Spring Fever

February 28, 2018 at 10:17 am by Claudia

It was so sunny and warmish yesterday that I opened the front door.

And now I have spring fever, even though the calendar tells me it’s only February 28th.

I can’t help it, though. Today will be even warmer and then the temps will drop back to the forties and it will rain for a few days. Again. We’ve had so much rain lately. But it will make for a very green spring on the property and in the garden, so there’s that.

Anyway, I’ll enjoy this while I can!

Our chippy chair. I’ve never attempted to fix it because we like it the way it is. It reminds me of Hansel and Gretel. Or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Don has two shows today and then has a 5:30 am call at the Today Show on Thursday. Luckily it’s only a few blocks away from the apartment. (Better him than me!) I’ll just sit back in my chair with a cup of coffee and watch.

Opening Night is March 15th, so it’s not far off. I have to find something to wear, a task I dread nowadays. Next week, I’ll start looking. Wish me luck.

In case you’ve been missing her.

I talk to her every day. Between Stella and the plants, I have a lot of conversations going.

Happy Wednesday.

A Bit Foggy

February 27, 2018 at 9:01 am by Claudia

Still going strong. Alstroemeria is a workhorse!

I was so out of it yesterday. It didn’t matter where I sat down – on the bus, on the sofa, at my desk, in my blogging chair, in the bathtub – I nodded off in every place. And by nodding off, I mean asleep for about 15 minutes. I felt like I was drugged! I also slept for a nice long time last night. I guess I needed it, but I’m a bit foggy today.

The tiny carnations are here courtesy of Don. He handed me this bouquet as I stepped off the bus. Can I admit to you that I have a huge crush on him? I do.

Speaking of Don, the cast of Escape to Margaritaville  is going to be on the Today show on Thursday. They’ll be performing live and you just might catch a glimpse of Don – I assume that will depend on the camera position. I’m not sure what hour but if I get some more info from Don, I’ll pass it on to you.

Today is about paying bills, going to the post office, going to the bank and buying some groceries. In other words, an errand running day.

There’s a bright and shiny new leaf on the Monstera with two more waiting in the wings. They’re still developing but it won’t be long. And the spider plant now has three babies. They’re not open yet, but they’re growing nice and tall.

A glimpse of the skyline as I left the city yesterday. Note helicopter.

Thankfully, it’s bright and sunny here today.

I’ve heard from a couple of people who received a spam email purporting to be from me. It has another email address however. So it’s either a spoof or they’re using my name from a previous hack. I hope you know by now not to click on any email that just has a link. Don’t. I’ve changed a password or two just to make sure all is well.

Happy Tuesday.

Powerful

February 26, 2018 at 8:57 am by Claudia

I arrived at Port Authority Bus Station yesterday, only to see my husband waiting at the gate with a bouquet of flowers. He completely surprised me! (He’s a romantic guy.)We grabbed some lunch and then I left to go meet with my friend’s daughter.

I won’t talk about that meeting with any details as it was precious and private. I will say that it was incredibly moving and powerful and that we both cried. I’m still processing the whole thing. All I know is that I am grateful beyond words for our meeting yesterday and our conversation will be held close to my heart forever.

While at lunch we decided to try to see Black Panther  and we managed to reserve some tickets online for a 5:30 showing.

Here we are in the the gigantic theater complex near Lincoln Center.

Oh heavens, Black Panther  was incredible! In every way. Stunning. Go see it.

On our walk back to the apartment.

We watched the closing ceremonies as well. Gorgeous and very moving, as always.

Today, I’ll spend some time with Don in the morning and then I’ll head home.

I have to say it’s been an incredible 24 hours.

While cutting over on 43rd Street on my way to the apartment, I saw this. This play is already running in London and is about to open here. I have a few friends who are in the cast. I love what they’ve done with the outside of the theater! And look, way up on the roof:

I think that might be ‘the cursed child.’ Amazing.

Happy Monday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
