The adventures of Wren:
I’m not sure how happy Bertie is about this…
Exploring the property.
Well, Friday is here, and hopefully, we’ll have less wind. It was non-stop for two days, driving me crazy. I have so much to do outside! Don tells me it’s supposed to be sunny for the next three days, with gradually warming temperatures.
Don and I went for a spontaneous drive yesterday. A simple one, really, just a drive around our town. But it made a huge difference in my attitude. He was right – getting out was a good idea. Then we came back and my better half made an incredible burrito. Later, we finished the apple pie.
A good day.
I’m a bit more than halfway through The Dark Hours, by Michael Connelly. Excellent, as always. While on our little drive, we stopped at the library and I picked up the other books that were waiting for me: A Change of Circumstance by Susan Hill, and Something to Hide by Elizabeth George. George’s books are extremely long so I’ll probably read that one last, as all of these books have due dates. I’ll probably read the Susan Hill next, then the Horowitz, and then…maybe I’ll get to the George.
Don is getting ready to start in on his photography gig again, which grounded to a halt during the pandemic. He’ll be working the Farmer’s Market again this year, but that doesn’t start up until June. In the meantime, he has to reacquaint himself with the Crown Graphic, so I suspect I will be in some test photos.
And that’s it for today. Fingers crossed that I can get outside and do some more garden bed clearing.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

I hope the virus numbers are not escalating in New York like they are here.
The deaths are also creeping up here.
I am sure Don will be careful at the Farmers Market this summer.
I think younger people don’t think much about it but older people though vaccinated need to be careful.
Claudia says
They’ve already escalated. Each time the virus/variants hit the US, they show up in NYC and the northeast first. That has been the case throughout COVID.
Of course he’ll be careful! He’ll be outside, which will help.
Stay safe, Linda.
Pat Gaudreau says
This is going to sound odd but little Bertie reminds me of Madeline McCann, just an adorable face!
I did the same this morning,a drive to clear my head and a couple of thrift shops…all good.
Enjoy your weekend
Claudia says
Bertie is the dog, Pat. Do you mean Wren, the little girl?
Stay safe.
Donnamae says
I do hope you’ll be able to get some outdoor work done this weekend. I know you’ve been anxious. Unfortunately, our weather is not cooperating. While it is decent out there right now, we are to have rain, wind and storms this weekend. Monday and Tuesday, I’m planning trips to two nurseries…and hopefully, my garage will become a temporary nursery til we are good to go.
Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
I was out briefly, but again, it was much too windy. Three days in a row! I bought some plants but they’re inside the house until the nighttime temps are warmer.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Roxie says
Here’s to car rides, garden chores, flowers, girlies and plans!
Claudia says
Thanks, Roxie!
Stay safe.
Chris K in WI says
As Donnamae said, our weather is pretty crappy. Lots of rain & wind forecast for all day tomorrow. My garage is now a nursery. We moved the plants we over-wintered from the basement & brought the grow lights up with them as it looks awful cloudy and rainy for days and days ahead. It is going to be awhile….plus new plants I have been purchasing are already in there. We place our FFA plant order tomorrow, also and those are ready next weekend for picking up.
Hope you had luck working outside today! Wren looks too cute!! Take care.
Claudia says
Yes, we had wind again today. It never seems to end.
We don’t have a garage, so the plants I bought this morning are in the living room. I think the shed might be too cold.
Stay safe, Chris.

Well, if what’s here is headed there, you’re in for better weather. Today was about 60 and sunny and no particular wind, barely a breeze or a gentle one if that. So, fingers crossed it holds.
Wren is darling on Bertie! How fun they’re just the right size together!
Claudia says
They are darned cute, Jeanie!
Stay safe.
Vicki says
I’d like to frame that top photo; how adorable, how you staged it!
Claudia says
Thank you, Vicki!
Stay safe.
Martha says
Adventures, indeed! Darling.
I hate to be a wet blanket about the whole wind thing. NorCal has been having winds off and on for too long. Friday was hot at 75 (anything over 70 is hot to me). Moved into windy in the evening. Everyone holding their breath that no fires begin.
Claudia says
We have fire danger warnings almost every day. The humidity has dropped and the winds have been relentless. Thinking of you and hoping that there are no fires.
Stay safe, Martha.
