The wild phlox, or Dame’s Rocket, that is growing everywhere on the property will soon be winding down. I walked around yesterday and I could see that some of them no longer have any blooms. They are so beautiful, but their time here is brief. I’ll miss them.

This might be my favorite time here on the property, the time when there are wildflowers everywhere. Down by the mailbox, all around the shed, on the edge of the woods, in the secret garden, and in the spaces between pavers on the funky patio. I just love it. I generally leave them alone and modify any weed whacking I might do so they are protected. The bees love them.
The wallpaper is arriving today, a day earlier than predicted. That means I have to do some prep work on the dollhouse and make some templates that I can use when I cut it. Yesterday, I was inspired to move a few things around in our shared studio space – mainly so I could get better access to that antique cupboard that holds some of my miniatures. Then I reorganized the cupboard (I forgot there is a drawer inside!) Then a general clean up and straightening of the space because too much clutter annoys me. Healthy clutter, yes. Too much clutter, no.
I got two more miniatures on Saturday, from the same seller that made the tramp art/victorian framed painting. I had been eyeing another tramp art piece and when she restocked a couple of them, I went for it. I also purchased an easel.

Look at that frame! Isn’t it perfect??

Oh boy! I love her creations, which are very reasonably priced. Tight budget here!
I’ve decided that the tiny room on the top floor, the one that is so tiny that it’s almost like a closet, will be a wee little art studio. It has two windows so it would have good light. Just an easel, some shelves for supplies, and a stool of some kind. Maybe some mini oil paintings here and there, waiting to dry.
Today would have been my parents’ 80th wedding anniversary.
Okay. Time to get going.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

I love the easel and the idea of an art studio in the house! Every home should have one! And that Durer in the tramp frame — one of my favorite art pieces and so tiny! I’m glad the wallpaper is on the way.
I have wild phlox too and, like you, mourn its short season. Even when the blooms drop, the spiky stems are interesting! Have a fun week.
They are interesting! I was just thinking that when I was taking pictures.
Thanks, Jeanie.

Love that shot of the easel, but…I cant stop loving the tiny sofa backed by the enormous tulips! If I were younger I’d steal it and redecorate!
Ha!
Thanks, Shanna!

Pleased the wallpaper will arrive soon. I always hate when momentum is interrupted by circumstances not of my own making. The wee print of the rabbit looks familiar but I’m terrible at remembering artists or authors. The easel is authentically splattered by a prolific artist!
Happy memories for you today.
Jeanie said it was by Durer, Wendy.
Thanks so much.

that sounds wonderful … wandering around your property, seeing so many beautiful flowers … the results of your hard work. enjoy (i know you do)!
i also have some (re)organizing to do and don’t feel like it at all. will get to it, but after a break. today i started volunteering at my church (9:00 – noon on mondays, to answer the phone and any inquiries at the door, etc.) so the office manager can have some hopefully-uninterrupted time to get done the things that must happen on mondays). was a pretty quiet start today. am glad.
will be glad for you when the wallpaper finally arrives. my “james castle” art book was supposed to arrive last friday, then saturday. now? maybe tomorrow. depends on who i believe … the seller or the publisher/shipper (weird to me that they aren’t the same). nothing from usps yet. will see. i have other books to read; just excited about this one.
and ready to have lunch.
hope you’re having an easy day.
stay safe.

Isn’t it frustrating waiting for something you really want to arrive in the mail? I hope you got it today, Kathy.
Stay safe.
yes, it is frustrating. i don’t like it when my motivation, interests and supplies don’t match up with each other and with my “free” time and money! :/,
no book delivery today. am trying to take it as a lesson in patience (haha), and reminding myself that only the end of the world is the end of the world.
thanks, claudia.

An art studio! What a wonderful idea, it really is “you.”
I am reading the new Elizabeth Strout book. I am liking it very much. I find it comforting but I can’t really explain why.
I have wild phlox, I believe it is actually called Rocket and it is considered invasive in UT . I have pulled up some but I have left some .
Take Care,
Kaye
It’s called Dame’s Rocket or is shortened to Rocket. If it’s invasive here (it isn’t) I say let it be invasive!
Stay safe, Kaye.
The last years have been super hard on me, dealing with grief and such. I think I’m finding my joy again. I finished a painting and it’s okay. My aunt and uncle in BC have their 60th Aniversary this week, wow!! He’s an eccentric old English minister and my aunt is a fuss-pot and was a very good nurse. I’d like to make them a little card with the watercolor skills I tried to pick up through a class at our art studio yesterday. It’s so nice to see a few friends there and I hope to feel well enough to get working on more projects soon as I’m treated (for the strange illness I have). Dad sees me as a better than average painter, and I’ve put my sister’s name on the bottom of a very antique, hand painted, gorgeous coffee server. Dad wanted me to do the same on this small old blue painting that was brought over from Holland by his mother. I am thrilled beyond words to think I’ll hang that painting in our home! It’s blue and very unassuming, that is, until you come in close. Then there are all the shades of blue and teal in the sky, land and sea. It’s a stunner and nobody really looks at it, as Mom and Dad had lots of paintings.
There was a huge earthquake in Russia, setting off a tsunami that may reach Vancouver Island and Vancouver. My husband and I have some family on the island – I’m pretty worried.
I’d like to shrink myself and live in your little cottage.
Aw, thank you, Irene! I often feeling the same.

Good Morning Claudia! I hope the paper has already arrived! So good the hear! As for the framed Durer rabbit… I have always loved that print… Durer was amazing… and the frame is perfect. The easel looks well used by an exuberant artist. There will need to be canvasses for evidence of productivity at the least. I hope you have a wonderful time with the wall paper. And I just love the idea of the tiny studio in the attic! As you know.. we have to make use of the space we have, however limited it is!
Yes, lots of convasses!
Thanks so much, Betsy.

I love that you have the same definition of clutter. I have a lot of stuff in my house but all organized! And it is all stuff I love. Isn’t’ that what a home should be? Enjoy your wildflowers!
It’s exactly what a home should be, Deb.
Thanks so much.
