Day Four Hundred Fifteen

May 2, 2021 at 10:26 am by Claudia

The porch is taking shape. I spent quite a while out there yesterday (in the wind!) potting several plants. The wind wasn’t as bad as the day before, but it enough to make us both a little frazzled. Don was also working outside.

Today, I’m headed back to the nursery to get some topsoil and a few more plants. I’m hoping my hanging plants are in – fingers crossed!

In the meantime, I had to stop writing his post for a bit because someone called us via FaceTime:

He was a Creeper – some sort of being that looks the same whether happy or sad. They don’t talk and, sometimes, they explode. We managed to make this strange Creeper laugh, although he quickly tried to hide the facial evidence by going back into neutral mode.

Z is happy today because he gets to take a little trip with his dad to see his brother’s new apartment. Same building, but now on the highest floor which means that Z gets to ride the elevator!

Okay. I’m off to run a few errands.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

An elevator ride to the top floor! That kid is such a character. He really hit the jackpot to be adopted into your sister’s family.
Today is a yard work day here and maybe a little porch sitting.
It is sunny and supposed to be the warmest day we’ve had, close to 70.

how peaceful it must be for you to finally get to tend plants outside and then enjoy some porch sitting. i’m glad for you … and it all looks great!

looks like a fun visit with your little z. glad you all can visit that way and he can ride an elevator and see one of his brothers.

hope you find what you want at the plant nursery and have a great day!

i’m going to try to follow the advice on little z’s t-shirt today and just “be”. thanks to little z for that important reminder!

We had temps in the 80’s yesterday, but the winds were over 40mph most of the day. It is so exhausting. Today back into the 80’s but much less wind. yay. The rest of the week is supposed to be pretty chilly, with a few nights into the 30’s. The plants will have some miles on them going in and out of the garage. I hope you find the baskets for your porch. The Lobelia looks beautiful. Our FFA had their plant sale (on-line) yesterday, and I ordered another $130 of plants. Next Sat we go to pick it up and it is all put together for us to drive up and open the trunk. Exciting time of the year for sure.

Hope you have success at the nursery and fun potting about today! Take care.

Little Z! Yay! Cheery face. When you mentioned about trying The Hobbit again, I thought of Little Z – it’s just a thought to read together/apart. Don’t mind me. b
Happy to see your beautiful potting skills this year.

We have chosen similar colors for our annual containers this year. And, on the south-west I have coral and white. Just wanted something very relaxing, not in the mood for bold and bright this year.
Today, I dug up 3 clematis vines that sprung up near the mother plant. It is ‘Rooguchi’ which produces pretty little blue bells. One I planted to climb on a trellis we made from tree limbs and the other two I potted up for now, they are to climb on a metal trellis that I ordered but have not yet received. Planted in front of that will be white blooming plants.

Your nephew “Z” is looking so grown up!

    Take care…

I think I just grab what’s available! Although I am drawn to lavender and purple and pink.

I want to add another clematis this year – for the bed beside the porch.

      Stay safe, Kelly!

Oh, your flowers look so pretty all potted up. Mine are wheeled in and out of the garage. I hope to have them potted up by the weekend, but, it’s supposed to be quite rainy this week.

It was still windy and hot out today, but we did manage to plant a couple of hydrangeas.

That Little Z…what a hoot! I can just imagine how excited he was to ride that elevator. Enjoy your evening! ;)

What a joy to see Little Z! He looks very happy. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to be excited about riding elevators? Now when faced with one, I only think about how the wait is an will I run into the person getting off. I always assume it finally comes just for me. Your flowers are so pretty! My local grocery stores has some delicate primroses at in pots right at the entry. Very tempting. Stay well!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
