We had another wind event yesterday. Cue: my scream. Even Don has had it with this stuff. It’s significantly colder today, but it looks like the warmup will begin at the end of the week. Please? Spring has been officially here for quite a while, but except for my daffodils and the forsythia blooming in the woods, you wouldn’t know it.
• The cup on the left is vinrage Spode and it’s simply beautiful. You can see part of the interior cup artwork – a beetle. I love cups that have not only an exterior design, but an inner one as well. This pattern is Chelsea Bird.
• The silver egg cup that Don and I found in a shop in Paris. I didn’t want him to spend the money, but he insisted. It’s absolutely exquisite. The design is art nouveau. And it’s quite petite. It’s my most valuable egg cup and I’m absolutely sure it currently needs polishing. It tarnishes so quickly.
• A lustreware egg cup – duck/chick carrying the cup on its back.
• A pig preparing to dine on an egg. I love this cup. It was made for Tiffany and is Staffordshire china.
• A little girl in a bunny costume holding on to a cup covered in polkadots. That face kills me! She’s so sweet.
• My first egg cup, given to me by my godparents. It was made for Fanny Farmer. Somehow, I managed to hang on to it for decades. I distinctly remember being back home for a visit when I was in grad school. It was in my grandmother’s trunk and I scooped it up and took it back to Philadelphia. Years and years later, not long after we moved to New York, I saw an article in Martha Stewart Living about egg cups and this particular egg cup was in one of the photos. What? You can collect egg cups??? I started researching egg cups and you know the result.
• This little bunny rabbit is so adorable and she always reminds me of Scout. The white and pink ears, the mischievous expression on her face – let’s face it, it’s Scout in egg cup form.
• A bunny and an egg cup “window” house. (I may have shown you this earlier.)
• A pig with an egg cup on his back.
I’ve not been sleeping well, though I think I caught up on some much needed sleep last night. Oh, for some peace of mind!
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.
Great egg cups! I especially thought the little girl with the bunny costume was so cute. I can see that’s a fun item to collect. I certainly hope your wind dies down and the sun comes out!
No sun today! But hopefully, tomorrow.
Thanks so much, Barrie.
Stay safe.
Love your egg cups. <3
We also have high winds, gray skies and intermittent rain here in NW CT. I'm so tired of the weather and the news. It's exhausting. Not sleeping well especially since the last week our neighbors have had leaf blowing crews out starting at 6:30. Enough complaints from me!
I am watching a robin looking for worms , enjoying the bright yellow daffodils against the gray sky while listening to the Pileated woodpeckers doing there double drumming!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
It’s all too much, Betsy. But I do the same as you; look for beauty in nature. That sure helps.
Stay safe.
My daffodils and forsythia are blooming like crazy and it’s so great to see.
I sadly had a high school friend die yesterday. We have a small group of friends from high school that meet for brunch once a month. Karen had the best stories and a lovely laugh. We will miss her so. A sudden blood bleed to her brain on Sunday put her on life support and that was taken away yesterday. I’m hoping she felt no pain. It certainly makes me realize that we are here one minute and gone the next. Enjoy life, share love and kindness as often as we can.
Oh, Ellen, I am so sorry for your loss. To lose a lifelong friend is heartbreaking My sympathy in this time of bereavement.

That Spode cup is a gem — it might be my favorite of all you’ve shown. Not as ‘cute’ but so lovely. And I can see why Don bought the silver one for you. How could he resist?
It can’t go on forever.
It won’t. I believe it will start to end in May. (Just my thoughts on the subject.)
Stay safe, Jeanie.
You should start painting again. I have started painting again and it’s giving me so much peace of mind!
I’ve been wanting to, but my head still isn’t in the right place.
Stay safe, Jenny.
Our sign that it’s spring are the Palo Verde trees covered in yellow flowers. They’re very pretty but it also predicts triple digits are on their way. We already hit 100 last week. Enjoyed all your egg cups. I see what you mean about the little bunny reminding you of Scout. What a nice forever reminder.
Yes, I like to look at that little bunny.
Enjoy those trees in bloom, Olivia.
Stay safe.
Thank you are taking time to show your egg cups, it brightens my day during these very troubled times.
I actually remember when you got the silver cup on your Paris trip . What a joyful trip that was in beautiful Paris.
Take Care,
Kaye
It was. I loved being there.
Thanks so much, Kaye.
Stay safe.
