Where oh Where is my Wallpaper?

May 29, 2026 at 9:22 am by Claudia

I took this picture to contrast the size of Rosie, my smallest doll in height, with the scale of the 1:12 dollhouse. I find scale fascinating. Alongside my Blythes, Rosie is really petite. (They’re all 1:6 scale.) But stick her in the dollhouse and she’s huge!

Speaking of the dollhouse, the darned wallpaper has still not moved from the Washington, DC post office. Why am I not surprised that this particular post office is incredibly inefficient? The first package hasn’t moved either. It’s been there for almost 2 weeks. For heaven’s sake, I could have driven to Washington DC, picked it up from the seller, and driven back in the same day! This is ridiculous and maddening. As much as I love the two patterns I ordered, I’m going to look again at what other sellers are offering and maybe order something else. Yesterday, because I needed something to do, I put two kits that I had on hand together. One is a demilune table and putting it together was easy as pie. Then I assembled a four poster bed and it turned out just fine, as well. I considered using it the Beacon Hill bedroom, but it’s really, really big and it will overwhelm everything in that room. Back to the wrought iron bed I already have on hand. (The kits I mention are from House of Miniatures. I have a number of them because generous readers of the blog sent them to me over the years. I’m trying to use them as much as possible in the Beacon Hill.)

A bit blurry because of the early morning light, but that’s the table. You won’t really see it because it will be behind the sofa. I’ll have a plant or a vase of flowers on it

I mowed the lilac side of the lawn on Wednesday and I’m going to mow the rest of the front lawn today. Or at least, I’m going to try! It’s fairly cool out there so it’s a good day to tackle it.

Maybe we should have a bet going as to when that wallpaper might arrive…

Given some reviews I’ve read, I’m starting to suspect the Etsy shop owner might create the label with tracking number at home, but takes several days to drop it off at the post office. Two packages in a row with the same problem seems highly suspect.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Good Morning Claudia! That is so so frustrating! It is tempting to blame the current bunch of idiots “running” (or is that “ruining” things?) for all the mishaps of the Postal System in general. There was also the “Memorial Day” weekend in the mix and that throws stuff off. And almost every business these days is having trouble with under-staffing and workers with poor “work ethics”. I know that gets blamed on Covid shutdowns… but really? Can you put in a query to the PO about the “missing” package? I sent a box to my Aunt in Seattle a couple years ago and watched it get stranded in Salt Lake City! Probably just got put on the wrong truck by someone not paying attention. It did move once I had put in a missing package query. I hope your package shows up!!! The HOM kits are such good kits, I am glad you have a bunch of them. Practically the first kit I ever bought was a HOM kit for a bow front bureau back in 1974…. I still have that little bureau! And yes, scale is very fascinating! My favorite thing to do is 144th scale stuff in the 1/12th scale rooms… dollhouses for dollhouses….. so much fun!

You can’t put in a query when the tracking number has been issued but the post office says they haven’t received it yet. I’m starting to suspect, given some reviews I’ve read, that she creates the label at home but take a long time to drop it off at the post office. I mean, really? Two packages sitting at the post office? Something is fishy.

      Stay safe, Betsy.

I hate it when things I order go into the black hole of the post office. I hope it arrives soon.

It’s either the post office, or, as I am suspecting, she issues a tracking number and then takes forever to get it to the post office. I’ve seen several reviews complaining about lack of communication and long delivery times.

      Stay safe, Linda.

too bad about the wallpaper delays … so frustrating! i hope it arrives soon and that you can find other options for wallpaper, etc. that work better for you.

glad you have other things you enjoy until the wallpaper arrives.

    and rosie is adorable.

yesterday my sister and i delivered a nice check to a food program in minneapolis. with all the chaos and cruelty up there these past many months, at our church we offered items to show resistance to aggression/support to people in crisis (among other things, bought whistles and peace sign buttons, made postcards/mini-prints and knit dozens and dozens of red pointy hats. a congregation member later added earrings). available for free to raise awareness and show support … but congregation members and visitors rallied! i am so proud of them … they donated $1,406.52 to this! that money was equally divided between our church’s free fridge/food pantry (available 24/7 outside) and a food program not far from where renee good was murdered. later my sister and i walked at a favorite lake, then stopped at clear lake to sit by more water. drove a half-hour off the interstate to get three of my cross-stitch projects to a shop for finishing, then obviously drove back again … my sister is a good sport. lots of time in the car (ten-plus hours) yesterday so walking at the lake, and early this morning, was extra-nice. also nice is having no plans for today. :)

    happy, safe days for all!

That is such a sweet looking little girl. She does have a face that is not only cute but it has a bit of spice, too.

I finished a third novel by Stewart O’ Nan. I really enjoyed them. The three have all been about one family. I have one more to go about the family. I will miss the characters in the books. I hope to read some of his other books.

I get ill just hearing the voices of the “people” involved in the pukes administration/ criminal organization. May they all rot in hell. I have no use for his supporters..
    Sorry, the tv is on.
Have a beautiful and peaceful weekend,
    Your friend in UT,
    Kaye

How frustrating! I’m betting you will get both packages on the same day. ..maybe not soon, but same day. I’ve been seeing quite a few people posting on facebook that their packages are being delivered to wrong addresses too.
    Take care

Rosie is cute. I wentbto a large garage sale with dad today. My friend and her sister organized it for their parents. I picked up a few little things.

Overheard dad say to old john, ‘oh, Irene paints’. Well, I said ‘not really’, but there was a real pleased quality to how my dad said it. Now I feel inspired to get to work. My painting has been just ugh, but I’ll see what I can do with it. It feels nice to be encouraged – maybe I will be a painter!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
