With Deep Sympathy

September 23, 2011 at 11:29 am by Claudia

I have to take a moment to write about loss. Sometimes I am hit with news that stops me in my tracks. That happened this week when I read the latest post by my blogging friend, Jayne. Jayne is a talented miniaturist who has the most generous of hearts. You’ve seen one of Jayne’s creations quite often on this blog.

Jayne created the lovely statue with flowers on the right.

What you might not know is that Jayne sent me a wonderful package with all sorts of miniatures, including this statue, simply because she likes giving to others and I was new to the dollhouse world – because her heart is a giving one.

Jayne and her husband, Mick, are British and live in California. They bought a home last year and had been working on it together.  Last week, Mick suddenly died of a heart attack at the age of 51. He was on his way home on his motorcycle. Jayne wrote eloquently about Mick and shared with us what a wonderful and kind man he was.

My heart breaks for Jayne and her family. I am not writing this in order for you to go to her post and leave a comment. I’m writing this because Jayne is part of my blogging life and has touched my heart with her kindness in the past. I have shown that statue in many photos over the past week. To show it and not acknowledge the heartbreak and loss this lovely woman is going through feels wrong.

We can be here one day and gone the next. Life is precious beyond belief. As Jayne says so movingly in her post, “tell your family you love them each time you are saying goodbye.”

Dear Jayne, may you be enveloped in the love of your family and friends and may peace and healing find their way to your heart.

Lovely post Claudia. Jayne is fortunate to have such a caring friend. This breaks my heart. I tell my sweet husband I love him everyday but it is hearing something like this that makes me want to hold him close and never let go.

Beautiful post! I read her blog and am so saddened by her loss. Her and Mick were so close and their love lives on in her heart. They were a special couple. Not many know their love for each other. I am so glad that you and her are friends. She is so lucky to have such a caring friend in you.

This is so terribly sad Claudia, and I’m so sorry to hear of your friend’s loss. I actually have just picked up a little something to get me started on making miniatures of different sorts.. Charms and embellishments mostly, but you KNOW I love my dollies, and I figured I would be making miniatures for them as well… I will give her the privacy you suggest for the time being, but I would like to visit with her eventually to see all that she does! The various pieces you show here are so sweet! ~tina

Claudia, I am so sorry to hear about Mick, Jayne’s husband. I do not know her, but your kind description paints her as a wonderful friend to you. To be taken at a relatively young age is tragic and I will keep her and her family in my thoughts. Ann

I am so sorry to hear about Jayne’s Husband. She is so right. Telling people you love them every time you say goodbye is so important because one day it might be the last time you see them. She sounds like such a great person and I will pray that she is surrounded by people who love her and support her now in her time of need and in the days, weeks, and months to come.
    Blessings, Joanne

Claudia your post is a wonderful tribute to your dear friend in her time of tenderness. Mr. C and I were at the Reno Air Races just 20 yards from the VIP section and thankfully we left just shortly before the tragic deadly crash. It really does put life in a much more purposeful and loving reality. I am still shaken as to how close it came to us.

GOD be with you and lift your spirits and I pray he will also lift your friend Jayne and her family as they face life without her dear Mick.

It is never easy to lose the ones we love, and you are right, Claudia. We need to rejoice in every moment we have with them and tell them (and show them) how much we love them.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
