When There’s Nothing to Blog About

March 27, 2014 at 9:06 am by Claudia

lampshade

I sat here this morning with absolutely no idea about what to blog about today. Truly.

I looked through my photos, hoping for some inspiration.

I racked my brain.

Nothing.

I finally found some photos to edit and figured I would simply start writing and see if I came up with anything blogworthy.

And…I couldn’t get on my site.

I tried again and again. Nothing. The server was down.

It occurred to me that maybe the Universe was giving me an excuse not to blog!

I called my host and was on hold for several minutes. And just as someone finally came on the line, the blog was back up again.

So I guess I have to write something.

highlightandshadow

The truth is, yesterday was windy and raw and the high winds went on all day. Scoutie and I hunkered down and not a whole lot happened. I talked to Don several times as I always do, I read, I messed around with some cosmetic changes on the blog, I washed the sheets, made some cornbread – nothing very exciting.

I’m ready for spring. Ready for some work outdoors, for something to jumpstart me out of the same old, same old. I haven’t been able to get motivated.

But I will.

Scoutie and I will take a walk today. That will help.

Writing a blog post every day isn’t always easy. Most of the time, it is. But today? Yikes, it was hard. Really hard.

Let’s close with another shot of Scoutie in my hat. Just because it makes me laugh.

scoutienanook

Happy Thursday.

Hi Claudia and happy wind-diminished (hopefully) Thursday. Even if you can’t think of something to write, your pictures are always beautiful…thanks for sharing them. Love the shot of Scout in your hat — too cute and it did make me laugh out loud.

Just know that your daily posts are SO appreciated. They don’t have to have a purpose or be wordy or thought-provoking or philosophical – they just have to be you. Do you remember the days when people would send postcards? My grandma would send just plain post cards with some basic up dates to my mom back in the 60s and 70s. It was just a nice way to stay in touch. That’s the way I feel about your blog posts – a nice way to stay in touch. Oh yes, they often are so interesting, funny, gorgeous photos, etc. But just knowing that your post will be out there is one of my little highlights of my days!

Scout looks cute as ever! Well, I’m amazed at what you do blog about….and everyday. So, if you can’t think…you can’t think! I think I am just bored…I’ve even cleaned out my dreaded linen closet…ben avoiding it for at least three years! Found some interesting things…there’s a lot of things in my linen closet, not all towels! I’m starting to plan out my flower containers, and making notes. I even splurged on a magazine yesterday..Container Gardening…to get some inspiration. It’s raining here today…what can I clean next? ;)

I’m bored out of my mind, Donna. I need Spring, I think. I’ve done some reorganizing and cleaning out, but some days I just can’t get too excited about anything like that.
I think I need my husband, too. A week and a half, and he’ll be back home.

Scout looks so adorable in your hat! Glad you were able to hunker down yesterday since it was so windy out. Gosh Claudia, I’m always amazed at how you come up with something to write about every day. Even today the picture made me chuckle. Sometimes I think our brains just get tired and need to take a little break. That’s one reason I love working in the yard this time of the year. You can just work and not really think about anything in particular. It’s overcast here today but some relatives have gone to the beach, not my idea of a great day with it also being kind of cool but hey, to each his own. Hope you and your girl have an awesome day!

One of my favorite things is to feel the sun-shine inside on a cold windy day. That’s why I love your pic of the quilt, I could almost feel it and wow am I ever glad we didn’t experience the weather of the north east yesterday!
When you select seeds and plants for your garden, do you use something, like your quilt for inspiration to coordinate colors or do you go out in search of a particular plant for a particular place in your garden or pot on the porch, or do you select plants that “speak” to you in the garden center? Just curious because my physical limitations this year will require me to simplify home and gardens and yours appears planned and spontaneous at the same time.

I just pick plants I like. I may choose something because I’ve read about it somewhere, but basically, I go for what I like and I don’t necessarily care about a color scheme. Of course, I make sure the plant is something that will thrive where I plant it, i.e., shade, sun, etc. But I like a cottage garden that is sort of unplanned and lush.

I can only imagine how hard it is to blog every single day – I sometimes have a hard enough time with doing so 2-3x/week! Sometimes I’ll think of things I can write about and then those bad little voices in my head tell me it’s boring and that no one would be interested. Or, sometimes I just don’t feel like writing! Today is one of those gray, raw, rainy days here which basically equals no motivation for me. I did manage a blog post today though, too.

I think it brings readers back when they know there’s going to be something new most of the time. But you DO deserve to take a break from from time to time. Dear Claudia
Like many of your readers I visit your blog everyday, that’s the first thing I do on turning on my computer-It’s like visiting a friend or calling a relative to ask about how “he or she ” is.No matter how inspired d you are to write.I enjoy your photos very much ,not to say when adorable Scout is the image I see. The way you see ” life” is what I like most.I feel happy with your happiness, I feel worried with your worries and your sadness make me sad.Like the other day when I began reading your post about Realy`s garden I just couldn’t leave a comment , too sad.I loved your boy and your words made me realise I have the same feelings about my dear doggie daughter whom I lost a year and a month ago. So,why not share with us at least a few words about everything you like or maybe ” dislike“? And after all, what about asking Scout to post something when inspiration is gone? Her comments about what she sees aroud her are so funny! Well, go on writing at least to let us know that you and your family( parents included ) are well ,A big kiss for you and Scout!

I’ll bet your cornbread was delicious! I love baking , reading, and puttering around the cottage when I’m homebound. But as you said, it’s time now to get out into the gardens. Soon I hope!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
