What the Heck is in That China Cabinet, Part 2

October 15, 2012 at 11:09 am by Claudia

Well, for those of you who were extra observant this morning, you might have seen a quick panicked post about my camera not working. I couldn’t get the shutter to work and as this has been a bit problematic lately, I thought I no longer had a working camera. Dollar signs flashed in front of my eyes.

I figured out what the problem was and all is well, for the time being. Sigh of relief.

Now for the next installment of “What the heck is in that china cabinet?”

Here you see the kitchen china cabinet in all it’s jumbled glory. Starting with the top shelf, on the left:

1. Some Emma Bridgewater pottery: A saucer and pitcher. I have another pitcher holding our toothbrushes in the bathroom. 2. A child’s plate, also Bridgewater 3. Baked egg cup, Bridgewater  (All the Bridgewater pottery was bought when I was in England.) 4. Small cream pitcher, Bridgewater 5. Fiesta teapot that I saved for myself when I sold my collection. I love it.

Top shelf, on the right:

1. McCoy vase 2. Platter, Johnson Bros. Rose Chintz (I have the dishes, as well) 3. Lovely shaker given to me by Donna 4. McCoy pot 5. McCoy pot 6. Depression glass salt and pepper shakers

Middle shelf, left:

1. Roseville pottery 2. Harlequin pitcher with my Bakelite flatware 3. Brown transferware sugar and creamer 4. pine cone candle from Poland, given to us by the same friends who gave me 5. tiny teapot 6. plate from Anthropologie with the initial H

Middle Shelf, right:

1. Teacups from my collection of Edwin Knowles china 2. Large plate that I bought in California because I loved it 3. McCoy vase 4. McCoy planting dish 5. Very old Brush McCoy pitcher 6. China salad plate made in France

Bottom shelf, left:

1. McCoy pottery planter 2. Red Wing Pottery vase (the inside is a soft green 3. Fiesta teapot 4. McCoy planting dish with a nest I found on the property inside)

Bottom shelf, right:

Lots of Edwin Knowles China.

There are a few vases missing from the cabinet. They are currently holding all the flowers I had to cut when the frost hit on Friday night.

There you go. Always dicey trying to photograph the inside of a cabinet. On a cloudy day.

These scarves are currently in the Etsy shop:

Happy Monday.

Love the Emma Bridgewater pieces. So neat. And also the McCoy blue pitcher. All of it is neat, but those are probably my favorites.

I don’t think I have to tell you how much I love your scarves. ;-)

    XO,

    Sheila

P.S. Glad you got your camera working!

I went through about an hour of total panic, Sheila. I depend on my camera for blogging and I didn’t know what I was going to do! Thank goodness, everything seems to be working at the present.

I have no doubt it was horrible. I am so thankful you got it working again and hope it is all okay now. One of the worst things that ever happened to me was losing a computer where all of my old pics were stored. It got hit by lightening, even with a surge protector. And now the other pics are all on my computer that is flukey. I pray I can get them off!

I pray that yours is giong to be fully functional for you, Claudia.

        XO,

        Sheila

Thank you so much! If left to my own devices, I’d be buying stuff all of the time. But there’s only so much room here at the cottage.

So glad your camera is working again. I actually dug out an old one of mine and wondered if it would be worth sending to you! It’s not fancy, but would work in a pinch.

What a fun post! I love peeking in china cabinets and it’s way fun to get a guided tour! I recently collected some Jadeite and showed photos of them in my cabinet. But I put all of them on 1 shelf and I like how you mix your stuff up. I need to take everything out of mine and start over.. right now it’s stuffed to the gills! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

My grandmother had a set of the Rose Chintz when I was a young girl. I starting collecting it a few years back because it brought back happy memories.

    Hello Claudia,
What a beautiful collection of pretty pieces. My MIL has the same beautiful Rose Chintz dishes that you have and I can’t help but think of enjoying them on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.
Blessings on this glorious Autumn day,

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
