The cottage in yesterday’s late afternoon sun. It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm. I was able to open the windows during the afternoon for some fresh air.

Today? Rain. And you’ll notice some handled tools near our door. Snow shovels. We’re going to get a fair amount of snow and sleet on Sunday and Monday.

May I just say YUCK? Not at all excited about it. Of course, I know our choice to live here comes with snow. But after…67 years minus the 8 years I lived in California…59 years of this stuff, I’m over it. I will do my best to have a positive attitude, however.

It will take some work.

Note how green our grass is! We’ve had so much rain this autumn that it’s quite long and very green.

I’m really enjoying The Essex Serpent  by Sarah Perry. I’m about 2/3 of the way through.

The winner of a copy of Body Leaping Backward:Memoir of a Delinquent Girlhood  is Noelle Sweeney. Congratulations! Noelle, I’ll email you, but if you see this first, please email me at the address on my sidebar and give me your mailing address. Thank you!

Happy Wednesday.

Paris Lithograph

November 26, 2019 at 10:58 am by Claudia

There it is. I took these photos late yesterday afternoon, and the lithograph was lit by the setting sun.

We’re very pleased with the final result.

Detail on the frame, which is black with a raised leaf design that is touched by bronze.

It hangs here. We can see it from everywhere in the living room and also from the den.

It’s amazing what a difference it makes in the room.

I just might sit on the living room sofa and gaze upon it all day long.

We looked more closely at the green coffee can in the photo. It says:

Composition des Moines
Moka des Moines
Clichy-La-Garenne

Clichy-La-Garenne is a commune on the Seine in the northwestern suburbs of Paris. Its church was built in the 17th century, as directed by St. Vincent de Paul. He had been curé (priest) of Clichy.

Yesterday started out sunny but turned cloudy. Today? Sunny all day. I’m going to enjoy it while I can. Sunday’s forecast is for 3-5 inches of snow, with an additional 2 inches on Monday (of course, Don has an audition that day.)

No to snow. I’m not ready for it.

Happy Tuesday.

Rain, Clogs & A Sunset

November 25, 2019 at 10:24 am by Claudia

The reward for enduring lots and lots and lots of rain.

Spectacular.

Yesterday found us getting drenched while trying to clear our culvert. It had been blocked by leaves and was overflowing into the street. The culvert is a ditch that runs along the road on our side of the street and is, in reality, the county’s property and responsibility but they didn’t work yesterday. It turns into a pipe under our driveway – perhaps 10 inches or so in diameter? I’m not sure. Anyway, it was that pipe that was clogged. The water level was very high and it was moving fast but couldn’t get through the pipe.

Once we got it cleared, the water moved right on through.

I got a call on Saturday from the framer and our lithograph is ready. So we’re going to get that this morning and I’ll share it with you tomorrow. Exciting!

I’m sensing you’re all very busy this week. Of course you are! Travel and preparations for Thanksgiving are probably your top priority. So I’m going to keep my posts on the short side this week – though I will  post every day.

Huzzah – it’s sunny today!

Happy Monday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
