Day One Hundred One

June 22, 2020 at 9:45 am by Claudia

I know this looks much like a photo I posted last week, but it’s slightly different in that the hydrangea blossoms are getting whiter.

We need some rain and every day we get a ‘chance of a stray thunderstorm’ in the weather forecast – but nothing really happens. We had some thunder over the weekend with about 30 seconds of rain. It’s been over a week since we mowed and the grass has barely grown. And the temperatures through the first week in July are going to be in the high eighties and low nineties.

I guess we’ve gone right to “Summer: the August version.”

I’m going to water the seedlings and pots right after I post this. We have a grocery pickup later on this afternoon.

It’s a bit harder for us to enjoy lockdown when it’s too hot to work outside. We’re doing our best. I know that Don will eventually head out there and I’ll have to drag him back inside at some point. The humidity and pollen aren’t good for my allergies, so I am more inclined to stay inside.

I was sitting in my chair yesterday writing this blog and I heard the sound of something falling in the dollhouse. This happens every so often when the tacky wax that attaches things to walls loses its stickiness. It happened recently with the Beatles canvas that hangs above the sofa in Don’s studio. (I’ve yet to fix it.) Anyway, late in the day I remembered that something had fallen and I turned the dollhouse around to see what it was.

Nothing.

I looked at everything. It was all in place.

I looked again. Nothing.

Do you think there’s a ghost in Caroline’s old victorian house?

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Can’t help but think of the movie Child’s Play 1984. Youtube has the full movie.

And there are friendly ghosts, right? We’ll have to see just who or what this is!

      Stay safe, Tammy!

I’m with Tammy. I will consider it was possibly a fairy before a ghost!!

We have had a bit of rain today, and it looks to be in our forecast every day through next Monday, although some days are only 20% chances. Every day with some rain means less watering to do!

Hope you can reign Don in a bit. I know how hard that is to do. Glad you are staying in. Allergies this year seem to be really bad for so many. Enjoy the rest of your Monday!!

We always have a 20% chance but it never happens!

My allergies are worse than I can ever remember, Chris.

      Stay safe!

Oh, I just LOVE the thought of a ghost in the dollhouse! She’s probably getting tired of lockdown too — let me out!

I just got in from watering as well. Your hydrangeas are looking marvelous. Mine are coming on but more like yours were last week, if that! They’ll probably start full force once I get to the lake.

Take care and keep Don in check!

Actually, I ghost in the dollhouse sounds kind of exciting. Of course…it has to be a friendly ghost…like Casper.

Your hydrangeas are magazine worthy. When it’s that hot, I can’t work in the garden. I don’t get along very well with hot humid air. Hope Don didn’t stay out too long. We’ve had plenty of rain…and we are expecting more.

    Stay safe! ;)

He didn’t work outside today. It’s 91 and feels like 95. We did go pick up groceries, etc., but no physical work outside.

      We really need rain!

      Stay safe, Donna.

hope you get the rain you need! maybe the two-part gusher we had around 1:00 am (which knocked out my electricity) and then 11:00 am today will head your way. not to be greedy (because we just got 1.8 inches of rain), but i do wish it would stick around here for a while. :)

hope the grocery pick-up went alright and you and don have enjoyed the rest of the day. glad you both have multiple interests for when you can’t be outside. and that you can sit inside where it’s cool and look outside at those beautiful hydrangeas.

i know you like to read mysteries … and now you have a real-life one with caroline’s dollhouse … haha! hope you get it solved soon. :)

had a quieter day at work today and i am always glad and grateful about that. just want to be home and away from people who still don’t social distance or wear masks (i don’t get that at all!) if i can’t be with my family … nothing new about that. now i’m showered and taking it easy. i don’t seem to rebound as quickly as i used to so now i keep my “to do” lists pretty short and try to give myself some grace about what i don’t get done. :)

hope you all have a good night and stay safe!

A dollhouse poltergeist? I’m with you on not wanting to stay inside. My allergies seem to get worse every year. Climate change or getting older? Probably a bit of both.

    Stay cool.

I wonder? I’ve considered both. Are different things blooming? Is the pollen getting worse? Or is it just getting older?

      Stay safe, Kay!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
