Day Two Hundred Sixty

November 28, 2020 at 9:19 am by Claudia

A new addition to the English Cottage, aka Dove Cottage:

This gorgeous rug from TinyHomeGoods on Etsy. They carry many designs. I was looking for something faded looking and this beauty perfectly fit the bill. If you’re looking for miniature rugs, I highly recommend this shop. They have a nice texture and are beautifully finished on the edges. It was a gray day yesterday and the mail didn’t come until around 3:30, so the skies were already growing dark. The pics I posted on IG weren’t all that great, but I’m like a little kid when something new arrives for the dollhouse, so I posted anyway. These, taken this morning, are better.

A wider view.

It’s taking shape, isn’t it?

I haven’t answered your comments from yesterday but I will. I’ve been suffering from anxiety for the last few days. I’m not sure why but I’ve learned that it doesn’t always come from a logical, understandable place. I’m being kind to myself, as best I can. The good news is that I slept 8 hours last night! I can’t remember the last time that happened. Hence, I’m running a bit late today and Don is recycling at the moment and when he gets back I’ll make our second cup of coffee, so the post is going up early and I’ll answer comments in a bit.

I hope you’re enjoying a quiet and peaceful weekend.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

There is so much to be anxious about these days.
    Sleep always helps.
The rug looks like it belongs there. It’s fun to see the rooms come to life.
    Be kind to yourself.

i hope and will pray that the anxiety leaves you and only good things come in and soon, like right now. same for brendab and everyone else dealing with stuff like that.

glad you have your sweet don, beautiful and cozy home, books and the dollhouses, leftovers , etc. to keep the days easier. i hope everyone has what they need, plus treats.

and that you talk with your doctor if you need to. no shame in that.

your own home is very charming so it makes sense your dollhouses would be, too … that rug looks like the perfect choice.

i did some grocery shopping after work yesterday, in part to try to avoid crowds (didn’t help) and so i could have a slow start today … my back is still very painful (which is scary … so i will call my doctor again on monday) and greatly impacting my life … ugh.
    anyway …

i hope you all have an easy, safe, peace-full weekend!

Glad you are contacting your Dr. Too many times we (or I know I do) wait, thinking it will get better on its own, or worry that we are over-reacting. Take care of yourself, kathy!!

hej, chris k in wisconsin …

i’ve had similar thoughts … it’ll be okay soon, give it a little time and take it easy. also, you’re 62, not a kid anymore so give yourself more time. and now, do not go where there could be lots of covid-19! :(

          ugh.

i am tired of thinking about stuff like that! i try to just worry only when out for a walk or when doing something specific and time-limited like washing the dishes. and i try to give it all over to God each day. i am not good at that. i need His help. sometimes there’s been frequent needs to try to reboot the day or at least give myself a little grace. and sometimes there’s tears and cussing.

is there something that helps you, gives you a break? hope so. and that you talk with your doctor if your bp, etc. is too much.

          thanks for your kind support.

          stay safe!

The rug looks nice…like it was meant to be. I always have anxiety…that’s why I can’t get my BP under control. Worry wort is what I’m called around here.

Nice day around here…50+, sunny. Good day to put out the lights, faux evergreens around the railings, and anything else I can find. Stay safe, and enjoy your day! ;)

    hej, donnamae …

    thanks for your kind support.

i went to urgent care three weeks ago, later called my doctor and have been on two different prescription muscle relaxers. not really helpful for more than a couple hours at a stretch. otc stuff (added with approval) seem to help more, but again not for very long. it’s been a month now and i want to know and hopefully fix the cause!!! even though i sound and feel kind of mopey about it (mostly it’s fear of back troubles), this is not going to bring me down.

sorry you have anxiety and blood pressure concerns. will be praying for you … and whoever has called you a “worrywort”.

hope you have a nice day. decorating, with mild weather, sounds nice. stay safe in every way!

    thanks again!

That rug is gorgeous! I keep thinking about the doll house on the bar downstairs. Maybe the new year. My best friend and I have kits for a wool camel blanket that we bought about 20 years ago when we went to Australia. We have decided that 2021 is the year to get those started! So we will be doing those. She only lives about four miles away, but we only text each other. He both have underlying conditions (we are both in our 70’s) so we don’t take chances with doing too much visiting, etc. The lap blankets will be beautiful. We have spent the last 20 years buying all sorts of bling for the blankets on the camels. Small charms and beautiful threads. It will sure keep us busy! I am so glad you and Don are taking care of yourselves! I think we are all having emotional issues after this year and also the last 4 years. We will all sleep better starting January 20th! Enjoy December. My best to you two.

You’re never obligated to answer comments; you do the post, and that’s enough. I’m so sorry about your anxiety. Don’t put any pressure on yourself. I wish you peace and calm today. It’s good that you slept; it helps with the coping. Thanks for the post; the rug is the bomb.

My best friend since I was a little girl and I are champion worriers. Our kids said we should start a business to assume the worries of others since we worry all day long. They said our tagline should be “we worry so you won’t have to”. Anxiety has a bit of another layer to it. As Donnamae said, I know it adds to my BP issues, also. Sometimes I sit and am looking out the window and my hubs will say “what are you thinking about”, and I give him just a SHORT LIST of what is on my mind and he just shakes his head in amazement. I know that as I grow older the worrying has increased. In the last 4 years I have become so much more aware of the fact that I am always waiting for the next shoe to drop. I will be so thankful when that feeling becomes not so constant in Jan. Or at least I do so hope that will be the case!

The little rug is just lovely. Looks so nice. Hope you have a good and peaceful day!!

Me too – I’m exactly the same. Don, on the other hand, doesn’t worry enough! But I admire that. When I think of all the time I’ve put into imagining what might happen – time I’ll never get back – I think I’d like to be more like Don!

      Stay safe, Chris.

Great rug!! Loving this cottage. In terms of anxiety, I’m having a bout as well. Back to bad eating and not enough sleep. I think it might be an after effect of the election. Euphoria and hope for a few days which was wondrous. But now we are living in the twilight zone between insane children and responsible grown ups. We are all being infected with future PTSD. Enjoy the weekend as much as possible. XO

PTSD for sure. We all have it. And this idiot keeps on saying the election is a fraud. Funny how his election wasn’t a fraud…

It is indeed “taking shape.” The rug is perfect with the sofa and the wallpaper and it looks so lovely!

Yes, I’ve been sleeping a lot — pain pills and muscle relaxers will do that to you, but it is nice to feel rested for a change.

    Enjoy the weekend!

This country has had so much damage done by OM, that it’s amazing we’re still standing to even talk about it. I continue to worry about things I just cannot change. I’m really trying to remain hopeful for the new president & the vaccines coming soon. I’m having a hard time not being able to hug my kids, stealing a hug for my 1 yr old granddaughter, trying to figure out some sort of 50th wedding anniversary trip for us….all to be safe and healthy. I’m tired of it and so is the rest of the world.
I think OM should be taken to The Hague for human cruelty. He’s caused such incredible
    damage, pain and suffering.
Anyway…it’s the way life is right now & at least we’ll be able to tell stories about what we’ve all been through someday.
Find the good in each day, Claudia. Know that you’re sure not alone! Think good thoughts! Be well.

I’m absolutely sure he should go on trial for Crimes against Humanity – for both COVID and the children and families separated at the border.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
