, and said STAY IN BED. I’ll either need to go in tomorrow or Friday, but having today free is a blessing.
So, life has been about feeling miserable, not eating very much and not having the energy to even read. Today, I feel a bit better, thank goodness.
This came yesterday:
As I was putting it on the bookshelf, I realized that I have a numerical run of the books, not by planning, just coincidentally. 12 through 18. The Mystery of the Ivory Charm is number 13.
That, my friends, is it for now. Don is taking care of me, bless his heart, and I’m hoping that this day brings more strength and healing.
Happy Wednesday.
Having just survived the flu I know how you feel. Rest, lots of fluids and more rest is what it takes. Thank goodness you have Don to take care of you. I do love your Nancy Drew collection, the covers are works of art. I hope you feel better by tomorrow. Sending hugs your way!
Thank you, Linda. This ain’t fun! I have no appetite at all.
Wishing you well today.
Thank you, Linda.
How fortunate that you don’t have to travel! More time for rest, fluids, and relaxation! Thank goodness you have Don, what a blessing. It’s a glorious day here…up to 67 today….a new record! I’m opening a couple windows while I can. Winter looks to be coming back by this weekend…I’m hoping it will be short-lived. Fingers crossed you will be feeling better by tomorrow! ;)
Same weather is headed our way for tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I don’t have to go in until Friday.
Hope you are feeling better. It sounds like we are suffering the same illness. I feel I just turned the corner today.
It isn’t fun, is it? Glad to hear you’ve turned the corner.
Claudia, feel better. hope you have more energy today, and take a long nap to recharge even more. Enjoy being taken care of, and enjoy your new old book.
Thank you, Wendy. I feel like I’m in a fog – hard to concentrate on anything.
Hope this day brings improvement for you. Nancy Drew and the great graphics are a true picker-upper……sending get well wishes, Dianne
Thank you, Dianne!
What a wonderful fortune to have today off so you can rest another day. It truly is a very big piece of getting well. As Donnamae said, we are to reach 67* today. I just sat out on the deck with the dogs for a bit. Unbelievable. At noon, when the sun reaches this side of the house, I will open windows. In February!! Crazy times!!
If you do not one other thing, please please read John P’s post today http://johnpavlovitz.com/2017/02/22/christian-stop-telling-me-god-is-in-control/ It gave me some direction in my thoughts today…… I needed it for sure.
Feel better, dear friend. Make the most of your gifted day and rest and also sip some tea and lots of water!! xo
I just got it in my inbox. I’ll read it today, Chris. Thank you.
Hope you’re well soon. This crud must be in the wind!
I guess so! Don says a lot of people he knows have been down with the flu.
So good you have time to mend; here’s hoping you have until Friday. On the Nancy Drew front, we received a post Christmas holiday letter (a real letter!) from an old friend last week. No cards this year, he explained, as he’d been caring for his wife – who suffers from dementia – as she healed after a breaking several bones in a fall in November. After years of reading Scott and Dickens aloud together, they are now reading Nancy Drew.
Oh, I love that story, Margaret! Thanks for sharing it with me. xo
I think that I may have missed that one. I was a big Nancy Drew reader as a girl; I can’t believe I missed one! Or it could just be my failing memory.
Hope that you feel better soon.
Thank you, Carolyn Marie!
Oh yuck. Feel better, Claudia. I guess a lot of people are feeling the same right now. My mom always said people ALWAYS get sick when there’s a weird winter thaw. Her theory was that people went from being thoroughly bundled up to wearing just a jacket, no hat etc. And this apparently throws the body out of whack or something. She might have been right too – it’s happened to me more times than I care to remember. Anyway FEEL BETTER! You know the routine. Liquids, lots of rest etc. And make yourself eat if you have to – your body needs fuel to fight off the evil invaders. And hot tea with lots of lemon and honey if you like that. Honey is an amazing substance. Google it sometime as a medicinal thing – you’ll be amazed. Peace.

Well, there wasn’t a thaw when I initially came down with this – there is now, of course. Don and I always say, it doesn’t pay to go out in the world. And I’ve been out there quite a bit lately, with exposure to lots of people!
I hope you feel better soon. You have a fantastic caretaker there with you. Take it easy and enjoy your Nancy Drew!
Thank you, Carol!
Claudia,
I hope you start feeling well soon. I just got over this sort of stuff but it sounds like you are having a harder case.
By the way, your husband’s story of the bald eagle gave me chills because it was so mystical and such a surprise. It seems like a message; my gosh, we have an administrations who is ending regulations, denies climate change, taking animals off endangered lists. We all better be paying attention. This is very sad for our earth.
Get well, Love and Peace
Katheryn (gonna go listen to some van Morrison as I take a walk near our woods~~)
Thank you, Katheryn!
You ran yourself pretty hard with going back and forth to NYC. Someone is putting you on a ‘time out’.
I hope you will start to feel soon.
Peace,
Monica
Thank you, Monica!
Feel better soon!
As for me, it’s the knee; don’t know what happened, but it’s ice and ibuprofen time.
(Always something! But SoCalif has sunshine today, and it’s SO nice…)
I am so happy about the sunshine! I have been worried.
So glad you got some sunshine, Vicki. Feel better.
So fun to go back thru the comments and see responses/chat; I’m weather-obsessed, I know. Thanks for caring; yes, we Californians are drying out, but every time we begin to complain about wet and mud, we remember how barren it’s been and how beautiful now to see things growing again after years of this awful drought.
Sorry to hear you are sick. It sounds like you have the same thing I have. I have been sick since last Friday with no improvement. I am going to Urgent Care, I scheduled an appointment for 7:00 because I am sick of being sick!
I don’t blame you. I’m getting better, but it’s been a slow journey.
Claudia, I hope you feel better very soon, you and all the readers with various ailments. I can’t think of a good side of being sick. Even reading in bed or taking the day off is not fun when you feel lousy.
Exactly. I’m ready to be done with this!
Sorry you are sick – it does indeed sound like you have the flu. I hope you are able to get continued rest.
I’ve been resting but last night was a cough-filled night, which left me feeling exhausted. Oh, well.
I hope you don’t have to go in tomorrow…every day of rest will help. Feel better soon, Claudia!
Thank you, Sherry!
Thank Don once again for taking good care of his lady who we all admire so much…I wrote you a little note on Instagram about so books I found recently..Take care..I am so hoping I do not get it again with so much of it going around…Not going out among people unless I really need something..Hugs
Yep. Going out among other people is what brought my particular bout of the flu on!
